Halifax Online Banking
Advantages: Handy to keep an eye on your account
Disadvantages: none so far
...After having problems with my previous bank, I decided to open an account with halifax, this was about five years ago.
The reason I chose Halifax
Well they were always advertised on tv and I needed a new account for my wages to be paid into, so I went in made an appointment and opened my current account, which did`nt take long and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Other services available at Halifax
Credit cards
Mortgages
Personnel loans
Savings and Investments
Insurance
Share Dealing
However I basically use my account as a savings account and dont have any Shares or Credit cards through Halifax.
Five years later
Five years on and I cant say anything bad about the services provided by Halifax, Eighteen months ago was when I first started to use online banking, I found their web address at the back of my...

Halifax online banking
Advantages: Manage all your financial transactions online
Disadvantages: can't deposit!
...have been a customer of the Halifax Bank for over 30 years now. When they first introduced on line banking I immediately signed up to this and what a boon it has been! Signing up is an easy process and you are required to choose a user name and password and to provide answers to several security questions.
Once you have received your logging in details from the Halifax signing in is simple. You just have to log in with your user name, password and the answer to a security question. On gaining access to your acount your account information will be displayed.
It is possible to have most of your accounts included in the online service including current accounts, mortgages, loans, credit cards etc
Once you have registered you are able to conduct most of your banking transactions online including setting up standing orders and direct...

Halifax - excellent online bank
Advantages: ease of use, high interest rates,
Disadvantages: nope
...I joined Halifax Online last year and have had no problems with it. I am able to access my current account details 24 hours a day and every time I have tried to access the service it has been successful - I have never known the service to be down.
In order to register for the service you need to have a Halifax Current account and to have registered for their telephone banking service. This may seem strange, but what they do for extra security is ask for two random digits from your telephone security number when you first register for the online service. In order to get a security number from the telephone service you need to answer identity questions.
The way they get your details is really clever - you ring telephone banking and they take your details, then the first operator takes the answer to a security question - then you...

Halifax makes accessing your account easy
Advantages: Quick log in process, most things can be accessed from your main page.
Disadvantages: You could increase your overdraft with one click!
...I use Halifax online banking daily, I find it a complete god send to be able to switch on your computer and access your bank details from the comfort of your own home.
HOME PAGE
The homepage is very clear and you should be able to find the link for the service you require quickly and easily.
Halifax has a 1 page log in unlike other on line banks that often have 2 log in pages.
This doesn't deter me or make this site feel any less secure to me.
Log in requires your user name, password and the answer to a personal question, which you logged with them on signing up for your on line banking. This page is case sensitive.
MY ACCOUNTS.
When you have successfully signed in you are taken straight to MY ACCOUNTS. On this page you can display and manage all your accounts with Halifax.
You can make...

HALIFAX
Advantages: Friendly efficient service
Disadvantages: none
...them to be quite eye-catching and made me think of Halifax as a bank with a friendly and humorous approach to banking. And as usual, they always seemed to be advertising much better rates than their competitors on simple things such as current accounts and credit cards/loans. It seemed to me that Halifax were generally different to the stale and boring likes of Lloyds TSB and HSBC.
Although the Co-op had made me immediately close my account after coughing up the money that I felt genuinely owed, I was not without a bank account, I still had my Abbey account and the Halifax were offering me £100 to take it off my hands (use their switching service to transfer my banking from Abbey to Halifax). As you can imagine, I found it hard to turn this offer down!
Now, you may think that having a bank switch your account from one of their...

Halifax
Advantages: excellent on line banking
Disadvantages: none
...The Halifax has excellent on-line banking. You chose a password, account sign in name and you answer some questions when you sign up for online banking with them which are security questions that when you sign in you have to answer that they pick to ask.
I have 2 accounts with the Halifax and find them very easy to manage. You can apply for new accounts, credit cards and loans on there website and they also offer you the chance to buy shares. When you log in you will be taken to your bank account selection page were you decide which account you want to look at then click it.
You can see what direct debits you have going out of your bank and when, get a statement and view it when ever you want instead of waiting every month or couple of months for them to send it to you.
You can choose to view all your bank transfers, credits...

Halifax home banking - yawn.....
Advantages: don't have to get off yer backside
Disadvantages: slow, slow, s l o w .. . .. .
...If there's one thing worse than a bad website it's a SLOW bad website.
The Halifax home banking website - of which I am user, mainly because I can't be bothered to get off my fat backside and move my money somewhere else (but then you knew that as soon as you realised I use internet banking at all, didn't you?) - is by far the very slowest site ever to hit my favourites folder.
Logging on takes an age, and even then you don't get straight to your acount - you have more haituses(haiti?!) with each passing click of the (by now, snoring) mouse.
When you eventually get in, the links from screen to screen are slow and not at all intuitive.
So why do I keep my money with them?
No idea. Certainly isn't the naff interest rates....

More on Banking... Halifax
Advantages: Good rates and account options - online services are good
Disadvantages: Customer service isn't great - the live to serve their shareholders
...Whilst writing about banks (see my opinion on Nationwide), I thought I'd also write about the Halfiax.
I've recently opened an account with Halifax, as their current accounts seem to offer a superb rate of interest (4%), or you can have a Solo card account if you have no credit rating. This all seemed good.
Therefore, I visited the website, which is well laid out, interactive and very informative (despite not listing my local branch). All looked good...
Therefore I went into my local branch (or my closest branch, they've just closed my local branch), and asked to open an account. I knwo that with Nat West you could do it on the spot, in minutes. I was told by Halifax I'd need an appointment, so I waited for about 10 minutes for an appointment to make an appointment. I made the appointment for about 5 days time, as they were...

Halifax Web Saver is the ultimate account online
Advantages: Online Banking, easy access, web saver options, standing orders, cashcard,
Disadvantages: possibilty of hacking into your account, fraud.
...I have had a Halifax Web Saver account since it was first introduced online. It is the best account I have ever had. I chose it because i am the kind of person that uses the computer a lot and this appealed to me because of how much time I spend on the Internet. The first thing that made me think, ? I have to have that? was simply the fact that it was new, online and exciting.
When you sign up online you can choose to have the Web Saver account with or without a Cash card.
#With Cashcard#
You get the added advantage of a using a Cashcard in all link machines in UK. The only disadvantage is that the rate of interest on the account is slightly lower.
#Without A Cashcard#
You get all the standard online features and manage your account entirely online. The interest rate is higher than what it is with a Cashcard so you do...

Halifax Web Saver account
Advantages: Good interest rate
Disadvantages: Shoddy product, broken promises
...I recently opened a Halifax account and closed it less than two months later. My experience with the Halifax has meant that it is unlikely that I will ever bank with them ever again. While my experience wasn't all that bad, the gross incompetence (in my opinion of this financial institution left me doubting their ability to cope with anything.
I was enticed to open a WebSaver account, lured in by the promise of Beenz and a high interest rate. The account made all sorts of promises and delivered none of them. It promised the ability to manage the account by the internet, linking it to other accounts. It took me quite a while to work out how to get any money into the account. I had to go into the branch to pay money in in order to activate the account. Once the account was activated, I tried to transfer some money from my Lloyds...
