Marriott County Hall, London
Advantages: Central location, friendly attentive staff
Disadvantages: expensive drinks
...We had our civil partnership ceremony in this hotel April 2006. The hotel is in the old Greater London Council building. As you can imagine this building was very grandoise when it was the GLC. Marriott have kept the wood panneling, oil paintings and ambiance of the time.
Our ceremony was held in The Library with great views over the River Thames toward The Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. Our wedding breakfast was in The Parliament Suite on the 5th floor with stunning views over the Thames and as it got dark and the lights started twinkling the view was unforgettable.
Rooms are a bit expensive £175 b&b (standard room) £204 b&b (riverview room) We paid for a riverview room and were upgraded to the honeymoon suite free of charge!
We had a very specific menu in mind; Haggis, neeps, tatties as a starter with roast beef, yorkies...

LONDON'S CALLING
Advantages: Pleasent stay, good food, central location
Disadvantages: Views from room
...a question to be faced with either, a non speaking recipient, or a down right rude English person. A simple polite answer is all that?s required and if that?s too hard don?t do the job. Lastly is food ? good food, goes without say8ing doesn?t it?
The Strand Palace hotel has some 783 rooms on some nine floors (I counted them all!) And having spied in several others I was convinced they were all up to the standard of my own room. I booked my weekend theatre break through Superbreak for a cost of £196 for two persons the price included full English breakfast.
~~~Our room~~~
We arrived at our second floor room and slid the credit card style key into the slot and waited for the green light ? you know the standard stuff. The first thing you notice as you enter into the room is the darkness. There is a main light so we flicked the switched but...
Some of the best view in London...
Advantages: A luxurious hotel in a fantastic position
Disadvantages: very pricey
...I visited this hotel during summer time when my grandparents were visiting London for their 80th birthdays. This was a lovely stay as my grandparents hadn't been to London in years and my grandfather was very keen to ride on the London eye whilst my grandmother was keen for me to find a hotel in which as she phrased it, 'that he will have to dig deep into his pockets for'. She was aiming for nothing less than luxury!
Obviously there are a huge number of hotels available in central London but this one had to be special and my grandparents insisted that we all stayed over in a hotel together despite the fact that we were only further down the river in Putney and we therefore needed two rooms, one family room & one twin room for them.
Eventually I came across a great deal from The Marriott County hall. We could have our two rooms...
My day's at County Hall
Advantages: Location, price for location
Disadvantages: No parking, poor views
...At the end of last year i needed to take a business trip to London with my boss, and the company has an account with premier travel inn. So we were booked in to County Hall for 2 nights.
First Impression
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On arriving at the Hotel, the location was great, less than 100 yards from the front entrance was the 'London Eye', and everything else the south bank has to offer. Inside the hotel the atmosphere and decor was pleasant, with a few armchairs in the reception area for the weary traveller. Checking in was easy, and we were given our room cards, which were also needed to be able to use the lifts. You couldn't call a lift without swiping your card. Once entering my room, i was happy enough with the room. It of course was 'No Frills', but it was more than comfortable for my purpose.

Stranded in London!
Advantages: Excellent central location; good bars and restaurants
Disadvantages: Rooms a bit old fashioned; a little pricey
..." - the inner courtyard of the hotel with the humming air conditioners at the bottom. I can live (or sleep) with that, but there was also an awful rattling, like pipes, coming from somewhere in the ceiling. We went back downstairs to complain, and were told there were no other rooms. After standing our ground they eventually checked us in to an alternative room on the 4th floor. A little bigger, but still not brilliant - probably "average", from past business stays down in London hotels. The reception staff weren't particularly friendly, as other reviews have mentioned.
Despite being "club" rooms, all that appeared to be different was the decor. Instead of old-fashioned wall-to-wall flowerey decor and furnishings, it was plain duck-egg walls, and a "modern" bed (faux-leather headboard and plain brown and green blankets). Not worth the extra money...

County Hall
Advantages: Good price, friendly staff, good location, good meals, quiet
Disadvantages: No wheelchair access at the front
...At the beginning of October 2008 I had to travel to Londn to attend a job interview. I wanted a reasonably priced hotel that was close to my interview location and also that offered good access to some of the London tourist attractions. The Premier Inn County Hall Hotel fit the bill and also delivered so much more.
I caught a taxi from the train station and the first thing that I noticed when getting there was that the part of Belvedere Road in which the hotel is situated has barriers at either end so only traffic that has a reason for being there is allowed in...this makes the front of the hotel quieter than most places in London. The building also makes a rather striking impression as it is the listed building which used to hold the GLC. The only problem with this is that the entrance to the hotel is up a short flight of stairs...

Let's Kill some Floor!
Advantages: An awsome game...
Disadvantages: So few...
...website, and purchase the game, for the nice sum of £14.99.
Game Play
Killing Floor is an online game, played with up to five other players on your team.
First off, is choosing the map you want to play, or just your favourite server. I usually go to which ever has the lowest ping (distance from server), and is a map I like. There are 4 standard maps that come with the game, West London, Manor, Farm and Biolab. I only like West London of these, but there are loads of custom maps, created by other players, which auto-download when you load a game with that map.
Games come in four difficultly levels, Beginner, Normal, Hard and Suicidal, which affect a number of aspects of gameplay, from the starting money to the shots required to kill. I tend to play on Normal or, if feeling confident, Hard.
Next up, you need to pick a perk. There are...

Wizzing across the floors
Advantages: Does as it says
Disadvantages: Not disinfecting
...Wizz floor cleaner
We have lots of wooden floors in our house and although they are not laminate, i tend to try use this stuff or similar because bleach is too harsh and I like a nice fresh rather than bleach smell.
WHAT IS IT?
This product has apparently been specially formulated to effectively clean most types of sealed wood flooring ( so not just for laminate) and it promises to remove grease and grime with no need for rinsing afterwards.
PRODUCT AND PACKAGING...
The floor cleaner comes in a plastic bottle containing 1litre of the product. It?s quite handy because there is a handle on the side which makes carrying it around easier, although a down side of the packaging is the fact that the screw on/off top isn?t child proof, and can easily be opened.
The product itself is a light brown colour which is quite...

Floored
Advantages: easy to wipe clean, better for asthmatic children and more hygienic than carpet
Disadvantages: shows dirt quicker than carpet and can be noisier
...My friend has recently installed a new laminate floor.
He did all the work himself, it only took him two days and was a third of the cost of a carpet.
I thought of many reasons for him not to do it:-
1. The room would seem colder
2. It would scratch easily as they have 3 kids and a dog
3. It would start to lift if anything was spilled
4. It would not be comfortable to sit on.
5. It would be noisy
6. It would be harder to keep looking clean
7. There would be a lot of work involved
Four weeks later I take it all back. The room doesn't feel colder at all, in fact the rich colour of the wood makes it look warmer.
One of his sons is always rolling around on the floor with cars but they don't scratch the surface and neither does the dog. The surface is tougher than I expected.
Any spills are easily wiped up...

Review of B&Q Flooring

laminate flooring
Advantages: looks fine
Disadvantages: a bit tricky
...Having just replaced our conservatory (the old structure was ancient and wood rotten) we decided to do something about the uneven concrete floor.
Should we tile it with some flagstones? Should we put a wooden floor down? Should we put lino down?
Well what we did was research all the flooring we could put down .We considered the price, the durability of surfaces, the ease of laying floor could we do it ourselves, or did we need to hire someone to do it for us/
Well what we decided was to lay laminate flooring we looked in a flooring shop couldn?t find what we wanted and then went to B&Q . B&Q had a fairly good range and we bought Floor master tile L O C in a sort of terracotta stone colour.
This flooring has a ceramic tile effect and is sold in packs to cover 1.748 sq metres each pack cost £31 we needed 4 packs we also bought some...
