Kingavon Halogen Heater 1200 watts
Review of Kingavon Halogen Heater 1200kw by
giantpanda21
Advantages: Cheap to have on heats room nicely
Disadvantages: None
...This halogen heater is great and it is cheap to buy. I bought this heater when it had just started coming out and it cost me £14.99 (you could get them cheaper now) when you have the heater on it only uses about 4p an hour so you are saving a bit on your electricity. This halogen heater is 1200 watts and it is great youu have 3 buttons that operate the wattage one of which is also your on off switch and is one bar. The other 2 put it on 2 and the 3 bars but usually you only need it on 1 bar because it soon gets warm. There is a 4th button which if you press it it rotates the fire.
With the heater if it falls over it shuts itself off so it doesn't set your property on fire. When i have my heater on it is that bright that i don't need to put my main light on to watch the telly.
The halogen heater heats the room up well nd it is a very good...

Cheap Heating, At An Even Cheaper Price
Review of GET NTS 12AR Halogen Heater by
sghawken
Advantages: Cost effective stylish heating
Disadvantages: None at all
...In my continuing quest for heat a visit to Buyology led me to yet another halogen heater. All my previous heaters had been rotating ones. This little baby is a fixed position one, it's fixed its safe, and its incredibly easy to use.
The GET NTS is a smaller than usual Halogen heater, it sits approximately one and a half feet high by about a foot wide. The heater is made mainly of plastic, with a gazed area containing the halogen tubes. It has three halogen tubes in it, each one gives out 400 watts of heat. As well as giving out great heating you also get great cosy lighting, kind of reminiscent of a flaming coal fire without the flickering. One of these heater will provide a room of up to 20 feet long by 11 feet wide with really great heating, I know this as we used it in a room of these dimensions. However a room slightly larger...

Warming The Cockles Of My Heart!
Review of Focus Halogen Heater by
sghawken
Advantages: Illiminates the need for gas central heating and lighting
Disadvantages: None
...Seems like only a week ago we were all roasting and preparing for another heatwave, now its got a bit gloomier and people are getting a bit more "dressed". Now is the time to start thinking about the winter ahead, this time last year this is exactly what I was doing. The previous winter in our pretty isolated Cornish home the gas bill had been over £490 for just three months heating. So last year I had sought out a more economical option of heating our home. With the arrival of Halogen heaters on the market the year before and a lot of good reports about how economical they are; I decided that a halogen heater was the best option.
Having looked around for as few weeks at a few different styles I found the Focus Halogen HEAT in a small Cornish DIY shop, the price a rather nifty £17.99. There were cheaper models around but this had...

Crash, Bang, Wallop, What A Heater
Review of Challenge 1.6KW Halogen by
sghawken
Advantages: Stylish Design
Disadvantages: A twisted metal and glass deathtrap
...When it comes to Halogen heaters I strongly recommend pretty much any one of them. We had 3 different makes in our house in total Focus, Connect, and Crown each one was good. They are a cheap and very efficient form of heating and generally very safe. And while I still praise Halogen heaters a recent experience has left me as cold as stone.
We purchased a Challenge Halogen heater in preparation for an upcoming move, having decided that we want to stay in Cheltenham we decided to buy a house. The house we are buying has more rooms than we are used too and I decided it would be a good time to buy a few more heaters, the reason I think now is a good time is that generally they are considerable lower in price this time of year as heaters are often the last thing on your mind. Luckily I bought just one of these stylish Challenge heaters...

Keeps you warm
Review of Focus Halogen Heater 400/800W by
Louise24
Advantages: Cheap and Energy Efficient
Disadvantages: Require Sunglasses
...I bought my Focus halogen heater a couple of months ago for £6. They are advertised for £6.99 at www.focusdiy.co.uk but if you go into the store they are sometimes reduced further if there is a sale on.
It is a neat little unit measuring 30cm wide and 41cm tall. It has two heat settings - 400w & 800w. Apparently if you run it on one electric bar (400w) it only costs 3p per hour and acts as a light as well as a heater! Which must mean if you run it on both bars (800w) that it costs 6p per hour. This saves loads on your electric bills, especially if you don't need your lights on.
A great little feature is the safety tip-over switch which turns the unit off if it falls over / tilts. It must be on flat ground to work. It also has a safety thermal fuse incase of overheating. The high temperature resistant plastic housing is supposed...

It's getting hot in here
Review of Igenix 1.2 KW Halogen Heater by
AK-47
Advantages: produces instant heat, lightweight, low energy costs, safe
Disadvantages: the plastic finish does look a bit cheap
...In the interim period after moving into our new home and the installation of a new gas central heating system we found that the house would drop to sub-zero temperatures resulting in many layers of clothes, hugging like penguins and inevitably running frost bitten noses. As a solution we looked at oil filled radiators that could be plugged in as well as conventional fan heaters that blow out air warmed by a filament. Both of these solutions proved to be considerably more expensive than a Halogen solution, and the purchase of three Igenix 1.2 KW Halogen Heaters were purchased from Wilkinsons for only £8.99 each. Bought online they retail for around £20 each so a real saving was made and it worked out at around £75 cheaper than using oil filled radiators.
Standing 60cm high and 30cm wide the heater produces thermal energy from three strip...

Cheap Heat
Review of Kingavon Halogen Heater 1200kw by
donf18
Advantages: Quick heat, ecconomical
Disadvantages: Not powerful enough for larger rooms
...On a recent trip to Ingliston market just outside Edinburgh, in fact next to Edinburgh Airport, I grabbed myself a really good deal.
With the weather in Scotland being what it is especially recently, what with wearing shorts in the morning and then having to get the thermals out of a night time, one doesn't particularly want to have the heating on. The next best thing is a small portable heater which will give a quick fix to the current climate.
Being just short of 2ft high and about a foot wide the Kingavon 1200k Halogen Heater fits the bill. Now whilst browsing the market I did notice something a bit unusual about these heaters. The marketer had many models around his stall all looking exactly the same, except for one thing..........The NAME. Most of them were Kingavon but the rest were made up of makers I'd never heard of and some...

H'alliterative H'alogen H'eating
Review of Kingavon Halogen Heater 1200kw by
jillmurphy
Advantages: Cheap to buy, portable, flexible, economical to run.
Disadvantages: Bright bulbs, short cable.
...● I live in the back end of beyond. We do not have a gas supply, let alone broadband.
● Heating one's house using Economy 7 storage heaters may well be cheap, but it is gosh-darned inflexible.
● My conservatory-come-utility room – a labour of DIY love by a previous house owner – has a tendency to damp.
These are the reasons I went shopping in search of a heater. I perused the aisles. I considered fan heaters, convector heaters, all the heaters on the shelves. And I came back with Kingavon's 1200kw Halogen Heater. Oh, the excitement of it all. It's about knee-height and erm… gosh. It's a little, freestanding heater. Look at the picture above. That's what it looks like. It's an off-white plastic, and it's very light to carry, but reasonably sturdy when you put it down. It's hardly an icon of modern design but it...

Econmic heat
Review of Kingavon Halogen Heater 1200kw by
samxp
Advantages: cheap economical warmth
Disadvantages: not great in big spaces
...I went out looked around the shop, looked through the Argos magazine grabbed the number and went to pay.
The first thing that surprised me about the halogen heater was simply how light it was, and how, in comparison to my old gas fire it was crude and effective, even before I opened up the box I felt that I was onto a winner.
After Getting inside I unwrapped the heater and cautious sat it down and simply plugged it in, after contemplating if I had done everything that I needed to, I stood back and pressed on, the effect was overwhelming, it worked instantly and didn't hesitate to start.
It was perfect to counter the lack of heating in my house, as no downstairs I only have a wood fire which keeps one room warm where as now I can keep warm within a single room with the press of a button.
The different gradients of heating are perfect...

BiOrb 60 - Tropical
Review of Biorb by
MadPierre
Advantages: Easy maintenance, Visually attractive, All round vision.
Disadvantages: Acrylic so can be scratched if care not taken
...I originally purchased this due to it's attractiveness, I'd had enough of the "boring" rectangular tank set-ups so fancied a change. Once I got it home and started setting it up I was amazed at how easy it was to initially set up and subsequently maintain.
After a week with water and a couple of plants in it, I added some fish and hey presto... a fantastic centre piece for any room. I clean it out approx every 2-3 weeks with 25% water change, changing the filter etc. using the readily available maintenance packs (about £6.00 each). These come with a filter, cleaning pad and water conditioner, everything you need including instructions.
The set-up I purchased was the tropical one, with the heater and LED light unit. I have to say that the LED light is a MUST... they are time controlled with Daylight, moonlight and darkness phases...
