...(I'm german so I apologize for my bad english) I live in Hamburg and study meteorology since three years. In my opinion I live in the most interesting and exciting city in Germany. With 1.7 Million inhabitants it is the secound biggest city in Germany. It is in the north part of Germany and it is famous for the port. It is one of the biggest ports in Europe. A lot of people say that it is the port witch gives Hamburg the special atmosphere. I can only agree. If your are in the nightlife on a Saturdaynight and you walk to the port ( it is in the centre of Hamburg) it is very relaxing to drink your beer, watch the big ships and heer the noise of a port. I like it. But in Hamburg there is much more. Also famous is the Reeperbahn. It is famous for all the erotic shops but here are also the main attractions of the Hamburger nightlife... Read review

...Hello again ! I know what I´m writing about, cause I´m a real "Hamburger" Girl. This city is a city one must have seen ! The town hall called "Rathhaus", the Michel (the biggest church in Hamburg), the legendary "Reeperbahn" are all stations of a sightseeing tour. I think all of you know the Reeperbahn. Maybe you know it as THE street of sex in Hamburg. But thats not right. Here are also many clubs and they are great. Here is music for everyone. Whatever you what to hear in Hamburg is the right club, like 2-step(which is very successful at the moment), techno, hiphop or just pop. But Hamburg has another site ! In Hamburg yoú will find the Alster. I´m not sure if it´s a river or not. We also have great shopping miles. For example in the central of the city. The Mönkebergstraße and the Gänsemarkt are the most visited shopping miles... Read review

...in English! The city is often overlooked by us brits in favour of the likes of Amsterdam. However, for something a little different try Hamburg. Cheap flights are available or you could cruise direct to Hamburg from the port at Harwich on a budget.... Read review

...Hamburg Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany and has a rich and varied history and in the modern age is still world famous for it's port, tourist attractions and the Beatles in the 1960s as well as one of the recent James Bond films having been set here in the 1990s! I first visited Hamburg when I was six or seven and had family living over there and I am really pleased that I did as otherwise it is certainly one of those cities that you could easily miss and that would be a shame! Hamburg is a great cosmopolitan city that will appeal to old and young alike. Perfect for couples who enjoy fine dining and shopping as well as perfect for families at the fairs and attractions. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Getting there: Flights to Hamburg are relatively frequent. Hamburg is one of my absolute favourite cities to visit in the world and I have visited there just about every year for the last 20 odd years when family of mine moved over there. ...Moin, moin How we Hamburger wouls say! Yes, I am a real Hamburger boy, and so please excuse me for my not so excellen English! I want to start my opinion with some facts on the greatest city of the world!: - 1.8 mil. inhabitans - 2nd bggest city in Germany - Best football club of Germany "Hamburger Sport Verein" - Worst football club of Germany "FC ST.Pauli" ;-) - and over a hundred sights, which include some of the best of the world!! ...In my account infos you can see that I am german and Hamburg is my hometown so I will write something about it. I love my hometown more than any other city in the world although is never almost so good as for example London. But I think so and many people call Hamburg as the most beautiful city in Germany and not Berlin. Berlin is besides the shopping a really dirty city. Hamburg has many sights to see. I will give you some examples: ->the Reeperbahn: The big amusement mile in "St. Pauli" with many bars and discos and sex shops (who ever needs this??). The most people think the Reeperbahn is just a mile of crime and prostitutes. Yes there is many crime and there are many prostitutes but you do not see it really. Everybody wants to party there. Disadvantages: Some areas deprived and dirty with quite a few beggars.

...Arrived central Hamburg tourist information looking for a hotel for two nights (it was 3pm and the city was in the middle of a huge Disco/music fest attracting 350,000 people). Staff at info centre were wonderful, despite being incredibly busy. We were booked into the Crowne Plaza at an amazing rate of 400DM for two people b+b in a double room (last minute rate)for the two nights. HOTEL- Great reception, very clean and immaculate decor. Room very well equipped. Exquisit restaurant with attentive and friendly staff. TAXI- Very reliable and reasonably priced. HAMBURG - Stayed in hotel for evening meal - totally beautiful eating experience. Early start and taxi to FISH MARKET (down at the port 5am - 10am). I could not belive it was so early on a Sunday morning. The atmosphere was electric..bands playing, bars open, thousands of stalls... Read review

Advantages: air tickets booking online for much less
Disadvantages: the tax is a shame

...Last year I had to go to Hamburg in Germany with my boyfriend and we bought than two return tickets, but the price that we paid was about £140 pound for each ticket. Now you can go nearly everywhere in Europe with Rynair and booking online for nearly nothing. The price of the TAX that you have to pay is more than the price of the ticket that you have to buy or want to buy. I must admit that when the ticket was £1 pound the tax was about £30. But it is still worth doesn't it?... Read review

...Hamburg is an attractive city in North Germany. With a population of 1.8 million, it is second only to Berlin in size. It is also the biggest industrial city, with an area of 755 square kilometres. However, whilst the docks thrive with its busy trade the town has not been robbed of its natural beauty. I have been to many cities in Germany and whilst the majority are pleasant, I do find that some are quite similar. They have the same shops, basic shopping districts and a fairly typical atmosphere. However, Hamburg is very different and is extremely vibrant. The origins of the city date back to the 9th century when 'Hammaburg' was founded.
