...Hamburger Hill is a much overlooked film relating to the intensity and gruelling conditions endured by the US forces in the Vietnam War. Unlike many other Vietnam War films, this one dramatises an actual event, the taking of 'Hamburger Hill' by 101st Airborne Division, despite heavy losses and the menacing and powerful 28th North Vietnamese Regiment who were holding the hill. The film didn't really use any majorly established actors for the film, going with some vaguely familiar names such as Dylan McDermot and Courtney B Vance, and giving the cast a pretty wide berth in terms of emotional presence on screen. Yoho Ho(tel) - Where Santa stays in Hamburg?

Advantages: Something a bit different from your regular German city hotels
Disadvantages: Limited choice in the restaurant

...Yoho is the abbreviation for the 'Youth Hotel' and it's located in Hamburg. I'll admit that when I was told to book it for a visit earlier this week, I did worry that it might be like a youth hostel. Perhaps before I checked out in the morning they would make me clean my room or wash the dishes. Fortunately neither was the case, and despite the strange name, I found a rather charming modern hotel located in a nice old historic building. The main criteria by which they justify the name is that they offer slightly lower prices for guests who are under 26. Sadly nothing I can benefit from any more. It's not - so far as I can tell - in any way linked with the Yo! Sushi brand so that may be a relief to some and a disappointment to others. Disadvantages: A bit slow in places, very graphic violence

...Hamburger Hill is the supposedly poor cousin of the two highly acclaimed Vietnam War films, Platoon and Full Metal Jacket. While the latter two films were released to critical acclaim, Hamburger Hill received a somewhat mixed reaction from the press. Hamburger Hill is directed by John Irvin and was released in 1987 and unlike the other two films is based around an actual battle that occurred during the war. The film follows the fortunes of the 101st Airborne Division as they fight to gain control of Hill 937 (it?s height in metres) which after the battle was renamed ?Hamburger Hill? for obvious reasons. ...Hamburg Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany and has a rich and varied history and in the modern age is still world famous for it's port, tourist attractions and the Beatles in the 1960s as well as one of the recent James Bond films having been set here in the 1990s! I first visited Hamburg when I was six or seven and had family living over there and I am really pleased that I did as otherwise it is certainly one of those cities that you could easily miss and that would be a shame! ...The Hills is my guilty little pleasure. There's backstabbing, friendships, boyfriends, clubbing, making up, breaking up, in fact this programme has everything! The Hills is actually a spin-off television series from the very popular show, Laguna Beach. This show followed a bunch of high school students through their life in Laguna Beach, California, a very affluent, beautiful area right on the coast of Southern California. One of the main characters was Lauren Conrad, often referred to as LC. She, in my opinion is quite a pretty, nice mannered girl, if somewhat spoilt. She has the clothes, looks, long blond hair and drives a very nice convertible car. I do like her and I think she is quite entertaining. ...Wow. This really is a war film. This is a dramatic story of one of the bloodiest battles during the Vietnam war. The battle to win control of this hill, nicknamed Hamburger Hill, is cruel, dirty and dramatic. The film centres on one platoon that has been given the task of leading the assault on this hill. Many of the platoon members are killed or injured and some the make-up effects are totally realistic, when limbs are missing or parts of bodies are blown up. This certainly is not a film for the squeamish. Time after time the platoon attempts to fight it’s way up to the top of hill, and time after time they have to fall back to their base at the bottom of the hill. During the time in between attacks there is some excellent dialog between the team members and this reflects the feelings that the American soldiers had...
