...We went to Tunisia in June 2004 and stayed at the Sheraton in Moncef Bay, Hammamet Plage. i have written a seperate review on the hotel. Moncef bay has many bars and restaurants. There is the London pub. English music, very lively, good if you are feeling home sick ! Latino bar was one of our favourites. Great food, great music, a pool table, and friendly staff. There was a club called Manhatten, which looked quite dodgy, so we didn?t risk it. Maybe if there had been more than 2 of us we would have given this a try?possibly. It is possible to walk from Hammamet Plage to the Medina in Hammamet town center. It took us just under an hour. Review of General: Tunisia

SHERATON HAMMAMET, Tunisia

Advantages: great location and service.
Disadvantages: not suitable for honeymooners

..., past the rocks. A 10-minute walk takes you to the Les Citronniers beach bar. The food and drinks here are great. Portions are large, and prices are cheap. In the evening there was mainly a choice of 2 places to eat. The bbq diner does a buffet, which varies from seafood one day?to Italian the next. The cost is about £23 per head, excluding drinks. They have their own entertainment on the bandstand. The other choice is a la carte in the main restaurant area. The choice was limited, but the food was excellent. About 10pm every day in the main hotel areas there is always entertainment ranging from belly dancers to magicians. Its great if you have kids, otherwise we suggest you venture out and try the local restaurants and bars. We ate out most days. Mostly in Hammamet Central, near the medina. Sun is shining in Hammamet

Advantages: Location, facilities, size of rooms and the staff
Disadvantages: None really

...On my recent trip to Tunisia we stayed at two different hotels - one of them was this one, the El Mouradi Hammamet. The hotel is actually located in Yasmine Hammamet and is located just across the road from the beach and is only around the corner from the local amusement park, Carthage Land. The hotel is a 5 star hotel and is sold on a either a bed and breakfast, half board or full board basis. When we arrived at the hotel it was already dark as we had travelled in on the late Tunisair flight and it was going on for about 11pm when we actually got to the hotel. The front entrance is all marble and quite wide - it was lit up with a lower light than normal and this gave the hotel a very nice look to it as it wasn't too bright! A Week in Hammamet

Advantages: Potential for year round good weather, pleasant resort
Disadvantages: Depends where you stay

...up out of the medina and at night it is lit up beautifully and looks very pretty. You get a great view from the little park/square next to the medina which has a delightful modern fountain. (There are often young Tunisian men round here trying to sell you hash; smoking marijuana is not common in Tunisia, it is not tolerated by the police and you are more than likely going to be sold some legal kind of herbal mixture. Refuse politely and they will be OK). The medina is the centre of most Tunisian towns and is much more than just a market. The medina is a town in side gated walls and Hammamet's is just another smaller version of the one in Tunis (see my Tunis review). Barcelo where I rested my foot in Tunisia .

Advantages: Good hotel
Disadvantages: food a bit repetative

...Earlier this year we went on Holiday to Hammamet Tunisia. Usually we camp or self cater. I had just come out of hospital and we needed a break so we looked on line and booked last minute the hotel Barceló. This hotel has recently changed hands used to be the Miramar. We flew into Monastir it took about 45 minutes by coach to get to our hotel. Tunis is about an hour or so the opposite direction. This hotel is on the sea front 5k from the town centre of Hammamet. Although we hired a car as we wished to see more of Tunis off the beaten track it would be a good hotel to stay in with out your own transport. There is a tourist train /bus that runs from Hammamet town by the Medina to Yasmine Hammamet . The train stops in front of the Baqrcelo. Advantages: Good Bargains At The Medina
Disadvantages: Industrialised, Hassle From The Locals

...You could be forgiven for missing Sousse off the itinerary whilst visiting Tunisia. After all it is Tunisia's second largest City, but unlike Tunis the Capital, Sousse has a reputation of being a lot more industrialised. During my recent visit to the Country I stayed in a Holiday Resort called Port El Kantaoui, which is a purpose built Resort just 12 Kilometres from Sousse. FIRST IMPRESSIONS My first glimpse of Sousse was from the transfer Coach from the Airport at Monastir en route to Port El Kantaoui. Sousse seemed like a bustling, lively, place with plenty of traffic and People, but it did look rather run down and not the sort of place where one would spend a Holiday. Another nice hotel in Hammamet.

Advantages: Loction facilities and the staff
Disadvantages: Not as much outside of the hotel during non peak season

...On my recent work trip to Tunisia I stayed in two different hotels - I also then visited another so many and had a look around. One of the ones that I visited was this one which is actually known as 'El Mouradi El Menzah hotel. This is shortened to El Menzah to make it easier!! This was the first hotel apart from the first one we stayed in that we went to have a look at and this was because it was located right next door. The hotel next door is the El Mouradi Hammamet and the two hotels are actually very similar in style too with their pools back to back and just seperated by a fence and a gate. Even though I didn't stay here I think my review will be useful for those considering it as a option as I saw pretty much the whole place. Hotel Phenicia in Hammamet

Advantages: Good value, nice hotel
Disadvantages: lack of facilities

...Me and my husband stayed in The Hotel Phenicia in Hammamet at the end of October this year. i think it cost approximately £342 with Thomsons all inclusive basis. Accomodation The rooms are very clean and quite spacious. The rooms are numbered in the 1000s even though there are not 1000s of rooms. We stayed in 2080. there are 5 floors and the top floor has a patio area which you can go out on and have an amazing view of the hotel grounds and surrounding area.The rooms seem to be all twin-bedded. We did ask for a double when booking but I wouldnt bother again as I dont think there are any doubles. Me and my husband the romantics that we are pushed our beds together! (and apart again when he started snoring!!) Our room faced out on to the front of the hotel where there is a small golfing green. However if you think you can have a go...

Averroes Hotel Yasmine Hammamet

Advantages: A cheap holiday

...I have just spent a week at the Iberostar Averroes Hotel in Yasmine Hammamet Tunisia during the Easter Holidays of 2007. I spent the week with my husband and three friends. My husband and I went half board whereas our friends were all-inclusive. The Averroes Hotel is very striking with marble floors and high ceilings although felt a bit chilly inside. The reception staff were very ameniable and quickly organised us with our rooms. The porter very swiftly took our luggage up to the rooms. The rooms are spacious and clean with large balcony. Separate bathroom and toilet. The rooms were cleaned daily and we often had fresh flowers. They did funny things with my pyjamas assorted shapes and patterns, I think they were very brave especially as I am going through the menopause but thats another story. ...In May this year we decided that we would go for a week’s holiday in Tunisia. I used to work in Monastir as a travel rep so we thought it would be a good idea to stay in Hammamet as I’d only visited it for one day during my stay. Colin had never been to Tunisia and I hadn’t been there since I stopped working in Monastir in 1992 so we were both very excited about the trip. We booked an, allocated on arrival, 4* half board Hammamet supersaver break organised by Panorama and costing £260 per person. I have only one complaint about this trip and, as it turned out, it didn’t spoil what was a wonderful holiday. When you book these breaks you are led to believe that you will be staying in Hammamet and not Hammamet Yasmine which is few miles away from the main town of Hammamet.
