...I have been bowling now for about 3 years and curretnly average around the 175 mark. I play for Nottinghamshire and Lenton. For those of you who dont know, in bowling , bowlers usualy carry 2 or more balls.........one of these is a "spare" ball. For picking up spares. These balls are very shiney so they skid in the lane oil, and have little/no tendancy to hook. Where as a reactive ball contains a weightblock to make the ball "break" when it reachs dry boards, spare balls have a even block which distrabutes the wright of the ball evenly. On to the ball....... I bought his ball about 4 months ago now, as I needed a new spare ball sine my old one had "worn out". I was looking in my local proshop and I came across this amxing item. Goliath is a big hooking ball

Advantages: Hook potential, colour, price

...The Brunswick BVP Goliath is part of their 'Value Performance' range of bowling balls together with BVP wizard, BVP Ambush, BVP rampage and the BVP punisher. The BVP is now a discontinued bowling ball replaced by the BVP Mammoth. The BVP range of bowling balls are supposed to give high end performance at value prices which they seem to do very well. The BVP Goliath has a high-load particle cover-stock (400 grit sanded) which up until the mammoth was the highest hook potential ball in Brunswick's history with a hook potential rating of 160. The two piece core of the goliath is a inverted bell core which gives a medium RG of 2.590. This gives a ball that hooks through the oil. The ball comes in a deep purple colour which is almost black which I think looks good. It isn't noticeably purple which is what I was after cause I'm not too...

Its on the ball

...I have a small home so when I needed a new vacuum cleaner I chose the Dyson DC24 which is a smaller version of the standard model. It cost £189.99. I was expecting almost a child sized vacuum cleaner but there is not really much difference at all. It was so simple to put together, there are peel off stickers on the unit to explain things as you go. It only took me 5 minutes to have it assembled. The ball makes vacuuming effortless, and the head of the vacuum is narrow so its easy to get under the sofa, low tables, etc. It has strong suction as you would expect from a Dyson but it is surprising how full the cylinder is when you have finished. It really gets everything up. This does mean however that you need to empty the dust cylinder quite frequently. The power cable is short and not retractable which can look a bit untidy if it is...

Bowling comes to the DS (again) - AMF Bowling Pinbusters

Advantages: Excellent range of multi player options
Disadvantages: Poor controls system, no touch screen support - generally repetitive game

...for children of most ages. In summary, this really is quite a limited game, as the main element of the bowling isn't really that much fun. Even with experience, the ball still doesn't go where you want it to, and the lack of stylus and touch screen support does take away from the game. There are positives, especially the impressive range of multi player options, but given the quality of the game play, it's not likely that you'd want to play using these features for long. Crazy bowling

Advantages: Good fun, plastic so easy to keep clean
Disadvantages: Balls hard to blow up

...My son got this crazy bowling set for his birthday recently, and he has had great fun playing with it with his cousins and friends. It comprises of a bowling alley (about a metre and a half long), 6 skittles and 2 balls. Everything is plastic and inflatable, so they are great outdoor toys, and great to keep clean. The other good thing about them being inflatable is that they are easy to store away again when they come back down in size - they can just be put back in the box. That could also be a problem too, though - it means that each time you play with it you have to inflate everything. I have kept the bowling alley inflated and keep something on it outside so that it won't blow away, so that I just have to blow up the skittles and balls when my son wants to play with it. Ten Pin Bowling

Advantages: Fun
Disadvantages: Not cheap

...Ten Pin Bowling is really more of pastime in this country as opposed to a serious sport, whereas in the good old USA they take their games a lot more seriously, and it even gets on TV!! Most of us here will have experienced Ten Pin Bowling as a social event, with friends, in one the big bowling places such as Mega Bowl or Hollywood Bowl that inhabit just about shopping centre in the country. The nearest one to me is the Metro Centre, so when you go with your friends you normally do some shopping, eat some food and go bowling. The large bowling places are really rather good too. The one I go to has a bar, a fast food restaurant, loads of arcade machines and a large pool hall. There so much entertainment under one roof, and you really can spend hours (and lots of money) in one of these places. As far as the bowling goes it isn...

UPDATED - Hammerite gets you hammered

Advantages: One coat usually covers all, but may require two.
Disadvantages: Be aware of the fumes.

...UPDATE - OK, boring review on a tin of paint, but just to remind you that this is only being made for another few weeks, so you will be hard pressed to find it in the shops after that. There are other alternatives, but in my opinion not as good as the genuine Hammerite. Secondly, I must just say that although I think the Hammerite range is fantastic, I always use it with adequate ventilation. The fumes from this paint are not pleasant. The main thing is to wire brush every bit you want to paint first, and don't paint in direct sunlight. With the hammered finish, you can paint it on liberally, and get away with one coat, although Hammerite do recommend two coats applied within six hours. Compared with smooth - it has a similar consistency, but obviously dries with a textured surface, not unlike a proper hammer beaten piece...
