...i recently went to see Gabrielle at the Hammersmith Apollo and I was pleasantly surprised. It is a bit of a long journey on the tube from Liverpool Street but once you get to Hammersmith station the Apollo is clearly signposted and only five minutes away. There was no queuing to get inside and once inside there are two bars on the ground floor and a large bar upstairs in the "circle". Drinks were reasonably priced for London (£2.70 for an alcopop or bottle of beer) although it did take a while to get served. There isn't much on offer in the way of food, just hotdogs and packets of sweets but we found a very nice chip shop just around the corner and there was also a cafe and a pizza restaurant if you've got a bit more time to spare. ...of the Beatles, Rolling Stones and other bands he had admired from afar. They endured a nightmare journey of turbulence and storms and arrived to what England produces a lot of? rain! Then all hell broke loose as they got into London, the record company (who Springsteen later admits were only doing their job) had taken the idea of Jon Landaus quote and come up with the slogan 'Finally London is ready for Bruce Springsteen!' Bruce stormed off the band's bus and went round the Odeon and surrounding area, ripping down posters and banners, he didn't want the hype - what if he couldn't live up to it - the critics would have a field day? He needn't have worried, both he and his band mates were now really fired up, they hit the stage running and blew the roof of the Hammersmith Odeon, producing one of the all time legendary concerts in rock and roll...

They are emortal

Advantages: Great version of white man in hamersmith palais
Disadvantages: white riot aint on it

...From here to eternity is an album that shows just how good The Clash were. The Clash were the ultimate live band, and now people who didn't get the chance to see them, or want to relive the past, this is the album to get. The album shows how The Clash evolved as a band, from the early years when Joe Strummer screammed out " White Riot" to the reggae vocals on "Armegidion Time". Most of the classic songs are on here, with great versions of "White man in Hammersmith Palais" and "The Magnificent Seven". The Album does not have any weaknesses except that "White Riot" is not included, but this sad fact still cant stop this being one of the best live albums ever released....

A really, really good laugh!

Advantages: Very funny - need I say more?

...of swearing but not too much. To be honest McIntyre doesn't need to swear to try and make his act funny ? it is funny without him having to pander to those who enjoy swearing or crudity. We were happily surprised when the Hammersmith Apollo performance finished but instead of it being the end of the DVD we found that the footage of his appearance on the BBC's live at the Apollo too was on next! The running time is 1 Hour 24 Minutes so we felt that we had got good value for money. If you want any more information about Michael McIntyre he does have a website at www.michaelmcintyre.co.uk where you'll find details of any tours, his sketches and lots more information. I paid £6.99 for this DVD from www.play.com and got some cashback by going via www.cashinco.co.uk so it really was well worth the money! I would happily recommend it to...

Old Wrinkly Bottoms

Advantages: Hilarious from start to finish
Disadvantages: None!

...Since the beginning of time, man has learned to evolve, reporduce, walk, fens for his family, talk, communicate... and get "twotted" in the face with hefty great frying-pans. And it's hilarious! Bottom features two dirty, disgusting batchelors from Hammersmith, played by the excellent Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmonson. The show is along the same lines as The Young Ones (which Rik and Ade also starred in) so if you're a fan of bucketloads of toilet humour and skiploads of innuendo, then this really is the type of program for you. Three series were filmed during the early '90s and these are regularly screened on UK Gold....

Executive Transvestive

Advantages: Funny, just so very funny.
Disadvantages: You may laugh to hard.

...There came a point, watching this DVD, filmed at the Hammersmith Apollo when I thought nobody could possibly get funnier - and then he did. For those unfortunate enough not to have seen or experienced the wonders of this executive transvestive (his words not mine) you have sadly missed out. Glorious - is a brilliant live show. He discusses the beggining of the world, Mrs Badcrumble, portrays God as James Mason, compares the queen to an owl and other ridiculous things. But it works! Its just fantabluous. A quote to get you giggling: "I wanna be a taxidermist I WANNA FILL ANIMALS WITH SAND. Review of Eddie Izzard - Glorious (DVD)

Great for the kids

Advantages: lots of play equipment and open space
Disadvantages: not as big as the other main parks in London

...Ravenscourt Park is situated just outside Hammersmith in west London and is great for the kids if you live locally.Brilliant in the summer when the pool is filled and its hot and the water is cool with kids splashing around in it. Lots of swings,slides and climbing equipment and a nice little cafe that was run by a lovely bloke from newcastle last time I visited.You can buy drinks and icecream and other food. There are ducks to feed on the water and lots of open space to run and play football. It is accessible from all sides of the park and is very clean and free from dog mess. In November there is a fireworks display and huge bonfire,hot dog stalls and fair stalls..a brilliant night out.It also holds a fair every so often so theres lots going on....
