Multifunctional PDA and Sat Nav system

...superior - it is acceptable for my requirements. The Mitac 168 combines a PDA with a sat nav. system. And whilst the PDA is of inferior quality the Sat Nav element of the Mitac is most definitely not. It is on par with stand alone GPS units such as Navman, Tomtom etc. The Mitac has a built in GPS receiver. If any of the readers of this review have ever had to sync an external GPS receiver to a PDA then they will appreciate what an excellent feature this is. I used to have a Toshiba PDA and separate GPS receiver. I never got the two linked up properly and experienced so many problems, including lost signals, no satelites showing etc etc. the list is endless. ...I dont have a 20 channel receiver however I do have a 12 channel receiver which came in the box with my Tom Tom Navigator 5 for PDA, whichi I use in my Treo 680 Smart Phone. The whole thing works perfectly and I couldn't ask for more as Sat Nav goes. The GPS receiver looks identical to the 20 channel one shown here and if this one works as well as mine does then you can't go wrong. It has a matt cover which makes it stay put where ever you place it on the dashboard and in use I've found that it picks up a signal very quickly and once linked to the PDA by bluetooth it keeps the signal so long as it can see just a tiny bit of sky. Once linked I take the unit off the dash and place it on the floor of the car in between the seats and it keeps the signal through motorway tunnels and even during a traffice halt under a bridge! This is because It is not a good idea to leave the SAT NAV in the car when parked, so I have to take the cable out if I park somewhere dodgy, like city centres.
