Your own voice is picked up and transmitted with the same clarity. The holder itself is very good, if a little large by modern standards, it holds the phone safely and securely, whilst recharging the phone battery. There is no vibration, and the phone will not fly out of the holder at level crossings. I do realise that a lot of bluetooth headsets are replacing this type of kit nowadays, and they are very clear, but these kits do have their merits. The speaker is mounted wherever you want it, and so the sound comes equally to both ears, unlike the bluetooth that goes in one ear only. It lasts for long until a child can stand alone. It does what it says on the package- keeps baby safe while your hands are free. Initially, I was worried the seat didn't have any cushions or padded attachments that could make a child more comfortable, but as long as he doesn't slouch...

Hands-free like Mummy

Advantages: Mini version of grown-up sling, in colour and in quality. Versatile.
Disadvantages: An expensive bit of fabric - but worth it if it fires your child's imagination

...When a new baby comes along, it's almost inevitable that an older sibling will feel left out, at least some of the time. One of the things we found most helpful was to get the older one involved with what we were doing with the baby. Since our new arrival spent most of her time in a sling (couldn't possibly have managed without one - left us hands-free to play!) our older children wanted to carry her too. I wasn't quite sure I was ready for that. but having a "baby" of their own to care for helped to keep them busy - and of course, given that our baby was in a sling so much their babies had to be too! We tried making a wrap sling (since that was what we were mostly using) but the tying was a bit complicated for a young child and took too long for their patience to cope with if we did it for them. Advantages: Great british comedy with a brilliant soundtrack.
Disadvantages: Hard to find any but missing some of my favourite sketches.

The DVD begins with mobile phone man himself in a scene entitled "I'm on a hands free" where he really is and not only is he on a hands free he is also on a mini scooter! As he whistles past an unsuspecting crowd outside a restraunt he lets out his massive, bellowing "Heeeeellllllllloooooooo" causing near heart problems for plenty of the passers by. The next sketch is another absolute classic as Dom poses as a recruiting officer for British Intelligence. The girl in the sketch is fantastic as she finds absolutely no problem with living a life abroad and then when the signal comes slitting a few throats and then running away. As a result I've been using a hands free kit for longer conversations in a vain effort to prevent me knacking me little tiny brain. However now that I heard about these things being more dangerous when you think of it, its a really simple phenomenon. Microwaves can be produced by vibrating currents within a conductor such as a copper wire. Also when microwaves interact with matter they induce currents, so the antenna of you phone produces the em waves, they will induce currents in the wire and will produce even more microwves to fry our fragile minds. Comfy hands free baby transport!

Disadvantages: I didn't buy one for my first baby!

...I was given the Tomy Safari baby sling as a present for my second baby and it is great to use when out and about as it keeps your hands free for shopping or holding onto a toddler! It cost £30 from Mothercare (they also sell them in Babies R Us and most other nursery shops). It is predominately black but has a leopard "safari" print inside where the baby sits (so Dad's should not be embarrassed to wear it either!) It is suitable for babies from 0 - 12 months or up to 21lbs, which means it should last longer than some other baby slings. It offers good support for a newborn and has fleecy padded leg holes. The baby can either face outwards or towards you and there are sufficient fastenings to adjust according to the baby's size. If your baby falls asleep whilst in it, you can remove it from yourself and just lie him down...

Disadvantages: Getting on can be a bit of a pain.

...is secure. With having to keep an eye on my 5 year old and with all those things to look at in shops you do need your hands free! After using the sling a few times you get used to putting it on and it becomes easier. Overall it is useful, but it may not be for some people....
