Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Hanks a Lot

Advantages: Amazing set, feather-light script, nice performances

To achieve this end, he has mixed the cream of the Hollywood crop with an appealing bunch of largely unknown supporting actors to create a group of sympathetic characters. And then he plonked them down in a fully functional facsimile of an airport terminal. Though it may look real, the whole thing was built in an aircraft hangar in California, decked out with all of the usual retail outlets and departure boards and peopled with a crack team of extras. Advantages: Brilliant virtuoso performance by Hanks
Disadvantages: sometimes a little slow

...One of the most hyped films in recent weeks has been Tom Hanks' latest to-be-Oscar-nominated 'CAST AWAY'. I had looked forward to seeing this film since I first heard about it over a month ago and was definately NOT disappointed! Tom Hanks had purposely put on weight(for the first part of the film) and grew a real 'Grizly Adams' style beard - for the second half just for the film. I have always liked anything related to the ocean (apart from Perfect Storm !) and Hanks is hard to beat so..... these things all added to the anxiously awaiting Castaway's release. The Horror Of Tom Hanks

Advantages: Quirky Halloween Rip Off
Disadvantages: Just general points, mainly caused by poor editing.

...embarked on an affair with her college professor. While the other picks up a young man called Elliot while out jogging; Elliot incidentally is played by a very young Tom Hanks. Here as per usual Hanks is playing his role for laughs, his first line is a comic one and most of the lines that follow are along a comedy theme. The one annoying fact of the movie is that in the same house that the girls live in is a 10 year old girl called Diane; it?s never explained who the hell Diane is. And you have no real gauge of understanding the age of the three housemates, could they have had a child pregnancy? The fashions and hairstyles don?t go anywhere near the right direction to address the age of the girls who could either by 18 or 30. There are a number of sub plots burning all at the same time, this helps to make the fairly amateurish storyline...

Hanks in hilarity shocker

Advantages: A slick, dark comedy
Disadvantages: Neither dark enough for Coen fans or comedic enough for mainstream movie-goers

We get a little back story for each of them, with the General managing a doughnut shop, Lump playing American football (badly), Garth Pancake as an animal handler for TV adverts and Gawain MacSam working as a cleaner on the showboat. I despise Tom Hanks; he?s spent so long playing the everyman in worthy films that I see him as a bland void that blights every movie he?s in. It?s hard to remember that he started out in comedy vehicles like ?Big? and ?The Money Pit?. Thankfully he has retained his comic timing to give one of the year?s most surprising and delightful turns. Now call me tight (no that wasn?t an invite), but I like bargains and freebies and am not ashamed to say so. My quest took me to enough sites to hire DVDs for about four months so far (with plenty to come too). My latest free DVD site also happens to be the best I have tried for several reasons (see rest of op); the site in question is Blockbuster.co.uk.
