Great capacity hard disk for the price, stylish and simple too.
Advantages: Great Value, very reliable
Disadvantages: Short cables, and shows up fingerprints
...I purchased the LaCie 1TB as my first external hard drive, about 6 months ago. I wasn't sure how much space I would be needing, but as the LaCie was on offer for £75 for 1TB I couldn't really resist.
The promotional literature for this Hard disk seems to keep reminding us that it was designed by Neil Poulton, someone who I'm not aware of, but must be pretty good judging by the design of this product.
It is rare when talking about an external hard drive that style is a talking point, but in this case it is. It's a sleek black elegant looking case, very very shiny. At the front there is a small strip of blue light that activates whenever the hard drive is turned on, everything else it on the panel at the back (on switch, connectors and vent) making the device very uncluttered and minimalist.
What I will say though, is it would probably...

LaCie 1 TB Big Disk Hard Drive
Advantages: Capacity, looks, decent manual, cheap
Disadvantages: A bit slow, a lot to lose in one go
...With people starting to amass more and more data on their PCs, the old methods of backup such as tape or CD & DVD are becoming woefully inadequate. As a result, by far the most cost efficient method for either storing data or backing it up is the external hard drive.
That said, 1TB or 1 Terrabyte is a crazy amount of space and the sort of storage that would have kept a multinational company ticking over nicely ten years ago.
The LaCie (pronounced Lassie, like the dog) 1TB unit is a reasonably basic device that only has a USB2 (although USB1 is supported) interface and comes with a suitable lead, external power supply and software CD. It can work with both PCs and Macs although by default it's formatted for PC use so Mac users will need to reformat it first but that's no hardship really.
On first opening the box, it looks really...

External Hard-drive fit for rugged adventures
Advantages: Fast transfer speed, protection from knocks and drops
Disadvantages: Fairly high price
...they have less than what they state. For e.g. a 320 GB hard-drive will have about 290 GB, which is quite a chunk away from the stated amount. So, looking at the LaCie external hard-drive you will be looking at a memory capacity of 230-240 GB, which in this case is not a large chunk, but is still considerable.
There is no known reason why all hard-drives (including the LaCie) have less memory than stated, it may be due to the internal disk within the outer case not being able to hold the stated amount or it may be that company's want to make a profit out of its customers. No on really knows. If you don't believe me about the memory capacity of a hard drive being less than stated, you can yourself check your hard-drives capacity by going into 'My Computer' and then right clicking the computer hard-drive icon and going into its properties...

Xbox 360 120GB Hard Drive
Advantages: Lots of space for all your gaming needs.
Disadvantages: Price, Dust, Missing GB
...My personal experience with the Xbox 360 hard drive has been fairly positive. The ability to store music, films, videos and of course games saves is one that no Xbox gamer should be without. 120 GB of memory is more than enough for the average gamer. The hard drive is well designed to blend with the console perfectly. It is small and easy to store.
However the price is pretty heavy compared to the cheaper 20GB versions. A problem with the memory is the fact that the hard drive does not actually have 120GB, obviously it wouldn't be exactly due to the need for the running files but several GB are actually missing. Regular cleaning is advised as dust tends to collect on the hard drive but a sharp blow into the docking port is sufficient to clear this.
All in all this product is an incredibly useful addition to any Xbox 360 gamers...

Xbox 360 Hard Drive Hard To Do Without.
Advantages: Huge amounts of storage, durable, can take game saves everywhere.
Disadvantages: Price.
...The Xbox 360 120GB removable hard drive is a great item to buy for any Xbox 360 gamer. The larger hard drive has become even more useful with the coming of the ability to buy or rent movies via the Xbox Live Marketplace. Considering each movie is around 1GB in size (and even larger if downloaded in HD) conventional size Hard Drives will rapidly be eaten up.
The removable hard drive is also extremely easy to use, it slides clips on the size of the Xbox 360 console, and absolutely no further setup is required. It is equally as easy to remove, you simply have to push in the button and lift it out of position. Its relatively small size then comes in handy, as you can carry it to your friends house and fit it on their console. All of your game saves and your gamercard can now be accessed on their console and provided they have access to...

Lacie Desktop Hard Disk 320 GB
Advantages: Does what it says on the tin.
Disadvantages: Disadvantages?!
...During my final year of uni, this little gem turned out to be a Godsend. Doing a course which required a lot of camera work, I needed somewhere to store all the raw footage, which anyone who's ever worked with footage from a high quality video camera knows, takes up a hell of a lot of space.
So I needed somewhere to keep it locked away safely to take around from uni computer to uni computer. My weapon of choice for an external hard drive was the Lacie Desktop Hard Disk 320 GB.
Having brought it online for just under £50, that instantly stuck me as a bargain. Purchased approximately 18 months ago, that was a steal. Naturally, with the passing of time and the increasing availability of external hard drives, the price of this items has began to fall, as is the case with all types of technology.
Once plugged in and inserted into a USB...

A hard to damage hard drive!
Advantages: Tough, fast and inexpensive!
Disadvantages: None to date.
...External hard drives seem to be getting ever more popular, it seems no matter how big the PC or laptop`s own drive is it`s never enough. This particular external hard drive is designed to be portable so as well as having the extra space you might need you also have the option of being able to take this drive along to friends or family`s houses or even to work and instantly have access to all the files you need or even just want.
The Iomega eGo Portable Hard Drive in question has a 250Gb capacity which when used along with your original hard drive or probably even on its own is more than enough for most. Some external hard drives look and are very bulky and cumbersome, this one being designed to be portable is a lot less so. It is fairly light weight but very robust and also has the distinct advantage of looking good which a lot...

No Fuss, No Click Backup Hard Drive
Advantages: Easy to use even for beginners.
Disadvantages: None that I have found.
...Having experienced one or two fatal computer crashes in the past and lost every single file on my hard drive and on the first occasion without a back-up, I have been very careful about backing up my files to DVD disks since, but it was quite a slow and laborious task waiting for those disks to burn, and then on some occasions I would get that dreaded message, "back-up failed!" appear on the screen and have to start all over again!
Watching the QVC shopping channel one Sunday morning, I noticed that they were demonstrating the ClickFree external hard drive, and all you had to do was to plug it in to your USB port and wait. It would search and back-up every file on your hard drive without you having to click or do anything, and then once it had done its job, all you had to do was simply unplug it and put it away. This was something that...

Xbox hard drive - store what you want!
Advantages: good hard drive which looks nice and can store whatever you want!
Disadvantages: quite expensive - but you can still do alot with it!
...If you own an Xbox 360 then it is almost impossible to really utilise everything that is available to you without having this 20GB hard drive. If you own the premium console or the elite then you will be fine as these already come with their own hard drives. However if you have bought the arcade console or the core console then i would certainly advise buying a hard drive so that you can really fulfill the potential of such a great console and get the most out of xbox live.
I originally bought the premium console, which later broke so I bought the arcade console, but fortunately I already had my hard drive and just moved it to my new console - I would have to say that this hard drive is indispensable and extremely important part of my console as it has so many different purposes.
The actual hard drive:
The hard drive is quite...

External Hard Drive Fun
Advantages: Size, Easy to Use, Quick, Simple
Disadvantages: Could be a little bigger in capacity
...This small external hard drive is very similar to some of the portable flash/pen drives that are going around at the moment. When I bought it a couple of years ago I was very impressed with what it could do making it easy to take files back and forth no matter where I went on a day to day basis. At the moment this external hard drive is selling for an average of £30 to £35 which isn't too bad.
Power
**********
Like some of the USB flash drives that going around at the moment this external hard drive can draw power directly from the USB that is been used to transfer data back and forth which means there is no need for any additional power cables etc that you would expect with some devices.
Design
**********
The beauty about this external hard drive is that is starts off as a square/rectangular shaped device which is able to...
