Nowadays 80GB is not enough for anyone as programs are now increasing in size due to their complexity and what they have to offer. A hard drive is a non-volatile storage device which stores digitally encoded data on rapidly rotating platters with magnetic surfaces. Non-volatile storage is simply the name given to a storage device which can retain stored data even when not powered. With a volatile storage device being one that can not retain saved data e.g. RAM (Random Access Memory). I used to have an 80 GB hard drive in the past on my "OLD" PC, which was about 5 years ago. This hard drive is very easy to install to your Pc or laptop, it comes with a disc with the necessary drivers on it and a manual with all the instructions stated in a clear and concise manor. It takes little over two minutes to get the hard drive recognised and up and running and of course once it's been plugged in once it is instantly recognised the next time. I have found it very fast in its ability to transfer files whether it be to the hard drive form your PC or laptop or vice versa. It handles every type of file that any PC or laptop will and reacts in exactly the same way as an internal hard drive would. It is an excellent piece of equipment and although it is the only one I have used a very good friend of mine was very impressed with the speeds of this hard drive... Read review

...This hard drive is an external unit that can connect to a PC using either a USB or Firewire cable. With a high-speed USB port (USB2) or with Firewire, the speed of this drive is much the same as a conventional internal hard drive, and fine not just for storing data, but also for running applications off of. Be warned though that, as is often the case, it will be considerably slower when connected to a conventional USB port (USB1.1), due to bandwidth limitations. It comes supplied with both USB and Firewire cables. The drive also requires a connection to the mains, through a supplied transformer that provides the drive with 12V DC, 3A. It is not capable of being powered solely from the USB/Firewire port.
