Advantages: the funky pop of Talking Heads combined with some killer tunes

...If you love mid period Talking Heads then you'll love this 1981 solo album from Heads keyboard player Jerry Harrison. Keeping the multilayered polyrhythms of Remain In Light and adding an outright funky sheen Jerry created the best Talking Heads album that the band never made. Assisted by keyboard wizard Bernie Worrell, guitarist Adrian Belew and singer Nona Hendryx (all of whom had graced the expanded touring line up of the Heads during 1980) Jerry's style of music is pure funky pop. The album was originally going to be broadly instrumental with Hendryx and Dolette Macdonald adding wordless singing. But Jerry was persuaded by the others that he could sing so the tunes became songs. Harrisons Cave, Barbados

Advantages: Well explained, interesting, something for all the family
Disadvantages: Not that easy to find

...Harrison's caves are in the parish of St. Thomas they are quite difficult to find due to the fact that in Barbados they feel it is only necessary to put up a sign post every so often. Meaning that you will have come to several turn offs and junctions and not have a clue which way to go, its pot luck really!!! An island map is essential in this country! But as for the caves when you get there, they are fantastic, they are truly beautiful. The tours are well organised and regular. The tour guides are well informed and the whole experience was delightful and a must for families. You really won't believe your eyes when you see the stalactites, stalagmites, streams, lakes and underground waterfalls, its like being in an enchanted fairy tale world. As your looking at the amazing wonders before your eyes it is difficult to believe that...

Harrison Ford is President!

Advantages: Great action film
Disadvantages: Some improbable moments

...Air Force 1 is the 1997 film starring Harrison Ford and directed by Wolfgang Peterson which takes place mainly on the President of the United States' jet plane, named Air Force 1. It is a well filmed, praised film which pits an on form Harrison Ford against terrorists. It received 2 Oscar nominations and is another tick in the plus column of Ford's films. President James Marshall (Ford) is an ex-soldier. When Air Force 1 is hijacked with him on it, he reverts back into soldier mode to try and save everyone on the plane, including his family. The film has a very basic plot, but is filmed with high intensity to give maximum impact. Peterson does well in controlling this film and not letting it become too cheesy. There are moments where the improbably occur, particularly regarding some of the technical specifications of the plane...

Review of Air Force One (DVD)

The perils of war.....

Advantages: Cinematography, acting, tension
Disadvantages: Drags at beginning

...Harrison's Flowers is a film that seems to have slipped under the radar, and truth be told, I only watched it because the DVD was given to me for free. It is a hard hitting, stark portrayal of war ravaged Yugoslavia, showing the danger that war photographers put themselves in to bring us the pictures that we take for granted. Harrison (David Stathairn) is a Pullitzer winning photographer, with a steady source of competition around him. However, when the chips are down, everyone rallies together, and rivalries are forgotten, none moreso than in this film. When Harrison, taking one last job on in Yugoslavia before retiring to spend time with his family, is reported as dead, his wife Sarah (Andie MacDowell) refuses to believe it until she sees his body. She is so determined that she manages to sneak her way into the war ravaged area...

...I was lucky enough to win five books from Waterstones after a 'competition' via Twitter. When I found out I was a winner, I was actually quite exciting. I didn't know what books I was going to be receiving, but I had a feeling it was not going to be my usual choices! With the hope that it would open my eyes to different genres and authors, I waited (somewhat) patiently for them to arrive. The binding chair... not a bind to read at all.

Advantages: An incite into an unknown world.
Disadvantages: Sometimes a little uncomfortable to read.

...On one of my many, many trips to my local library I was thrilled to discover that there was another book sale, unfortunately the books on sale were not of the usual reading material that I go for, hence the review I will now write. The book I will now review is ? The binding chair by Kathryn Harrison? As I stated earlier this is not the sort of book I would normally go for, more of a semi fictional history book this only appealed in the fact that it was A, on sale for 20p, and B, I liked the cover! (Sorry I am so shallow!). The cover doesn?t really give much indication as to what the book is about, aside from the fact that the binding chair in question is the piece of apparatus that Chinese girls sat in to have there feet bound. Not being that knowledgeable on the subject of Chinese history or the barbaric traditions behind...
