Working for Harrods

Advantages: Decent pay rate, Frequent overtime available, Looks good on CV, Worker discounts, friendly staff from all over the world, relaxed working environment (in some departments)
Disadvantages: Commuting to Knightsbridge (cost and hassle on tubes), Overzealous security and administration, Dirty staff toilets!

...Introduction - I have been spurred on to write this review having read a brilliant review concerning working for Tesco by ciao member tiabailey. I will try to replicate the level of depth that review went into as it was extremely helpful. Beginnings - I wandered into the recruitment centre for Harrods which is located in the Crown Court building in Basil Street directly opposite door six of the main Harrods' building in summer 2004. I was 18 and looking for some full time temping work for the summer. By shear luck (and trust me this hardly ever happens) I was given an interview immediately for a position working in a warehouse store support department. Review of Harrods, Knightsbridge

Online shopping from Harrods.

Advantages: Nice products, good quality.
Disadvantages: A little Pricey.

I first found out about the Harrods website when a received a Christmas teddy from my best friends in 2003 and commented on the fact that I didn't know they had been to London. The fact was they hadn't and had ordered the bear online. After that point I have used Harrods online several times, mainly for special gifts and sale items. --*-- The Site --*-- The Harrods web-site is quite smart looking using a colour scheme or primarily white, dark green and black. This gives off the classy, sophisticated look that one would expect from Harrods. Harrods, The World Famous Store.

Advantages: Beautiful Store, An experience in itself
Disadvantages: Very Expensive and Do not go at sale/time unless you want to save lots of money.

Harrods WARNING TO ONLINE BUYERS.

Advantages: The London store is fantastic, The online store stay well clear of!
Disadvantages: Took £270 without my consent, wont deliver goods unless i pay again 3 times! = £900. CS are awful

...Don't shop online at Harrods this Christmas! Well unless you don't mind paying three times for goods your not going to get (which was £900) This is the fourth time i have had problems with them, the first time the goods didn't arrive then the next lot weren't what i ordered at all,and the third time they wouldent refund me for 8 weeks i was even charge postage when it was their fault which they would not refund me, i even phoned 14 times but i go nowhere just promised of a call back which NEVER happens. Well i thought maybe things had perked up with Harrods since and all that but OH NO I just spent £300 in Harrods online on the 10% discount day, i never received any email to thank me for payment, that i thought was odd if not a little rude. Harrods is biased

...I would agree with other opinion writers in saying that Harrods is a store where you can find almost everything you could ever dream for, (including that designer jacket you know you couldnt live without!!). However, there are a few things about Harrods that i doubt people visting London would know, or Harrods would want you to know. Harrods has a strange door and admittance policy. You can be asked to leave, and even thrown out if you are wearing vests, ripped jeans, or anything else the store staff consider undesirable. A couple of famous people with healthy bank balances have been removed from the store. Worse than that, there has been an incident where a woman was asked to leave as her clothing was not considered nice enough, but get this, she had bought the clothes she was wearing from harrods!!! Another bad example...

HARRODS - Shopping for the upperclass

Harrods - A world class shopping experiance

...This is the most fantastically wonderful shop in this country and any other i have been in. There heavy established branding of Harrods is synonymous with the words quality and excellence. With an emphesis on my most favourite area of the store, the food halls. The food ranges from humble fruit and veg to the most expensive caviar. With delights everywhere you turn, they have speciality blends of teas, which for any tea-drinker are well worth the money. Within the Foodhall there are many well known and loved concessions such as Krispy Kreme, which is worth the visit itself However the quailty of the store does come at a price and majority of the time that is percepted as expensive. Harrods more than just a shop

Advantages: An ambition met for me, but also a visit to a respected shop

...We dont often go to London and my youngest could not even remember the last time she went. So a fortnight ago we decided that we would go and make a day of it and see the sights and shopping. Where did my daughters want to go first? No not London Eye or even Big Ben but to Harrods. We had heard that they had a very strict dress code. We all scrubbed up well and decided that we were sure to be let in after all we didnt have jeans on, or trainers, and though I say it myself looked quite respectable. We got there and sailed right in. They also let someone in looking rather scruffy, someone in shorts and lots with trainers on so it seems that this just does not apply now adays. We thought that it would be rather expensive and that there would be nothing in the price range we could afford. We were greatly surprised...

Pathetic service Harrods online ordering

Advantages: online
Disadvantages: useless customer service failing to deal with wrong delivery

...disappointment and asking for someone to advise if the polar bear had been sent / would be sent - so i would know whetehr to buy another Xmas gfit. No repsonse !! Emailed again - no response. Rang again - at last someone who had the guts to advise that nothing had been done at all about the problem / despatch - it had merely been passed to accounts. Asked to speak to Complaints Dept. No one available - but someone would ring me back. That was 24.12.07. I am still waiting for the call. Emailed again 2.1.08 requesting full refund for polar bear, post and repsot of wrongly delivered item & copied contents of email by post too since they seem very shy of replying to emails - & cc to Mr M. Fayed if he's remotely interested in the pathetic service his establishment provides. Needless to say I won't be using Harrods ever again based on this...
