Harrow, a different experience

Advantages: cool, green, quiet, less populated with lower tourist around
Disadvantages: Far from central london

...Harrow is in north west side of London. I haven not been lived there but have been there many times. Most of areas of Harrow falls in travel zone five of london. Most of tube station falls on metropolitin line with dark purple color on tube map. Major stops of harrows are North harrow, South harrow, West harrow, Harrow on the hill. It is surrounded by wembley, kenton, neasdon, kingsbury, queensbury etc. All of these areas have major population of asians specially Indians. Harrow is one of my favourite area in London because it is very cool. No hassles of city life as in central london. Most of residential area are quiet. It contain lots of green patches. So it looks like country side of England rather than area of London city. I had travelled through bus inside areas of Harrow and it is completely pleasure. If you are on upper deck...

Review of Harrow, London

Keep it UP!!

Advantages: Getting fit, feel healthy, Free TV, Set your own HARDNESS!
Disadvantages: Willpower required! Not good for Woosies!!

..., Harrow. The British Rail and Underground (Metropolitan line) stations are about an 8 minute walk away (Think fitness, jog there in 4 mins!). Harrow bus station is right by the train station so lop off a minute in travelling to the Gym. Harrow: Basically its NW London, not as far out as Watford or Uxbridge. Harrow Town Centre: This consists of two small shopping centres and 2 roads with many shops in. Nearest to the bus/train station is the St.Annes centre. Once you walk through this turn left into the street (St.Anns Road) and this takes you up to St.Georges Centre. Once inside walk to the other end of the centre and you can take the escalator to the first floor, then walk up to the 2nd floor. Of course, if your gagging to get going, just use the staircase to run briskly up to the 2nd floor. Parking: If driving then use the St...

Enjoy your Stay at the Comfort Hotel

Advantages: Friendly staff, modern facilities, good value
Disadvantages: Some areas of the hotel not as clean as others

...We have recently come back from a weekend away down in London. The trip was not purely a leisure break - although we did of course make the most of our time by perusing some of the sights in the capital. The main reason, however, for us going to London was so that my mum could attend a hospital appointment which was arranged for early on the Monday morning. Rather than travel down on the day and risk being late, we decided to travel down by train on the Saturday and make a long weekend of it. The hospital my mum attends is near Harrow, in Middlesex. After searching online for hotels in the local area, we came across the Comfort Inn hotel, which is located 5-10 minutes walk from Northwick Park underground station (on the Metropolitan Line). This was ideal as it was just a short walk away from the hospital, Northwick Park and St. Marks...

Review of Comfort Inn Harrow, London

WHY ARE SOME HOTELS SO INAPPROPRIATELY NAMED?

Advantages: Convenient for London, on-site parking, wireless internet, good lager
Disadvantages: very small rooms for very high prices

...When visiting London, quite often, I take the car, park it in Harrow and get the tube in. So the first time I had to stay, the concept of doing the same, and staying at a hotel with on-site parking was pretty much the same. The venue on this occasion was the Quality Hotel, Harrow where I vaguely remembered staying when the Swans won at Wembley (but that's another story). Although it had been renovated since my last stay, I am afraid that, from my limited experience, never was a chain of hotels more inappropriately named. Part of the Choice Hotels Europe group, the quality brand sits between Comfort at the bottom of the chain, and Clarion at the top, so what is on offer at a Comfort doesn't bear thinking about. I seem to remember vaguely that this particular outlet was once a Comfort but presumably changed its name when...

The invasion of Notting Hill

Advantages: Colourful costumes, funky music
Disadvantages: Overcrowding, criminal elements, litter

...The Notting Hill Carnival takes place on August Bank holiday Sunday and Monday every year. Being a local resident, I used to join in the fun and shake my body freely in the streets. Now, the Carnival has become the biggest street event in Europe attended by two millions people. The event is just getting too big to be held in residential streets. It’s not too bad on the first day as it is Children’s Carnival on Sunday. On Monday when the main Carnival is held, some parts of the streets can get dangerously overcrowded. Due to concerns of crowd safety, live stages featuring Radio 1, MTV and Gorillaz have already been cancelled. And because of the serious crime of fatal stabbing and shooting in previous years, more police resources are now needed for the huge event. London Mayor Ken Livingstone has been pressing...

LONDON'S CALLING

Advantages: Pleasent stay, good food, central location
Disadvantages: Views from room

...eateries/drinking places and chose 372, which offers carvery selection. I was surprise how hot and fresh the food was. Not only that it was tasty too! We opted for lamb with roast potatoes, new potatoes and three vegetables. However, my only complaint about the meal was the vegetables; they were a tad on the raw side for my liking. That said I ALWAYS OVER cook my veggies. Dessert was for me home made apple pie and cream, while the other half opted for home made cheesecake ? both were consumed without any complaints and very much enjoyed. Our meal for two with drinks cost £29) Hotel: the hotel it situated in the Strand which is in central London and easy to walk to theatres such as the Aldwych, Lyceum, and many more. Come out the front of the hotel and turn right, and you?ll be heading towards Trafalgar square with Nelson, bear left and you...

North London Wallabies

Advantages: more to do for children, animals, free entrance
Disadvantages: not quite as easy to get to if you don't know the area

...Golders Hill Park, or the Hampstead Heath Extension, is a relatively large park (although not when compared to the Heath itself, unsurprisingly), which is more Golders Green than Hampstead and a lot more 'manageable' than the Heath. It isn't the kind of park you can get lost in (unlike the Heath which I manage to get lost in, almost every time I go!). It is certainly more of a 'landscaped' park than the Heath, it has a little flower garden, and some rock gardens as well as a lake with requisite ducks and geese, which of course, require feeding regularly from local children. The piece-de-resistance however, is the small collection of animals. At the far end of the park there is a mini zoo, really. Well, it is a very mini zoo, I wouldn't like anyone to get the wrong idea! There is a very large enclosure with different types of deer...

The Hills

Advantages: Funny, tacky
Disadvantages: None

...The Hills is my guilty little pleasure. There's backstabbing, friendships, boyfriends, clubbing, making up, breaking up, in fact this programme has everything! The Hills is actually a spin-off television series from the very popular show, Laguna Beach. This show followed a bunch of high school students through their life in Laguna Beach, California, a very affluent, beautiful area right on the coast of Southern California. One of the main characters was Lauren Conrad, often referred to as LC. She, in my opinion is quite a pretty, nice mannered girl, if somewhat spoilt. She has the clothes, looks, long blond hair and drives a very nice convertible car. I do like her and I think she is quite entertaining. She often seems to have a rough ride where some of her friends are concerned but that is life, and more importantly that is life...

LUXURY IN LONDON!

Advantages: Brilliant rooms, service, food, internet etc
Disadvantages: expensive!!!

...In the middle of February, I was lucky enough to be whisked away for a long weekend in London with my grandma. I?m a huge fan of west end shows and musicals, and so our trip was booked- we would go and see various different shows. I couldn?t wait to go. One thing I hadn?t thought of before going however was which hotel we were staying in. I reckoned that we wouldn?t be spending too much time in the hotel itself, as we were going to be very busy, so as long as it had two beds, a bathroom and some sort of wardrobe I?d have been happy. I knew the name of the hotel was The Grosvenor, however I didn?t have a clue what its reviews were like, or in fact how many stars it had. Getting to the hotel We had absolutely no problem finding the hotel. We took the train from our hometown, to King?s Cross in London. We only had to wait...
