Vauxhall Vectra 1.8i Club Hatchback

Advantages: Nice looking, good space, cheap to buy compared to similar vehicles
Disadvantages: slightly underpowered, expensive to run

...are no adults in the back. Being a hatchback you have plenty of boot space, maybe why the rear seat space is small. You can fit a double pram and a single pushchair plus still have space for some shopping. Or look at it another way, you can fit a large single pram a kids bike and a kids scooter for those little day trips out. Plus on top of this, if you peel back the rubber on the roof edges there are factory made bolt holes, you can get a roof rack that is specially designed (£75 from Vauxhall) for this but I've seen same one on an M reg cavalier. ~ Maintenance~ To keep my warranty I have to have all work done by a recognised garage so I take it to a Vauxhall main dealer. A powerful diesel hatchback

Advantages: The engine, performance, looks, equipment, general finish
Disadvantages: The gear change between 5th & 6th, leg room in the rear

...The Vauxhall Astra has been with us since 1979 in various guises & is constantly in the top selling list of cars in the UK ever since. The reason that the Astra has proved popular is due to its modern designs, the fact that it is usually well equipped, cheap to run & insure & despite its reliability concerns its quite simple & cheap to repair. A recent 270 mile blast to central Scotland in the new Astra Diesel gave me an opportunity to assess the latest model. I fell in love with a C5 2.0 HDi hatchback!

Advantages: comfort, style, economy, space
Disadvantages: not a nippy speedy car

Review of Renault Clio 1.4 16v

Hatchback with style

Advantages: All the extras required, Not too many on road to make it common.
Disadvantages: Doesn't hold it's price as well as German cars

...mirrors, power steering, electric windows, remote central locking and alarm, electric sunroof and alloys was a major deciding factor. In fact, there is very little in this car you wouldn't find in a top of the range model of any car. The car is comfortable to sit in (which being 6'3" is something to say about the car) , the gearbox is firm and sporty whilst the acceleration is something to marvel at in a hatchback. The car holds the road brilliantly going around corners but does have quite a hard ride over bumps due to the low profile tyres. It is fair to say that since I have had this car I have fallen in love with it. If anything happened to this car, I would go straight out and buy another just like it. I have driven Ford Fiestas, Renault Clios and 5s, VW Golfs, Audi A3's and Vauxhall Corsas but this is by far and away the best car I have...

  Outstanding Oil Burner

Advantages: Comfortable, versatile, economic. Good resale values.
Disadvantages: Lack of boot space. It's STILL a diesel!

...out of my sight for fear of theft! The Focus took the rest of the luggage without too much problem, but certainly I could never consider it as a potential purchase if for no other reason that my golf clubs simply didn?t fit properly in the boot as the car wasn?t wide enough. God only knows how you would manage if you were going on a golfing holiday with a couple of mates, and you had to fit not one but three sets of golf clubs into the back!
