...I run a network suite of 7 computers that link to a central server. I host servers for online multiplayer gaming ranging from First person shooters, simulations and Role Playing Games. It is important for me to have sufficient network coverage as there is a high bandwidth need. I use a hi gain wireless device to connect to my servers for admin purposes only. I find that wireless security is better than wired. I live in a wide covered wireless zone where lots of signals are being sent to and from other wireless devices. Sometimes it can get hard to communicate with other devices as there is too much traffic in the area using a conventional wireless network card. Because my servers are stored in a different location to where I live I would usually have to travel to the site to administrate the mainframes and it would take time out...

Belkin Wireless G - Cheap and cheerful wireless adapter

Disadvantages: Breaks easily, driver problems in Vista

I paid £19.99 for the adaptor in PC world who only had Belkin at the time which I thought was not expensive. However installing it was a nightmare. Buffalo WBMR-G54 wireless router - a real buffalo?

...I bought this router from a local Argos shop at an emergency situation i.e. I want it now and therefore not at the best price - 49.99. Reason: My all singing and all dancing Dynamode R-ADSL-C4W-EG - wireless router had lost its main function, 'internet connectivity' after a month or so of continuous use (see my other review, now updated, for details). All is left is wireless communication i.e. useless. The return of this router back to Amazon caused me a week (lots of emails + recorded delivery + check that the refund includes the recorded delivery etc) For Argos, there is an obvious advantage - if there is something wrong with it, I just take it back for a refund/replacement on the same day. Belkin G+ Mimo wireless router

Advantages: Wireless with 4 wired ports. Good range and speed.

I opted for this model as it also includes 4 wired ports (I play my Xbox 360 online and prefer it to be 'hard wired'. The unit is nice and light and looks smart in its silvery grey colour.
