WIRELESS GAMING - AT A PRICE
Advantages: Wireless connectivity to Xbox live, Simply to setup
Disadvantages: Ridiculously expensive, Doesn't come in black to match my Xbox 360 Elite
...If, like me, you have an Xbox 360, you will no doubt be aware of the dynamic and enjoyable facility available to you online, namely Xbox live. Xbox live is a place where you can download demos and game add-ons, chat to your friends, and stream movies and videos direct to your Xbox 360 in glorious high definition. But while the Nintendo Wii and the Sony Playstation 3 can go online straight from the box without any additional hardware, Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom, decided not to include wireless connectivity as standard in the Xbox 360.
This leaves you with a couple of options should you wish to get your Xbox 360 online; an Ethernet cable from your router is probably the cheapest way, but in these wireless days I was really looking at reducing the cables stretching around my home, not add to them. There is another method...

Bring Wireless Connectivity to the Xbox 360
Advantages: No need for wires. Reliable
Disadvantages: Over inflated cost.
...Introduction
It is hard to believe that in this day and age where wifi internet connections are the norm, that the Xbox 360 console, does not ship with a built in wireless network adapter. The Playstation 3 has this built in and even the Wii manages it too, so why have Microsoft decided to omit it from the Xbox? In my opinion, the answer is simple, it is hard work to bridge a connection from your laptop and the majority of Xbox users will not have their console in close proximity to their router. Therefore, the only other alternative is to spend £60 and buy the Microsoft Wireless network adapter. Microsoft have been cute here, there are plenty of wireless USB wifi internet dongles on the market, all retailing for considerably less than the £60 Microsoft are asking, however, none of these will work with the Xbox, meaning...

WIRELESS PS3 SIXAXIS CONTROLLER
Advantages: WIRELESS; SIMPLE TO USE
Disadvantages: GAME DEVELOPERS NOT MAKING MOST OF SIXAXIS
...I bought a Playstation 3 around 4 months ago and, so far I can't fault the SIXAXIS controller for what I use it for.
They've bascally kept the original Playstation 2 controller but made it wireless and added the SIXAXIS system to it.
This is a motion sensor that is built in to the controller which senses which way you are leaning the controller and moves as you do but to be honest I found this pretty pointless due to not needing it at all, it just makes the game so much harder.
I've tried using it with a few games and with some it's better than others but I still stick to the original normal controls as I find them a lot easier to use.
So quite frankly my opinion is, I'm glad they've kept the controller the same as from the PS2 but thought that the addition of the SIXAXIS system was a bit of a waste of time unless the game...

Xbox 360 wireless adapter
Advantages: Does exactly what is required of it
Disadvantages: too expensive
...The xbox 360 wireless adapter is essentially, exactly what it says on the tine, it is only required as a neccesity to get onto xbox live in a place usin a wireless network, microsfot have seized on this opportunity to charge over the odds for a small piece of plastic , retailing in the region of £60 , especially when you consider the nintendo Wii has a wireless adapter built in. As a product, the adapter is easy to install, clipping onto the back of the console, reliable and discreet, offering flawless online gameplay as if it were connected via ethernet cable. The only downside to this is the price and i for one feel it should be included in the console package to fully compete with other consoles...

Wireless ready!
Advantages: Plug-and-Play
Disadvantages: Pricey!
...Having tried to connect my 360 via ethernet to my wireless connection, through my Mac or my Windows laptop, and having no success, this provided the only feasible solution.
Unfortunately, unlike the PS3, the Xbox 360 is not wireless-ready out of the box, and in order to make it so, you must invest a further £50+, which is quite a pain in the rear.
Unfortunately, it seems that, in making the console itself so cheap and appealing, Microsoft aim (as always) to make their money on the peripherals, which everybody needs for the full gaming experience.
Nevertheless, this does exactly what it says on the box (sorry to be cliched).
Plug-and-Play, as expected, you connect it to your console and through your dashboard, search for your wireless connection and, with your WEP key or security key at hand, you can instantly connect to your...

Lets put on the ol' wireless
Advantages: Wireless gaming, ligth control, great control, works, long battery life
Disadvantages: Can cost a lot new
...Wireless gaming always seemed a pointless gimmick to me when it first came about, it was going to be battery heavy running through them so quickly it was pointless, another in a long line of gaming ideas that just flat out sucked. The Virtual Boy, the Sega Saturn, The N-Gage we'd all heard the hype about them and they flopped, so badly that on the whole we've tried to forget we ever thought they'd be cool. Wireless gaming, I felt would be another, a flash in the pan for some third party control developers to rinse us of cash with at the end of the PS2's life span.
Then the start of this generation touched down and boy was I wrong, the Xbox controls and the Wiimote and the Six Axis controls really rubbed in my face how wrong I was. They proved it wasn't just another silly idea but the future of gaming, the way forward, the next step...

Sony Official PS3 SIXAXIS Wireless Controller
Advantages: Great Design
Disadvantages: No Dual Shock
...This is a great controller jus like the classic ps1/ps2 the design stayed the same. This is the perfect controller i can not say anything about the slick design.
As you may know this controller is wireless so you may use it from newere in the room so no messy
wires hanging around. And the batttery lasts very long i dont have to charge it very often but i dont play hours every day either.
Only bad this about this controller is that unlike the ps1/ps2 controllers this does not have dual shock so no rumble :(.This is because sony could not get rights for the technology. Sony what happened?
Well good news this controller is being released again next year as Dual Shock 3 is comming out. So if you can wait i strongly urge you wait for it to come out as it is a great feature. The feeling for the game is lost without dual shock. Need...

Xbox 360 wireless
Advantages: Easy to use, Reliable
Disadvantages: Expensive
...Xbox live is undoubtedly one of the main draws of the Xbox 360, and due to the fatc my Xbox was too far from a wired internet connection, i had to find a wireless way.
The official wireless adapter seemed the best choice, widely availble, and being official, pretty much guaranteed to work.
And thats true, it worked, very easily, simply plugging into the back, then scanning for connections on my xbox, then at the push of a button I was connected.
It is a very good piece of kit, however it is rather expensive, as its counterparts for laptops and PCs would be available much cheaper.
I have had some issues with the internet choosing not to connect, but these are rare, and on occasions the connection can be rather slow.
I would stioll recommend this nonetheles, as it is a reliable piece of equipment that allows Xbox 360 users...

xbox 360 wireless adapter
Advantages: Works quite well most the time
Disadvantages: very expensive
...i got one of these because i didn't want wires everywhere in our house. when i first put it in it wouldn'tt connect up to my wireless router(linksys). i called up a help line and they said that they had no idea how to fix it so i ended up having to buy a new one (netgear). with this it works well most of them time but if it doesn't always work. i think that may be down to the router but it may be the adapter. anyway it works most the time pretty well. i think it is ridiculously over priced thought. When i got it it was £60. but i needed it because i didn't want a load of wires around the house. i thnk they are fairly good and work most of the time but are over priced....
