My faithful friend the tumble dryer.
Review of Hoover HDC6 by
Youngatheard60
Advantages: Very Efficient
Disadvantages: Lot of general maintenance
...Disaster fell six months ago when my tumble dryer died. I am really lazy and use it to dry my washing summer and winter and find it also saves on the ironing. I was desperate to get another one as quickly as possible. I spent time looking at a few models and decided to go for a Hoover. My washing machine was of this manufacture and has been very reliable. I chose the Hoover HDC6. The best deal I found was out of my Littlewoods (LX) catallogue; £249.99 - I haven't got to start paying for it until June this year AND I can pay for it monthly at no extra cost.
The Hoover HDC6 is a condenser type machine. We have a small kitchen so we have to keep the tumble dryer in our garage. As we have to keep the garage door ajar to let the steam out and have had a couple of things stolen in the past, we decided to try one...

Brilliant!
Review of Cortex HDC1000 by
Gokey
Advantages: Very easy to use. The first step towards the new digital age of DJing.
Disadvantages: Technical support is very unhelpful.
...Upon opening the box it appears as though you do not get much for the £499.99 it will set you back if you buy it here in the UK. You get the power cord, a set of metal stands (for use if you decide not to mount the unit in a rack-mount), a large, highly detailed manual and of course the unit itself.
Setting the unit up is easy and the detailed manual guides you through the process well. Once you have it connected to the mains and your mixer you can turn it on, at which point the easy to read, bright blue double displays spring into life showing the words "Insert Storage Device".
What you have to understand with the HDC-1000 is that it cannot INSTANTLY read off your Mass Storage Device (MSD); instead it has to create a database of all the music it can find on the MSD which it then reads from. This database allows it to quickly access...

Intelligent design... quality not quantity!
Review of Panasonic HDC-SD5EG-K by
piratess2104
Advantages: Durability, intelligent design, advanced OS system eliminates shakes, good accessories
Disadvantages: Easy to be ripped off, not always in stock, overhyped, few unsual features
...A review of the new Panasonic HDC-SD5EG-K, a digital camcorder.
SUMMARY: 1) DIMENSIONS/WEIGHT 2) APPEARANCE 3) DURABILITY 4) RECORDING 5) LENS 6) DISPLAY 7) FEATURES 8) ACCESSORIES 9) OVERALL
DIMENSIONS/WEIGHT: This camera is the world's smallest 3CCD High Definition Camcorder, and it's also extremely light, weighing in at less than most of its competitors at 340g.
APPEARANCE: Disappointing. It's just a regular, black camcorder design - only small. No special aesthetics here!
DURABILITY: The design of the camera is unique: the memory cards are internal (built-in) and there are no fragile moving parts in the recording section. Obviously, you have to treat any camera with respect and this camcorder is no different, BUT it's exceptionally durable.
RECORDING: You record in EITHER still images (JPEG, a standard format) or AVCHD motion...

Shooting Star
Review of Panasonic HDC-DX1 by
Zmugzy
Advantages: Lots of features and overall quality make it a good value buy
Disadvantages: Fiddly controls and poor software
...that you are looking for. One drawback however is once the drive is full you have to empty it before you can continue shooting.
The Panasonic HDC-DX1 uses High Definition but makes use of a memory-card slot for portable storage rather than a hard disk. It is one of the first consumer high-definition camcorders to use a new Advanced Video Codec High Definition (AVCHD) recording format. It was jointly developed with Sony and is supposed to allow the camcorder to record 90 minutes of HD footage onto a compact SD (SDHC) card. This has now become a much more viable option as the cost of memory cards has plummeted and the latest camcorders like the DX1EG-S can now squeeze more footage onto even smaller files without impairing digital image quality. In practise I found that I could only squeeze about 1 hour of High Definition recording onto a 4GB SD...

1998 2.0L Diesel Freelander.
Review of Land Rover Freelander 2.0 by
mintymiller
Advantages: The earlier (non turbo) Diesel is willing and reliable.
Disadvantages: Although a little underpowered and can be expensive to service.
...the car up in the depths of winter. I have never taken it off road, so the HDC hasn't been tested by me. Despite its flaws, I really like the car and will replace it with another Freelander or Discovery in due course (like 5 years from now!)...
