I Was So Into This!

Advantages: Romantic, great cast, well thought out

...Occasionally, there comes a film that has such a star-studded cast, you just know it's going to be good. "He's Just Not That Into You" was one such film. When the adverts for this came on the telly a few months ago, big names such as Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Ben Affleck and Scarlett Johansson immediately caught my attention and I knew it was going to be one I wanted to watch. I was surprised to find out it was actually based on a book by Liz Tuccillo and Greg Behrendt of the same name, but since I hadn't read the book, I wasn't too bothered as I had no expectations! ...'He's Just Not Into You' is the story of several interlinking relationships which charts the complications of relationship in the digital era. Set against the backdrop of modern-day Baltimore we see a relationship on the edge due to a marriage ultimatum, an adulterous man's attempt to manage his love life with two demanding women, a needy and insecure woman's attempt to work out dating protocol and a woman's hilarious attempt to navigate the Facebook dating world. The main reason that 'He's Not That Into You' fails to inspire any romantic affection or dramatic interest is that the character's are all varying shades of unlikable; there is absolutely no-body to care about or be interested in. The film attempts to portray them as realistic and interesting but they all fail to be engaging ? offering very little in the way of laughs...

Advantages: It has a good cast...
Disadvantages: who are completely wasted on the paper-thin writing and poor direction.

...guitars to mean anything. It turns into aural wallpaper you don?t really notice. ?He?s Just Not that Into You? is another generic romantic comedy aimed at women that underestimates its audience. It does so by suggesting every woman needs a man to feel fulfilled. Of course that?s my own cynical viewpoint but I?m sure there are enough diehard romantics out there to validate the producers? beliefs. I personally found it rather bland thanks to the uninspired direction and sketchy writing. I thought the performances were underdeveloped and underpowered. There?s nothing seriously wrong with the movie, but there?s nothing seriously right with it either, so I couldn?t help but feel indifferent towards it....

I'm just not THAT into this movie

Advantages: Star studded cast
Disadvantages: Quite long and confusing

...connected in some way, either they knew each other or worked together or bumped into each other randomly in the shop. However, this does make it a little bit easier to follow. The film has quite a few references to Sex and the City as well. There are breaks in the film where unrelated people give their opinions to phrases, such as ?If he?s not calling you?, ?If he?s not marrying you? and ?If he?s not sleeping with you?. The last one is a guys point of view. The film then reverts back to scenes which relate to what has just been said. Although the title is ?He?s just not that into you?, that really only relates to Gigi and Alex. He is the one who tells her all these different guys aren?t into her. He does actually give some quite good advice from a man?s point of view and at times can sound rather like a girl. The other theme really is...

...Oh, blimey! I've read a couple of reviews of this film, and each time I have imagined the most twisted and convoluted series of character links ever in a film. Indeed, this confusion does transfer over onto the screen for a while, before the intersecting plotlines cross bit by bit and make you realise that the 'who' isn't as important as the 'what'. Essentially, this is utter romcom, dissecting relationships and reading signs, particularly those that aren't even there. It's a film that attacks the stereotypes we associate with typical relationships, people's attempts to get into them, people's attempts to get out of them, and everything in between. I'm not about to make an attempt to enlighten you to the vast cast list of recognisable names, nor give you the entire character groupings on each subplot and how they are all...

...He's just not that into you is based on the best selling book by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo. It is about a 9 twenty and thirty-something's trying to find romance and keep their romances. The central person is Gigi who is an optimistic woman on an eternal search for Mr Right. Gigi and Alex The film begins with Gigi on a date with Conor, she thinks it goes well but then never hears from him.... trying to accidently bump into him she goes to a bar that she knows he regularly visits, there she meets his friend, Alex. Alex guilds us and Gigi through the dating advice of He's just not that into you. Alex tells us that if a guy is interesting he will make sure you know, and if he isn't interested enough to let you know and call you, then he's not worth spending the time waiting around for. Why settle for someone who doesn't really know...
