...So Im in the middle of doing my Law degree full time at DeMontfort University. Well what can you expect? The Teaching style~ consists of lectures, seminars and tutorials. The lecturer normally always sits or stands at the front of the group regardless of what teaching method is being used. It is advisable for any of these types of classes to do the work ( whether set prior to the lecture or in advance of a lecture) as to help you with your revision and also to save you the embarrassment of getting things wrong infront of lots of people!!!! Lectures- the lecturer talks and you listen, preferably write notes and use a dictafone where possible- helps you when it comes to writting up your notes. You can ask questions and helps if you have done some reading in preparation for you lecture on a particular topic. Lecturer's do ask...

Advantages: Excellent performance by Gerard Butler, great cinematography.

Advantages: Excellent learning facilities
Disadvantages: Disorganised University

Since the last person wrote a review on Law at Middlesex University (2000), a lot has changed. I am in my final year, studying in Hendon & looking forward to graduation.. argh finally! The LLB Law programme at UEA

Advantages: Lovely campus, high teaching standards, good reputation
Disadvantages: Norwich is a bit far out...

This is obviously only a very short period of time so my review will probably lack some detail, but hopefully you will still find it fairly useful. The area This is a single campus University, based in Norwich, East Anglia. I moved from Reading (near London) & found the driving distance to be around 3 to 4 hours, or train from Liverpool St generally taking 2 hours, no comment on Reading to London as this varies dramatically anyway. The train journey is quite comfortable though. Norwich is a fairly small city, but not without its fair share of things to do. Advantages: Good fun for kids.
Disadvantages: A bit dated.

A Must Have For Any Law Student

Disadvantages: You can use the Internet to locate definitions, but the dictionary is more reliable

INTRODUCTION As a student studying Law at University, it certainly isn't the easiest of subjects, and can often lead to numerous sleepless nights trying to complete seminar homework, or knuckling down on a new assignment. I have endless amounts of textbooks lined up on my desk, various revision guides and numerous essay-help books, but, until now, no dictionary. Foolishly, the thought of owning a Law dictionary had never crossed my mind, and I'm sure if you too are/were a Law student reading this, you'll wonder how I ever got buy without such an invaluable aid. Admittedly, I got by fine without a Law dictionary, and did very well in my end-of-year Law examinations, but since actually owning one, I couldn't be without it. Advantages: Part time available, easy method of study, ongoing support
Disadvantages: 4 years part time as opposed to 3. Difficult subject matter

...After a long hard look for a University that would offer the good old fashioned LLB (Hons) Law degree part time, and on a distance learning place, then I must say Nottingham has rightfully emerged as the triumphant winner! Primarily, because it is the only university in the country that offers it (as far as I am aware). The course will start in September, and provided you have a full unconditional offer and the funds you will be able to get on the legal knowledge train and disembark upon a career within the legal realms. At today's costing it equates to £2620 per year including four tutorial weekends with provided accommodation in Nottingham. Advantages: would potentially be the ideal combination
Disadvantages: let down by the university

A very senior member of staff (whom shall not identify for legal reasons haha!!) even stated to my face that the 'staff have not got time to spend with students as they have their research to do' I appreciate that an academic's job comprises of teaching and research however, the attitude experienced within law is that 'the door is always open if you need help' Why can't it be consistent?? There is a distinct difference in the way the economics department is run and there is even a contradiction with the university's policy with regard to the role of a personal tutor. Information regarding myself i.e. medical certificates never gets communicated to the law department and often Economics and Law students miss out...
