Happy Hobs!!

Advantages: Works very well, fairly inexpensive, easy to use
Disadvantages: Bit runny

...A couple of summer's ago, my husband gutted our old kitchen and put me in a nice new one with all the mod cons, including my new halogen hob! He told me I needed to be careful when cleaning it and the maufacturer's instruction for cleaning recommended Hob Brite, by Homecare. I tootled off to Tesco and found it very easily, in with the rest of the household cleaning products. It cost at the time about £1.25 but it's since gone up in price a little and the last bottle I bought cost me £1.39 from Sainsbury's - the bottle contains 300ml, and to my knowledge does not come in any different sizes. The first time I used my new hob I'd cooked us all a spaghetti bolognese and there were a few splashes of sauce sprinkled over the hob. I left the hob to cool down before I attempted to clean it, as directed on the bottle's instructions...

Sparkly Hobs

Advantages: good results, good price

.... The packaging, is unmissable being luminous orange with a blue lid, not the most complimenting colour combination but it's bright and stands out on the cleaning products shelf. The logo plain white writing and a hob photo with a sparkly star on the front emphasising the clean sparkle. On the side of the bottle are 3 ridges which are little grooves to place your figners in to have a firm hold on the bottle. Inside a bottle you get 300ml of the Hob Brite it is a squeezy bottle. You shake this bottle before using then you squeeze out about a miniature circle of the white liquid. You using some kitchen roll or cloth and wipe the product over the hob. The smell for some reason reminds me of suntan lotion. It is creamy smelling, but clean eough, quite fresh. A good job for the hob

Being a very small bottle, I somehow expected the liquid to be thick in consistency, but in fact it is quite runny, similar to Cif, and it, too, is white in colour. The best little hob I have seen

Advantages: Fast, efficient and clean - a great way to cook
Disadvantages: You must use the right pans on it

...the tidiest of cooks I did spill a little flour on to the hob as I transferred the meat but, as the hob didn't get hot, the flour didn't burn at all - excellent. Once I had finished all that was necessary was a quick wipe over on the hob with a damp cloth and it was as good as new. Would I recommend it? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I certainly would. If like me you live an area where there is no gas this is an excellent way to have a responsive hob which is fast to use and simplicity to keep clean. You can use it to time your cooking if you wish, it is 90% energy efficient as compared to 40% for gas and it is safe to use as only the area where the pan sits gets warm. I love it - not only is a dream to use but I can put it wherever I want as long as I have a power connection so I can (and do) use it on different worktops in the kitchen...

Sparkly hobs as quick as a Hob Brite .

Advantages: Lasts a lond time , great results , good value .
Disadvantages: Smells a little harsh when using

HOW TO USE HOB BRITE ******************************* Make sure the hob is turned off . Apply the cleaner with paper towel or clean cloth . I usually use kitchen paper . It is better to use a small amount as you can always add more . Rub the surface lightly . Rinse the residue . Dry the hob with a clean cloth or kitchen paper . As I dry I sort of polish at the same time and I have been pleased with the results . My hob comes up a treat and looks as good as new . If you are cooking a lot for a large family you may need to use this product more often . I always try and wipe up spillages a little as they happen as it safes time long term . RECOMMENDATION...

Marco's Kitchen

Advantages: Marco, celebs getting flustered
Disadvantages: not long enough

.... Not that celebrity reality shows do anyway! But hey, that's not why I watch it! They have made little interviews in a diary style so you can hear what they have thought about so far. The most honest I have to say is Ade Edmondson. Never holding back on saying how he disliked Jody and Anthea Turner, (have to agree with that one.) The celebrities get given a little task during the day, ranging from making swans out of meringues to cuting the head off of live eels and cooking crayfish. Naomi (Ms Dynamite) seems to of had a problem with the killing of live animals and it was quite ammusing when it was revealed to her that cockles were alive before she was putting them in the frying pan. Dream Kitchen @ Trade Prices - NOT!

...didn't think the appointment with the salesman would take too long at all. How wrong could I be??? The salesman arrived slightly early, but was very pleasant. We showed him our kitchen, made some coffee and sat at the table ready to discuss our options. As I said, we knew roughly what we wanted and where we wanted the items to go in the design. The salesman disagreed with our design and wanted to do his own. I specifically said I didn't want the cooker/hob in the corner of the room as this wastes a lot of space, but he continued to draw it in the plan. He talked a lot while he was drawing up his plan, which lead to mistakes being made and things being put in the wrong place. Time was passing and my 3 children were moaning about tea, yet he continued to talk and talk and talk. To be honest, I just wanted him to give us a price...
