...What! Only 10 foods? Of all the MILLIONS/ BILLIONS of food products out there we can only pick 10? Well, I suppose you'd get bored by my 100th or so one..or tenth... In no particular order; let's begin 1. Fish -Smoked Haddock, Salmon, Cod, sea bass or tuna. Haddock is delcious in a pitta bread with scrambled egg or haselback potatoes. Salmon fillet is divine if you top it with mayo, crushed seasoned cornflakes with garlic and then drizzled with a cheese sauce. Smoked salmon slices mixed into mash with cheese spread! emm. And tuna, mix it with onion and some chutney to get fish fruity. Make your own fish pie or chop it up into an omelete. Fish is sooo nutritional, versatile and delcious. Not a fan of sardines, herring; trout and the lark, or with heads and eyes still on! Prawns - league of there own. Nice just out the pack...

High street health foods on the web

I did this on principle firstly, because I heard that their parent company has links with GM companies (I was unable to substantial this when I researched them, though, so it could be a rumour put about by independent heath food stores!), and also because I assumed they were expensive. Since moving to a town without a big independent HFS, I have to shop at H&B – and I am rather glad that I do. They are generally cheaper than other heath food stores on their own-labelled products. Greens Health & Fitness Club

Advantages: Fairly cheap membership fee, decent enough facilities

...I have been a member at Greens Health & Fitness club in Stoke for around about three years now, as it is convenient for me to use and close enough to work to use at lunchtime. I was previously a member at Total Fitness Gym but left as the membership fees were getting too high. Greens has a good gym, with decent quality cardio machines (we have treadmills, exercise bikes, cross trainers, rowing machines, step machines and what we call 'wave' machines which give a similar motion to skiing), a weight room, two rooms for organised classes and a room with spinning bikes. There is a 25 metre pool with three jacuzzi's, a sauna and steam room, as well as an infra red sauna cabin, loungers and showers around the pool area. Vacuum sealing food the easy way

...I love my gadgets and I am a complete sucker for the TV shopping channels so when I saw that JML had got their own channel I couldn't resist watching it one wet afternoon recently. They were doing a demonstration of the JML Vacuum Food Sealer and I was intrigued as I sat and watched. Basically it is a very simple machine which will either vacuum seal food into polythene bags or just seal (without vacuum). It looked pretty simple and effective and they were demonstrating a range of uses for it. Given that I cook a lot of meals for one and often 'batch cook' and weekends and make my own home made ready meals for one which I freeze down this looked like quite a useful machine. Advantages: Reasonably priced foodie magazine with lots of useful recipes
Disadvantages: Don't want to throw them away! Might put on weight if not followed wisely!

Heart healthy is low in Saturated fat with 5g or less, and low in salt with 1.5g or less but high in omega 3-fatty acids. Vegetarian recipes are suitable for vegetarian! A frost symbol means it can be frozen and should the symbol have a red line through it then it is not suitable. There is also a list at the end of each recipe with the breakdown per portion of protein, carbohydrate and fat, and the amount of kcals per portion.
