...I thought I would have a change from all the heavy stuff I have been writing about lately, and write about a little machine I bought about six months ago. The Omron MX3. It is a blood pressure monitor. All my life my blood pressure has been wildly erratic. The highest measured blood pressure I recorded was 180/100. High yes, but I had just spent 12 minutes on a treadmill having a heart test. Anyway it was back to 140/80 within 5 minutes. They told me that was great. Anyway when I go to the doctors it varies between 157/95 being the highest and 117/76 being the lowest. Generally though it is about 140/80-85 I have researched this a little and I have realised that your blood pressure can vary and change very rapidly. I have confirmed this by visits to the doctor and a medical friend of mine who uses a different machine to the one...

...When I was diagnosed with hypertension (that’s technical for high pressure), It was another yet health worry to cope with! I was placed on the tablet ‘lisinopril’ which had some really unwanted side effects (see review on it). In fact it was enough to send you BP sky high! Having a family history of hypertension related illnesses it was of some concern, though not majorly. Normal Pressure is rated at around 120/80 - mine was around 140/90 (and above): Not that high I thought, and in fact according to the leaflet in this package it is acceptable as normal according to the World Health Organisation! Greens Health & Fitness Club

Advantages: Fairly cheap membership fee, decent enough facilities
Disadvantages: A lot of niggling problems

...I have been a member at Greens Health & Fitness club in Stoke for around about three years now, as it is convenient for me to use and close enough to work to use at lunchtime. I was previously a member at Total Fitness Gym but left as the membership fees were getting too high. Greens has a good gym, with decent quality cardio machines (we have treadmills, exercise bikes, cross trainers, rowing machines, step machines and what we call 'wave' machines which give a similar motion to skiing), a weight room, two rooms for organised classes and a room with spinning bikes. There is a 25 metre pool with three jacuzzi's, a sauna and steam room, as well as an infra red sauna cabin, loungers and showers around the pool area. ...I bought my Omron Electronic Pulse Massager HV-F115 five years ago, in easier English - it's a TENS machine. I have an upper spine injury situated between my shoulder blades. I have two discs missing and 'spurs' have developed on my spine. Pain-wise - well yes it's very painful and I require daily pain killers. I can only describe the pain as having a permanent, throbbing stitch on my spine. Often this causes my right arm to weaken and puts pain into my neck. Not pleasant! The set includes a 'baby unit', 'parent unit' & movement sensor mat. Disadvantages: Can eat through batteries

...Recently the video baby monitors that I had been given (second hand) gave up the ghost so I had to purchase a new set. I decided that I didn't need a video one again or one with any other fancy gimmick on it (one that plays a melody etc), I wanted a nice basic and reasonable cheap monitor just so I could hear when she wakes up in a morning etc. After looking online at the hundreds of monitors available (most of which are very expensive) I found the Tomy Walkabout Classic Advance and after reading a couple of reviews I decided that this one should do the job just fine. ...If you are inteterested in health and fitness generally, including diet tips, then this is a great amgazine for you - provided you arent also looking for some celebriity gossip - which I am not. There are interviews in the magazine each month but these are usually with a sports star e.g. a recent edition contained an interview with an England netball player. I personally dont read these interviews in detail but I do glance over them and I think it is a great idea to feature sports stars who arent well known, earning millions of pounds a year. There are always easy to follow diet tips and information on current health products/info. This magazine also contains a workout section which provides you with new workout ideas - this is my favourite section and the reason I buy this magazine as it doesnt make out that you can be a size 8...
