...Well my dad got back from a trip to Scotland at the beginning of the week and while we were round for out regular Fish and Chip Supper on a Friday night he showed us the Video he'd shot. During htis he mentioned the Whisky Distilleries and feeling a bit peeved that at no time had I been given a present I made a comment that he hadn't brought my partner and I a bottle of Whiskey back. A very upset dad turned to me with a look of anguish and said haven't I. Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. ...This is a fantastic underrated single. Proud is an uplifting song with amazing lyrics and perfectly suited to Heather's voice. The chorus is unbelievable and it should have done much better than number sixteen. The B-sides are fantastic too - there were no mixes on the CD which I was pleased about. The first B-side 'Don't Give Up The Fight' is more mellow than 'Proud' but once again has fantastic lyrics and really sticks in your head. Then there is Heather's take on Louis Armstrong's 'Wonderful World', and it's just as good - the song suits her voice perfectly and is just a fantastic piece of writing. The CD also features the video, an average video and perhaps the only thing disappointing about the whole package. She looks great on the cover and the colour scheme used for the D and sleeve goes really well....

LOOK FORWARD TO A BRIGHTER WINTER!

Disadvantages: Not too tolerant of alkaline/lime soils

...In my view, no other group of plants can offer the all year round flowering potential of the heather. Choose carefully and you can create a floral display which will give you some interest from January through to December. Add to this the the heather's excellent ground covering and weed supressing abilities and you have a plant which must be worthy of a spot in your garden. To create the best effect heathers should be planted in groups, ideally three to five plants to each group. This gives a fairly instant effect which can easily be kept under control with a little light shearing each year. Heathers will put up with difficult conditions but thrive best when given some sun, which increases the intensity of foliage and flower colour.
