...I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in November 2008 before I flew out on holiday from Heathrow. On arriving at the hotel it was a bit chaotic as the lobby seemed to be full of people leaving for the airport but there wasn't enough porters or luggage trolleys to go around, at one point a fight nearly broke out over the last trolley! After standing and watching with ammusment for 5 minutes we reached the front of the queue for reception and were checked in quickly and efficiently by a friendly receptionist. We then made our way back across the crowded lobby and into the lift (complete with mood lighting). We had a room on the second floor with a view of the airport. At first we were a bit concerned about the airport noise but once the windows were shut you could not hear a thing. The room was very modern looking, very clean...

On The Doorstep Of Heathrow Airport

Advantages: nice rooms, convenient location, lovely pool bar
Disadvantages: Parking and food were a little on the expensive side

...I stayed at the Sheraton Skyline hotel near Heathrow airport in September 2007 before I flew out on my annual holiday. I booked this hotel because according to their website, it is literally on the doorstep of Heathrow Airport. Room Our room was located on the 10th floor but sadly the room overlooked the hotel car park but to be honest this wasn?t a problem because we weren't staying here for the view! Our room was very large, much bigger than I expected for the price I paid. The bed was extremely large, probably about 6 feet wide and very comfortable. It certainly left us both feeling like we had a decent nights sleep. The room also had two wardrobes, an office desk and chair and a lamp on either bed side table. There was also a fully stocked mini bar but to be honest the prices were so extortionate that we didn?t even bother...

Thistle London Heathrow : Best Avoided

Advantages: Close to airport and shuttle bus runs frequently
Disadvantages: Bad service, dated rooms

...I've stayed at this hotel as I attended an event held in the conference centre. Parking was difficult, mainly because this hotel offers a park and stay facility for Heathrow Airport and after driving around each area of the car park we ended up parking at the side of the exit road. It was good job that we stayed on site for the time we were there as I wouldn't have fancied my chances at parking up again if we left and came back. When we checked in we were told that a pre-authorisation charge would be put on the account until we checked out. This is fair enough, obviously they don't want people charging items to their room and not paying, but our pre-authorisation charge was £400 - nearly three times what our total bill would be. ...During my recent trip to New York our connecting flights to Manchester required us to have an overnight stay in London. Rather than travelling in to central london I decided to look for a hotel located close to the airport but also as cost effective as possible. The flights and accommodation for New York had been booked since early 2005 so the hotel I have to admit was something I had forgotton to book so when it came to September and the balance for the hotel was due, so I decided to pay the balance and realised that I needed to book the hotel for our brief overnight stay. BAAaaa... were all like sheep at Heathrow

...Isn't it so true? Everybody follows one passenger - the first off the plane - when they arrive at Heathrow. And if this person goes the wrong way, you're all stuffed! The problem is, Heathrow is huge. There are people everywhere, with confusing corridoors and passageways. That combined with the ridiculous signage, it's impossible to find your way around! Being the busiest airport in the world, you can imagine Heathrow must be huge. Well, check-in can take ages - up to two hours for longhaul and half an hour for shorthaul. Once you've cleared check-in's miserable staff, then it's off to pasport control and then departures. Here, you may want to go to one of the restaurants, or maybe you've paid to fly business class... If you're going to a lounge (Iberia, Lufthansa and Air France in terminal 2), then make yourself comfortable...

My new favourite Heathrow car park

Advantages: Great service, short transfer times
Disadvantages: Not suitable if you don't like other people to move or park your car

Well this review is a 'Koshkha went to Sweden and all she reviewed was the car park' Many regular ciao readers will know that I love to travel but I hate most of the fuss associated with going places. Packing is my number one hate but second to that is finding decent car parks that don't cost several body parts. ...After checking out of the 4 star Hilton Heathrow, prior to my trans-Atlantic crossing to, my main concern was not to blow my 'spending money' in the tax free haven that is the departure areas. In fact this had been a fear that I had pre-assessed before leaving my home town of Norwich, and I had taken relevant precautions to avoid just such a mishap occurring. After speaking to a few chums I decided that the best way to avoid the magnet like duty free stores was to book a VIP lounge. Seems ironic to save money by enjoying luxury but read on my friend?.. Marriott Heathrow. A pleasant place to stay

Advantages: Lovely big rooms and massive beds!!
Disadvantages: Restuarant food is good but a bit pricey

...This hotel is located no more than 10mins from Heathrow airport but more like 1 hour to get into central London (depending on time of day etc) The rooms are large and of a good spec. The king sized beds are great with more pillows than i have ever seen! They are finishing of the refurb of the hotel at the moment (all floors except the 5th have now been done). There is a small but well equipped gym, a 16m pool with is nice to paddle around in but not much use for doing lengths in. I also found it really hot in there so found it hard to breath on occasions. There is also a steam room and sauna there. Restuarants: 2 proper ones and the bar restuarant. The american one is ribs, steaks and burgers. Food quality is good but it is typically very expensive - £17 for a rump steak is a bit steep in my opinion - coupled with a £5 glass...

We booked through Holiday Extras for £70 which is quite a saving on the walk-in rate of £189!!
