...So, whilst I wait for the various product suggestions I?ve submitted to be posted on the site, here?s something I?ve found in the cupboard for dinner which wasn?t half bad?in fact, quite good?it?s Heinz?s Chicken Noodle Soup. It comes in the traditional red tin that all the regular Heinz soups come in, so nothing spectacular there to write home about. Instead, the proof is in the pudding?or starter-cum-main meal in this case. It?s certainly not one of the most aesthetically pleasing of soups. With the small, roughly one inch in length noodles are scattered heavily throughout the soup. Along with the tiniest pieces of chicken you ever did see it does look like a bowl of slop. ...Well, with the cold winter nights fast approaching us again (did they ever actually leave us!?) its time to stock my kitchen cupboards with warming, tasty treats, perfect for those cold, dark nights, and for me there is nothing more warming than a lovely hot bowl of Heinz Cream of Tomato Soup. ~The Soup Itself~ I have heard many people nowadays say this product isn't as good as it used to be, but as a child I was never keen on soups, so I really can't comment on if this is true or not. However, I can comment on what I think of this soup nowadays and i'm a big fan of it. Heinz Cream of Tomato soup is exactly what it says on the tin. It is a tomato flavoured soup with a subtle but tasty hint of cream added to it. The cream really adds a nice flavour to this soup but it in no way makes it taste sickly or fattening...

Fill up quick! (Heinz Ravioli (with meat))

Advantages: Can be eaten out of the tin if you are in a real hurry.
Disadvantages: Not very inspiring.

...I always keep a selection of tinned products in for times when I can't be bothered cooking fresh, which does at times become a regular occurrence. One of these times resulted in pulling out a tin of Heinz Ravioli in tomato sauce. The tin I have contains 400g and cost me 89p. The ravioli comes in a tin with a pull off lid. The label is predominately yellow and contains all the essential information regarding the product. The front of the label contains the branding and boasts that the ravioli is a "new Recipe", low sugar and low fat. The back of the label displays the ingredients list (ravioli 45%, water, durum wheat semolina, egg, beef (14%), wheat flour, vegetables oil, flavourings, salt, onion, spices), water, concentrated tomato puree (17%), sugar, modified cornflour, herb extracts, salt, vegetable oil, garlic salt, spice extracts...

Heinz Treacle sponge for me please!

Advantages: A delicious sweet pudding
Disadvantages: High in sugar

...All of the old fashioned puddings are the best ones. Spotted dick, Bread and Butter Pudding, Steamed Jam sponge and one of my all time favourites the treacle sponge pudding. Of course all of these puddings just have to be served with hot freshly made custard to be fully appreciated. I can remember when all of the sponge puddings were made from scratch, the mixture was put into a china pudding bowl which then had a piece of cloth tied around the top of the bowl to secure the pudding, then the bowl was placed into a saucepan full of hot water on top of the hob and steamed for two or three hours! So Heinz have worked wonders by canning a steamed pudding that can go from tin to pudding bowl in under four minutes. ...When it comes to buying canned soup I think it pays to spend a penny or two more and get a plateful of soup that you can enjoy. Our local Farmfoods has recently had some good offers on Heinz soups and that`s always a good time to stock up a little. The Heinz creamed soups are tasty and Baxter`s also make a soup thats flavoursome. If I have any leftover vegetables that need using up I would elect to make my own pot of soup, simple to make and full of goodness. Having an electric hand blender makes the task simple, cook your diced vegetables in some stock, maybe add a little stewing beef too if you fancy a soup that makes more of a meal.
