My 24 month old baby boy gets excited when he knows we are going to read as he loves having his books read with him, and he also enjoys looking at them by himself. Hunting for the plot of Hunted

Advantages: good ending
Disadvantages: Only read it if you've read the others

...Hunted is the fifth book in mother and daughter team P.C. and Kristin Cast's House of night saga. I bought my copy for £3.49 new from Amazon, but the jacket price is £6.99, as with most books now, if you shop around you are pretty much guaranteed to get a deal on it, and I know that it's much cheaper used. At present the first five books are available in paperback, the sixth (Tempted) was released in hardcover on October 27th 2009, and should be available in paperback 7-10-2010. A seventh book, Burned, has been announced with an expected release date of May 2010. **History and background** This is another saga of teenage/young adult vampire fiction, a genre which regularly comes back into vogue. Hunting for a bargain?

Advantages: An entertaining show
Disadvantages: None

...A cup of tea, a sandwich and a lunchtime sit down to watch an episode of Bargain Hunt. Although the programme centres around the contestants making a profit from their bargain hunting the emphasis is all on the two teams pitting their wits against one another. The programme starts with Tim Wonnacott introducing two eager teams, each team is made up of just two members and one team is given red sweatshirts and the other team blue sweatshirts. Each team is then assigned an expert in the world of antiques who will endeavor to help them find something in a local Antique Fair that they will purchase themselves and take to auction in the hope of making a profit. Advantages: Certificate PG so it's suitable for nearly everyone
Disadvantages: The cinema is expensive and this film is very average

...This film is due on general release in the UK shortly but I thought I'd write about it as I had a sneak preview. This PG film directed by Garry Marshall stars Kate Hudson as Helen Harris, a woman who "inherits" guardianship of her nieces and nephew when her sister and brother-in-law die in an accident. Joan Cusack and John Corbett co-star. The children are played rather well by Hayden Panettiere (Audrey), Spencer Breslin (Henry) and Abigail­ Breslin (Sarah). Helen's glamourous New York modelling world is turned upside down as she tries to be a parent. Her sister Jenny already has children and can't resist interfering. Gradually the two women come to an understanding, as they also come to terms with the loss of their other sister. What we're going on a bear hunt again.

Advantages: Great book to read aloud to children
Disadvantages: You may get fed up with the rhymes after a while.

...My daughter loves this book although my husband has a different view. This book is about four children, their dad and a dog who go on a adventure to hunt a bear. Its called "we're going on a bear hunt". Their adventure starts with lots of fun, a slow leisurely pace and the catchy rhyme of "we're going on bear hunt, we're going to catch a big one", which continues throughout the book. This book follows their adventure through the long grass, the river, the mud, the forest, the snowstorm, the cave, finding the bear and then back through them all to the safety of home. Disadvantages: Not as strong storywise as the previous books.
