A good makeup remover for a good price
Advantages: Low price, gets rid of makeup easily, lasts a while
Disadvantages: Stings your eyes a little bit
...AVON Conditioning eye makeup remover lotion
I have been an Avon representative for nearly a year now, and in this time I think I have nearly spent more than I've earned - it's too tempting not to buy anything myself and when I'm always trying to convince other people to buy the products I'm usually the one who gets convinced! I bought this makeup remover lotion not too long ago, probably about three months back. The main reasons I bought it was because I run out of face wipes really quickly, so I thought this would last longer and also because it was a low price at around only £1.50. I couldn't resist so ordered myself one with the next campaign.
When the bottle arrived in the box with the rest of the ordered products for the campaign it looked exactly like it does in the brochure and I wasn't surprised at all about the size...

bye bye eye make-up
Advantages: Cheap, it works
Disadvantages: Stings very occasionally
...This review is of Skin Therapy Eye Make-Up Remover.
Skin Therapy is a skin care range, including facial wipes, moisturisers, cleansers, facial washes and so on. It is exclusive to Wilkinsons, so none of the prodcuts are likely to break the bank.
I'm not a huge make-up person, I'm too pale for foundation, too lazy for tinted moisturiser, lip colour gives me too much of a Lesley Ash pout (not a good look, I can assure you), and blusher tends to make me look like I've been slapped! I do, however, love my eye make-up, not every day, but when I feel tired or run down, or if I'm going out, I 'do' my eyes. And when I do them, I really do them, with eye shadow, heavy eye-liner a la smokey eyed look, and lashings of mascara. Of course, all of this eye make-up has to then come off.
I've tried so many different eye make-up removers in my time...

Almost Foundation ... Certainly Make Up
Advantages: Blends well, isn't heavy, protects against sun related skin damage
Disadvantages: Can get water-y (separates), expensive, middling coverage
...It wouldn't be unfair to say that I'm a bit of a guy in disguise - I live in jeans, read (and watch) science fiction, have never understood the cult of celebrity, don't watch reality TV, and, more to the point, rarely wear make up.
Oh, I occasionally use cover up (as I'm a terrible picker, and can never leave a spot alone), but don't often go the full foundation-to-mascara route. However, I have recently been attending job interviews, and so have piled the slap on (ok, that's a slight exaggeration) in my quest to impress. Therefore, the first thing I apply is foundation.
Because I'm not much of a make-up wearer, I don't want a heavy foundation - I don't want to look like a clown in the circus. Last time I went to buy make-up, I therefore went to the Clinque counter and asked for advice (I only ever buy make up when there are freebies...

Superbalanced make up
Advantages: Does not interfere with natural moisture balance, good coverage, glowing skin
Disadvantages: Hard to match colour, may require setting with powder
.... Whilst wearing this I have been told that my complexion looks even and clear which I don't think I have ever been told before!
When it comes time to remove the foundation, it comes off easily with most types of cleaners and/or make up removers. I have had no kind of reaction which this product- I have sensitive skin and it seems fine to me which no problems.
Although it does seem expensive this bottle has lasted me a long time and I am very happy with it. As I mentioned before, it is quite hard to match the colour (or for me it was anyway!) so I would recommend trying it in store and then wearing it home and checking in a range of different lights....

Make me Up!
Advantages: Gentle on eyes, easy to use and removes all make-up.
Disadvantages: Too many unnatural ingredients.
...The Simple Range is diverse and one of the most popular brands on the market. With it's 'simplistic' style and content together with a kind nature and honest touch. I use Simple products in my daily skincare routine, as I do not like using over-fussy products on my skin. I have normal skin which is prone to spots in certain areas, I find that the Simple product range calms my skin, and in particular the Eye make-up Remover is gentle on the eyes and removes what I want it to.
Price: For a 125ml bottle I bought this one at my local Boots store for £2.89. You can sometimes get an item from this range free, when Boots are having a 2 for the price of 3 offer. I also get Boots points on this one which is good. This bottle will last me for a good 3 months or so and I only tend to use a small amount on a cotton wool pad for each eye...

Clarins Instant Eye Make-Up Remover
Advantages: No oiliness, kind on eyes, attractive packaging
Disadvantages: A little too mild, didn't remove all my eye make up
...I bought this product a little while ago. I wanted something quick and easy that would effectively remove my eye make up but that was also quite gentle, since some eye make removers make your eyes sting! I have used Clarins products in the past and have found them to be effective, so I thought that I would give this 'Instant Eye Make-Up Remover' a try.
The bottle is a simple and attractive design. It is an oval shaped, plastic bottle with a screw top lid. The lid is white with a silver coloured rim, which adds a nice bit of bling! The plastic is a frosted colour, and you can easily see though to the liquid inside.
The make up remover has two layers in it, it looks really cool in the bottle! There is a blue layer on the bottom and a clear layer on top, and you have to shake the bottle before you use it so that these two layers mix...

Nivea Extra Gentle Eye Make-up Remover - Extra Good!
Advantages: works brilliantly
Disadvantages: none
...Nivea Visage Extra Gentle Eye Make -up Remover....
I wear soft contact lenses everyday and after using a few make up removers that left my eyes feeling irradiated and sore I decided on buying an extra gentle make-up remover and perusing the shelves in Boots I came across this one made by Nivea Visage.
It was a reasonable price at £3.39 pence for a good 125ml sized bottle. The design of the bottle is fairly average and just buy looking you can tell it is not an expensive product. It is quite a chunky design which means it stands up well on my dressing table and the lid which is a flip top pops open easily and clicks to seal very well.
The liquid inside the bottle is clear although the bottle itself is tinted blue giving the impression that the liquid inside is this blue colour. The Extra Gentle Eye Make-up Remover is really...

Eye makeup remover that works
Advantages: Removes makeup well, doesnt irritate, moisturises eyes
Disadvantages: Dodgy pump, slightly greasy
...I have always washed my mascara off while washing my face which usually results in all the makeup running into my eyes and then bloodshot eyes! So I decided it was about time I got some proper eye makeup remover. I usually like the No7 skincare stuff so decided to try this one. It cost £7.00 for the 100ml bottle which does sound expensive but it is quite a big bottle and only a bit is required each day.
What it promises
No7 say: it uses double action to condition while you cleanse and is suitable for sensitive eyes and will even remove waterproof mascara.
Packaging
I really like the packaging for this, it comes in a nicely shaped bottle with a big pearly looking white lid. The bottle is clear so you can see the blue liquid inside. It has a big gold ?No7? at the top with ?Cleanse & Care Eye makeup remover...

Clinique superfit makeup
Advantages: natural finish, long lasting, great for asian skin
Disadvantages: cost
...In the past whenever I have approached one of the ladies behind a makeup counter for help on finding a foundation to suit my skin, I have always walked away not pleased.
These ladies have come across as being very helpful & they do try their best but they have always tried colours on my skin that were a few shades too dark unfortunately. This might have been down to the fact that I have an uneven skin tone & in order for them to try to even out my skin colour, they always happened to pick out the darkest colour on my face and go with that particular shade.
On the odd occasion when I have been shown a shade that I didn't particularly mind, I felt like my face had far too many layers on it, the foundation was too thick for my liking, I looked overdone, and it neither felt nor looked natural.
One day as a final try before I gave up...

Eye Make Up Remover
Advantages: Olay Cream, it works
Disadvantages: None
...I have always been a big fan of the Olay products as I've used it now for years. My mum used it before me so I think I was just following in her footsteps like most young girls do.
Olay was first produced in South Africa. It has been a Procter and Gamble product since 1985 and became one of their Billion dollar brands in 2003. Apparently the name Oil of Olay was chosen by the producer (a chemist called Graham Wulff) because it was a spin off of the word Lanolin which was the key ingredient.
Lanolin is used in the production of many cosmetics and lotions etc perhaps it is easily absorbed by the skin. It actually comes from wool bearing animals such as sheep and is secreted from their glands. (Eww, when you actually think or read what goes into make ups and lotions etc you would never want to use them!!)
Olay has come a long way...
