experiencing helios to Cyprus

Advantages: enjoyable flight
Disadvantages: nothing

...I have recently come back from a fantastic two weeks in Cyprus...as we all know the worst part about holidays is the travelling..I booked through my local travel agent expecting to travel with the usual airlines...BA,Air 2000 etc..But to my surprise the travel agent found a fair price travelling from Luton to Larnaca with Helios Airways...I was very sceptical and wary of this airline as i have never heard of them but i thought i would try them. Travel day came...As i boarded the aircraft i was greeted by the steward who was very cheerful and sat in my allocated seat.I noticed that the aircraft was really clean and well presented and surprisingly comfortable.There was an inflight movie,the food was good and the staff very friendly and spoke good English..and there were no delays!...According to the in flight magazine Helios is a fairly...

The best Binoculars?

Advantages: Awesome build quality, easy to handhold,very high overall sharpness of image,neutral colour balance of image
Disadvantages: Close focus disappointing, some colour fringing in extreme contrast situations

...Having owned a pair of Leitz 10 x 40 BA/N Binoculars and sold them I had always wanted to own a pair of the newer style Trinovids. The catalogue issued by Leica waxed lyrical about the numerous improvements which had been made over the previous Leitz models. Obviously the first thing noticed was the improved shape and ergonomics,easy to handhold and focus.Now I'm comparing two different types of binocular as I'd previous owned a pair of 10x40 as opposed to the 8x50's. The main reason for a change was the ability to hold the 8x more steady than the 10x-but that is really the only comparison I have. Now the business side of things-the optical performance. Fun at thirty thousand feet.

Advantages: Great start to a holiday
Disadvantages: Not going on holiday this year

...I'm not going away this year, this makes me very very sad (aahhhhh) So, in order to keep my spirits up I have to think of holidays past, happier, sunnier days, and becuase I'm a bit of a saddo, I think 'Aahh, I can write an op on that, so here goes.... In July of 2001 me and the other half set off from the flat with every penny we had for two weeks in Cyprus, travelling with Helios Airways. Obviously the first day of your holiday can set the tone of the experience. Therefore, if the flight is bad the holiday is tainted (don't even ask about Majorca!!) We arrived at Birmingham airport one hour before the flight, were checked in quickly by a friendly Australian lady and just had time for a cup of tea and a sandwich before the flight was called. Old planes.

Advantages: Cheap flights

...I recently flew to Paphos in Cyprus with Helios Airlines. I have never travelled on such an old aircraft. The first sign that things weren't what they should was when we were told, after a four hour delay, that the plane was late coming because it had to stop to refuel. (This was only from Cyprus, it hadn't flown long haul from Australia or anything like that.) Apparently there were strong head winds. As we boarded I noticed that the galley was nothing more than a not very brightly lit cupboard. It didn't look too clean either. We found our seats and had to brush sweet papers off them before sitting down. The whole cabin was in a kind of half light. The staff were pleasant and friendly, though. The plane was so old that the seats were rock hard and didn't recline at all. There was no insulation in the cabin. I sat near the window...

Sit back and enjoy THE WHITE KNUCKLE RIDE

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Small planes, bad food, no in flight entertainment.

...as the airline does not allow children of two and above to do so. They have to have their own seat. So we then had to go to the Olympic desk and find out if we could book her a seat on the same flight to come home. The lady there although very helpful couldn't tell us as she didn't have access to that information. We were told that the rep in Cyprus would be able to arrange everything and not to worry. Helios were just being petty. We then went back to the check in desk. Some of our cases were slightly heavy and it cost £80 for that. Finally we decided that we would go and chance that we would get it sorted out at the other end. This made me very down as I was worrying about what sort of problems we would encounter. LEICA 8x32 BN BINOCULARS - SEEING IS BELIEVING

Advantages: Superb optical quality,light,well built.
Disadvantages: Price may put people off.

...I just had to write a review about these outstanding binoculars. Actually it was my friend who inspired me as he had borrowed mine for the day and I was using his old pair. As we walked around our favourite local 'birding' area after five minutes of using them he said,"??.", well actually I cannot write what he said as I would not wish to offend. Needless to say his exclamation was one that I took as approval of the binoculars. These binoculars are not cheap, as they will set you back in the region of £600 unless you can pick up a second hand pair. They are well worth the money if you will get the use out of them. A new pair will come with a 30-year guarantee that I thought was pretty confidence building. While we are on the subject of buying can I recommend visiting some local nature reserves as retailers often hold open days...

Great binoculars, great price

...I've had these binoculars for 2 years now, and they've been extremely useful. They were bought for me as a Christmas present, so I don't know exactly how much was paid for them, although a quick browse on the web shows a price around £40. At this price, I reckon these are an absolute steal. By coincidence, at the same time as I was receiving these, I was giving the same person a pair of binoculars in return, the only difference being that they were getting a pair of Leica Trinovid 10X25, which cost over 5 times as much (USD$384 to be precise). I've therefore had a good opportunity to compare the 2, and I think I wasted my money. There's no doubt that the optical quality of the Leica binoculars is slightly better, especially in very poor light, but if you just want a really good product for birdwatching, sports spectating, general...
