Advantages: The best thing for very dry skin I have found, natural product, wonderful smell
Disadvantages: No mind-altering reaction!

...Hemp is something of a maligned plant, you know. The very mention of the word brings to mind images of people getting stoned on cannabis, of hippies and drug use. But seriously, hemp is actually a mere cousin of the psychedelic drug, and the levels of THC (the psychoactive bit) are so low in industrial grade hemp as to be almost non-existent. Honestly! I mean, would I really be reviewing mind altering hand cream on a family site such as this? ;-) The hand cream I am on about comes from the Body Shop – you remember the place, surely? It was where we all bought our natural product smellies before Lush and original Source came along. The Body Shop has been around for some 26 years now (making it older than me!), and still upholds its policies of never testing anything on animals, of supporting community trade with the Third World... HEMP Hemp is one of the most persecuted plants in history, it has over 25,000 uses, including being used in the production of ship's ropes, bank notes and clothing. The benefits of it’s fantastically high levels of essential oils, perfect for really dry skin, have been recognised for centuries. Yes, Hemp is part of the cannibas family, but industrial grade hemp (used in Body Shop Products) has such low levels of THC (the psychoactive bit) that you have to wonder what the fuss is about. Don’t go out and buy because you think you can get high! (I have seen youngsters come in and do this!) It’s all non-intoxicating and safe to use, so you won’t be seeing stars and fairies! But what makes it different from other hand creams? Well, the hand protector contains hemp seed oil, the best natural ingredient that is rich in essential fatty acids. Hemp is so good that it can enter the dry skin cell layers and replace lost moisture, while other hand creams only create synthetic later, protecting the skin for a very small amount of time. ...I can’t seem to walk past a Body Shop store these days, I just have to go in and investigate whatever new products they have added and it was on one of these jaunts I purchased a few things from one of their new ranges, but I happened to be short of £2.50 to get the next stamp on my loyalty card, so I picked up a bar of hemp soap, priced at £3, it won’t go wrong I thought, another thing for me to try out then :o) The soap itself is a light olive colour (almost translucent) and you can see the hemp seeds scattered throughout. It shape is nothing new in the soap world, good old regular square bar, kind of reminds me of the old bar of carbolic soap they used to palm us off with in school, remember? ...Out of all the body butters I’ve ever used, (and that was quite a few) this one works the best. If you have dry skin or just need good body butter, then go no further! The body shop, famous for it’s no animal testing policy so that animals aren’t unnecessarily dieing, environmental policy so that you can recycle some of they’re packaging again, community trade so that farmers in other countries get the right price for what they’re growing, human rights so that they can raise money for the human rights charity, and most of all self esteem, their products will make you feel happier, and help you and feel good about yourself! Advantages: A really effective cream for dry hands.
Disadvantages: Takes time to be absorbed

...Hemp? In the Body Shop? I had always looked with some suspicion on their shelves of hemp-based products. I don't know why, I kind of felt a bit uneasy about them. As though people might look at me, looking at the shelves, and think "Hmmm. we know what she gets up to." However, my opinions have been totally changed since I was out with a friend and she gave me a dab of her Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector. She told me she had found it excellent for her hands which get chapped and flaky in cold weather. She also said people with skin conditions like excema find it very effective. When she squeezed some into my palm the first thing I noticed was the greyish colour. It didn't look like any conventional handcream. More like something you'd use to clean your grouting. Next I noticed the smell. It's slightly reminiscent...
