...I thought I should give an update on herbal remedies. Let me say, first and foremost, that I am a great believer in natural remedies. However, as I was reading the Daily Mail yesterday evening (Tuesday 6 January 2004) I came across an article (under the Good Health section) about a lady who has had severe health problems due to a certain herb from a Chinese high shop. Now, before you all go up in arms, I am sure that, as in most cases in life, the majority of these shops are genuine, but obviously the odd one does escape the net. Herbal Cold and Flu Remedies.

Advantages: Chance to avoid colds and Flu and the misery they cause.
Disadvantages: I suppose it could be more time consuming than over the counter ready remedies.

...but until there is a good and well proven herbal alternative which satisfies me I have not option but to have it as back up. I am hoping that during this coming year I will find my alternative to the flu jab and when I do I will let you know. The majority of the remedies are Herbal as I personaly prefer these to over the counter remedies as I know what is in them and also they are natural and better made use of by your body. It is also a more Holistic approach, treating the whole body rather than just the bits that are making you feel bad, it can also include the environment that you live in. Advantages: Very funny, enjoyable melodrama

...discovered Sainsbury's Sleep Aid Herbal Remedy and having taken them for a week I feel like a new woman! They come in packs of 60 tablets and as the prescribed dosage is two tablets a night, that is enough for a month of good sleeps. Also, as it only costs £2.99 for this pack, it compares very favourably with anything you might get on prescription from your GP. Mind you, it's only ever good value for money if something works - and these do! The tablets come in five of those blister sheets where you pop out each one individually. ...I was given a 40g jar of this product as part of a freebie gift pack from my optician; I hadn't previously tried any of the Neal's Yard Remedies range and I was delighted to be able to try it out. The body butter comes in a glass jar, simply labelled with the product name, the claims as to what it will do and the ingredients. It is an organic product and has the endorsement of the Soil Association. It is also made in England. The body butter itself is very thick - it reminds me of the beeswax furniture polish that I use from time to time - and seems to "melt" slightly on contact with my fingers. It appears almost granular in the jar but smoothes on to the skin with no grainy residue at all. It is easily absorbed into the skin and leaves a slight sheen on the surface of the skin. When ever I go into the city I enoy walking past the LUSH store, you can smell it a mile away, the products, whilst expensive are gorgeous, the most reccent product I have tried is the Herbalism Cleaner. Priced at £4.95 for 100g this is like many LUSH products quite expensive, however it lasts quite a long time as you only need a very small piece each time.
