Reviews of heroes of might and magic
Quest for the true king
Review of Heroes of Might and Magic II (PC) by
Tanelorn
Advantages: Improvement on a fresh and original idea, Longevity of play
Disadvantages: Time consuming, addictive
...After 4 or 5 games, the might and magic RPG series seemed to be grinding to a standstill, even though it had achieved cult status, and New World Computing (3DO) had to find a way to rejuvenate its flagship title.
Enter Heroes of might and magic, a turn based strategy game with new elements not found in their previous party based RPGs ..... and this served its purpose of grabbing a new following for their titles.
Fast forward a year or so, and we find ourselves engrossed in a second installment, Heroes of might and magic 2: The succession wars. The story of the battle between the kindly Roland and his evil brother Archibald for the throne of Erathia (at least thats what the campaign game followed). As in the first game, heroes 2 gave us the opportunity to build up castles (in pre-selected locations), recruit heroes and outfit them...

YES!
Review of Heroes of Might and Magic III (PC) by
Grix_Thraves
Advantages: Great fun, even better with mates.
Disadvantages: Not for everyone.
...Heroes III takes a deep and hearty quaff from the fantasy tankard, then washes it down with a potent strategy chaser. Fans of the precursors will be instantly familiar with the style of the game, which is fundamentally turn-based, and focuses heavily upon the generation of increasingly tougher and more powerful heroes. There’s an underlying theme to the game that affects every quest you embark upon, although countless sub-quests exist within the missions, to be discovered and completed at your leisure.
All well and good, then. With a solid core of role-play at its heart, Heroes III will provide you with countless hours of hack-and-slash adventuring, and features a pretty comprehensive system of character progression. There’s a plentiful assortment of stat-boosting socks and magic-enhancing trousers to be unearthed along the way...

Heroic game!
Review of Heroes of Might and Magic III (PC) by
metalyed
Advantages: multiplayer mode and map/campagn design.
Disadvantages: online play can be difficult
...Heroes of Might and Magic III is my favourite out of ll the Heroes games..
It's a turn based strategy game where you play the part as the Hero, there are several castles to choose from each with there own advantages and disadvantages, it is there where you can train/buy your army with 6 different level troops, which can also be upgraded, you use your heroes to collect artifact flag mines, collect resources and of course lead your troops into battle, as you explore the mp you will only be moving your hero and when you come to batlle it will open up a battle field where each side takes it in turns to defend/attack or use magic which can be advanced with artifacts/castle upgrades.
I found alot of the troops have a similar connection with Lord of the Rings.
I personally have the complete version (built in expansion packs) which I would...

Heroes of Might and Magic II
Review of Heroes 2 (PC) by
Curtis123456
Advantages: Classic, Addictive gameplay
Disadvantages: Not the best graphics
...In my eyes, this is one of the best games ever released, but it’s a shame that the 3DO Company is now out of business and no longer makes the Heroes series.
To put it simple I strongly recommend this game as you wont be disappointed when you buy it due to it being only a few pounds in the "Sold Out" section.
You choose between several Heroes to use and each hero has a different castle which produces different creatures. The game revolves around mines which you must take over to gain resources.
It’s really like a simple board game. You have a certain number of moves each day and once they are used, you must click a button to go to the net day. Every week your castle receives new creatures.
Once you have grasped the basic controls, you can enjoy killing creatures to gain Experience. You may have more than one hero as well as the one...

Mightily Magical!
Review of Heroes of Might and Magic IV by
baalzamon
Advantages: Nigh on endless hours of gameplay, some really good advances on earlier versions
Disadvantages: Changes to gameplay aren't to everyone's tastes
...Several years ago I was introduced by a friend to a PC game called Heroes of Might and Magic 2 and I was instantly hooked. A few years on and the series is still going strong and getting better with each new version, and I should know - I own them all!
WHAT IS IT?
Heroes of Might and Magic (HOMM) is a spin off series from the popular and even more extensive Might and Magic series, of which the current release is M&M 10! HOMM is a strategy/RPG game in which the player must raise an army of various fantastical creatures, generalled by powerful heroes, with which to do battle with enemy heroes and armies.
GAMEPLAY
You can play any of a number of one off scenarios, of which there is a fairly extensive list, or play the campaign games. In my opinion, the campaign games are the real selling point, since they allow a lot more room...

A true Hero of Might and PC Games
Review of Heroes of Might and Magic III (PC) by
pumfster
Advantages: Addictive gameplay, Multiplayer mode
Disadvantages: Repetitive after a while
...Heroes of Might and Magic 3 is not surprisingly, the third installment of this series, and is by far the best. Set in the mystical land of Eratia, your job is to defeat all of the enemies, and procede from scenario to scenario.
The system requirements of this game are a 200MHz processor, but I would recommend a bit higher than that. 32MB RAM, and 300MB Hard drive space. No 3D graphics card is needed as this is a few years old now, and I think a forth installment has been released which I haven't had the pleasure of playing yet.
The game itself is absolutely superbly designed. The singleplayer mode takes the form of various campaigns, each one harder than the previous, and you must complete each one before moving onto the next one. In multiplayer mode you can either play over a network, or for a lot of fun, play turn based on the same...

Last Action Hero - Hope so
Review of Last Action Hero (Wide Screen) by
TheNeil
Advantages: The cast aren't too bad
Disadvantages: Story
...Even from the outset the premise for this film is bad - wee kiddie wink gets to have his big screen hero come to life after getting to see the latest movie before anyone else does (when his cinema owning friend lets him in late at night). This idea of magic bringing things to life belongs squarely in Disney kids film territory and to see it used as the underlying idea for an action movie just stinks.
The cast are saddled with a terrible script and even though there are some big names and more cameos than an art gallery hosting a cameo exhibition (that's awful Neil and you know it). Charles Dance tries to be menacing but is doing little more than revisiting the character he created in The Golden Child (another disasterous mix of 'family' entertainment and action).
It's obvious that Arnie thought this was a wise career move and might...

Heroes III - My Hero of the Nineties
Review of Heroes of Might & Magic III (PC) by
starwriter64
Advantages: Relatively Cheap Price, Low System Requirements
Disadvantages: Poor, Dated Graphics
...When I had only first got into the world of PC gaming, this is what I whiled away most of my free time on. The gameplay was wonderful - everything I needed from a game. It has elements from today's RTSs(Real Time Strategy Games), and combines them with a mystical/adventure story and setting.
The game centres around you building an army and controlling and expanding your cities and empire. The armies are split up into groups which are controlled by Heroes - these can be hired from the tavern of any city/town under your control, as well as tavern-style buildings in the environment. You can move your hero/es around by using the keyboard or the mouse. Each turn gives you a certain amount of movement distance (This changes depending on the type of environment that you are travelling across).
The games many warrior types vary for what race...

We don't need another hero... or do we?
Review of Heroes of Might & Magic 3 (DC) by
CaptainDisaster
Advantages: Excellent interface, well-balanced gameplay, good aesthetics
Disadvantages: Perhaps lacking in depth, a little repetitive
...Heroes of Might and Magic III is a turn-based strategy war game set in the land of Erathia, one of the stable locations of the Might and Magic series. This once peaceful land has recently been ravaged by attacks from other empires and all sorts of undead types, so as a general of Queen Catherine, you have to find out why - and, of course, stop the multiple invasions and bring peace and unity back to the land.
To do this you utilise the skills of several heroes - you can recruit them at the town taverns. Once you have a hero you can start to build a little army around them, perhaps several raiding parties controlled by different heroes or two large armies, one to go out a-conquering and one defending your city. When you meet with opposing armies you will be taken to the battle screen, where you must control your forces to win the battle...
