The University of Hertfordshire
Advantages: Good place to study, neat and new
Disadvantages: hatfield town centre, grrrrr
...The University of Hertfordshire has developed a wide range of full-time, part-time or post experience studies in collaboration with industrial, commercial and public sector employers, the graduate school provides a focus for postgraduate study reflecting the Universities commitment to this expanding area of its work.
The University is made up of a number of different campuses each with its own character and facilities,
At Hatfield the campus is the base for the Faculty of Arts and design, Engineering and Informational Sciences, Health and Human Sciences, Interdisciplinary Studies and of Natural Sciences.
Also housed at the Hatfield campus is the Business school's department of Social Sciences.
The Student Union is also well represented with the Union shop, a cosy bar entitled the 'Font Bar' and the elehouse which is packed...

The University of Hertfordshire
Advantages: modern learning resource centre
Disadvantages: some departments not very good due to lack of research
...The university of hertfordshire is one of the "new" universities in UK. But believe me it proves that new can be gold as well. It has an excellent learning resource centre, one of the best in the whole of UK. It has 4 research rating in departments like computer science and astronomy. The university is particularly good in fields of science, engineering and computers. The other aspect which makes this university stand out is the fee, it has one of the lowest fees compared to other UK universities. I am a research student at the university doing my M.Sc. in astrnomy by research. There is excellent research work going on in astronomy at the university.
Hertfordshire is also a nice little place to live in. The university is spread over four different campuses with the main campus based in Hatfield. Hatfield is a little town with a mix...

this uni is cool :)
Advantages: everythings fab!
Disadvantages: HATFIELD
...As a fresher starting at this university in September this year I can say that the University is a great place to study. The whole experience that University life has offered so far has been brilliant and the University of Hertfordshire is fully equipped to offer all students a fab experience. The main draw to the University (academically) is the fact that courses can be mixed and matched; students originally planning to study history can find themselves studying as different language or accountancy! This diversity is encouraged in the University allowing students to choose options for themselves which they wouldn't have thought possible. These opportunities are given to all students.
I am currently studying Spanish, Journalism, History and Philosophy! The courses are fun and very interactive. Even lectures which are traditionally...

A Universal experience
Advantages: Great rides, lots of fun
Disadvantages: Prices
...Yet another stop on my tour of Florida's theme parks with three of my friends was Universal Studios. Universal is linked to Islands of Adventure and we did both parks in one day due to limited time, although I'll review them separately.
LOCATION:
Universal Studios is in Orlando, Florida. As with most Orlando attractions it is fairly well signposted. You just need to get onto the I4, the main road through Orlando, and it is signposted off this. There is a ridiculous amount of parking available. Make sure you remember which character and which number you are parked in otherwise you'll be searching for that rental car for hours! Each section is named after a Universal character such as Spiderman, the Cat in the Hat and ET.
PRICES:
This is a theme park in Orlando so don't be expecting a cheap day out! You can buy lots...

UH and Computer Science BSc
Advantages: Great facilities, good ratings, enthusiastic lecturers
Disadvantages: Some would say location
...First off, UH is regarded by many people as a 'Jack of all, master of none' type of university. The fact of the matter is UH has very sensibly decided to drop the subjects which are its worst to concentrate time, money and resources on its better ones. As such it is rapidly improving in both teaching and research ratings and is highly regarded for its Law, Engineering (including IT) and History courses.
The facilities are excellent for my course (CompSci) and the main campus has the 'Learning Resource Centre' - i.e. a library. Its the biggest of its kind in the country - approximatly the size of a football pitch, repeated on 4 floors. There are hundreds of computers and a large selection of books and assorted media equipment. The attitude of the lecturers is great (albeit a little ecentric!) and there is a general feeling...

University?
Advantages: location
Disadvantages: quality of teaching, University ranking, staff, culture
...I would not recommended this Uni, and would definitely think twice before spending or going into dept to get a degree from Westminster University. Getting the right degree from a good University these days is very important and Westminster University cannot provide it (again based on my experience).
Below some general thoughts after attending business related degree from that University.
I have graduated with business degree. Very low level of teaching. I have started similar degree outside the UK, where level of teaching in secondary school could be more intellectually challenging than attending majority of core modules throughout this degree.
On top of that the attitude of tutors towards teaching, students is bad. Many of them (not all of them) are unenthusiastic, and with no experience (or qualities) of teaching in some...

Great Universal Is Littlewoods!!!!!
Advantages: price changes
Disadvantages: same clothes
...Despite my last order through the catalogues being a while back due to the appalling service provided by La Redoute I do still browse through them when the big heavy books lands on the doorstep. Last week that book was the Great Universal Spring Summer 08 edition allowing you until the 17th August 2008 to make your purchase. "Spread the cost with affordable payment options," screams the green circle of text on the lower left hand side of the page.
Flicking through I am amazed at how expensive catalogue clothes have actually got compared to the same items in the high-street. Never the less I systematically fold over the corners of any page which shows an item I wish to purchase, but my bank balance refuses to allow, something I do with every catalogue, just in case someone else happens to flick through it and wish to buy me something...

Astronomy at the University of Hertfordshire
Advantages: The best course in the country
Disadvantages: You won't want to leave!
...The University of Hertfordshire is an excellent place to study. Take it from me, I graduated in 2000 which isn't bad considering I originally didn't want to go there (Another story for another time)! I chose to study Astronomy and I was not disappointed. The course is well devised and is constantly being updated as new discoveries are made.
The first year of the course introduces the basic aspects of astronomy as well as highlighting the physics behind everything. The course assumes no previous knowledge of Astronomy, although this does not affect the standard of teaching.
The second year allows you to develop a deeper knowledge of the "why" behind things. It prepares you well for both the final year and for the sandwich year, depending on your choices.
The third year can be spent in research if you want to. Bearing in...

Worcester University
Advantages: Accomodation, Student Union, Sports, Clubs, Library, IT, History
Disadvantages: Expense
...I've been here getting on for around a week now and I must say that I have had an excellent time so far. Before accepting the offer to go Worcester I travelled to it to investigate it and to see if it was for me. After travelling around some of the other universitys that I got into I came to the conclusion that this one was more for me conpared to any of the others.
Size
*********
I've found that its small which makes it quaint in my eyes and from my opinion however I find a city that is huge can be a little too big and can appear scary and overwhelming at times. Worcesters size is perfect offering up Night Clubs, Food, Shops and culture.
The University was originally opened as an emergency teaching college until only recently in the last few years it has been granted the ability to become a university. This means it has being...

A decent university.
Advantages: Nice location, close to town, has almost everything, campus uni, good place in the rankings.Has improved rankings and quality/reputation in a lot of subjects,-esp. sciences.
Disadvantages: Still hasn't got rid of the 'polytechnic' image, guilford locals being a bit 'snobby'
...I didn't particularly enjoy my time there but looking objectively, I can honestly say that it is a decent university.
COURSES:
Everything is very organised, most of the degree courses are modular and it will be quite easy to follow the syllabus and get yourself ahead and organised if that is how you like to work. I studied Chemistry and over the last few years the facilities and the quality of the course had improved dramatically, it used to be one of the less well off departments, but now it is one of the best, although obviusly, still lagging behind Oxbridge and that of other traditional redbricks.
The strongest departments at the uni are probably Music, Psychology, Biosciences, Engineering and Business Studies. Law is not far behind either.
Exams usually take place before christmas (unlike other uni which have them after...
