The HP 300's bigger, stronger brother

Those of you who remember my stunning, wrongly uncrowned review of the HP300 will remember how it ran out after just 140 pages. Well, this time I splashed out on the upgrade. Basically, these cost £30 each, although I picked them up on ebay for around £19 brand new and sealed. They are print cartridges that do a lot more than the HP300. The black and white cartridge will give 600 pages of print (4 times what I got out of its baby brother at just twice the price). The colour one gives 440 pages. HP C4480 Printer - Great all-rounder

Advantages: High text and image print quality; prints, scans and copies; good value for money
Disadvantages: Not got wireless; software is a bit complicated

...; it is rather complicated, but is ok once you've figured it out and got the hang of it. Changing the cartridges is really simple - this printer takes HP 350 black ink cartridges, and HP 351 tri-colour ink cartridges. These are also available in 'XL' sizes, which provide a lot more ink for your money - really good value. Special HP 348 photo cartridges are also available, for those wanting to print high-quality images. The front flap folds in completely flush with the rest of the printer, which is great for saving space when it's out of use. Whilst the printer offers fantastic value for money and all the features you could possibly want, the software is probably the main thing that lets it down. The software is slightly fiddly to use and not overly logical, however you soon get used to it, and personally I do not often need to use it...

...A well designed, high quality affordable laptop, the HP pavilion dv5 doesn't fail to please in looks, performance or price. In terms of look and design, flashy is a good word for it. It has a glossy black case which shines in the light, then you open it. The keyboard-surround is split horizontally: the bottom half is very light silver with a white check pattern, and the upper half perforated silver plastic. Around the edge of the laptop, there is a chrome-effect strip which sparkles and shimmers. Even the mouse pad has a finish that is so reflective you can see your face in it. This is the 'bling-bling' of the laptop world. It also feels pretty solid, I don't think you would be able to break it easily and I have faith in it's durability and robustness. It is also quite light, weighing 2.65kg, not bad for a laptop it's size. Ok...

HP for me

Advantages: Cheap reliable and good print outs

...Currently on offer for £26.87 in ASDA is this rather neat looking all in one printer. It is from HP so you know you are getting a quality product. It is perhaps a little bulkier than recent printers I have purchased, but with it having a Photo Copier and a Scanner I guess I can easily forgive it for this little hic cup. The unit as I mentioned is largish being that it is 6.8 inches high and 16.76 inches wide with a depth of 10.22 inches, but in this matt black box is a host of features for a measly £26 quid. My main reason fro changing printer was that this baby was £1.50cheaper than buying new cartridges for my ex Lexmark printer. My essential travelling companion -my hp pavilion 2000x laptop

Advantages: Small and powerful , tablet form and touch screen, speedy, two batteries
