Advantages: None!!! Disadvantages: They're a complete con and absolutely useless!!! Don't use them!!!
...This is the worst company I have ever dealt with and I'm almost certain that any good review you have read on this site has been written by someone within the HFC company to try and lie convincing people that they have good customer service where in fact they are complete SH*T!!! I bought a TV through known high street shop and I was told I get 6 months interest free where I don't have to pay anything until after the 6 months which is when they will pile on the interest.
So I've been trying to contact HFC to see how I can pay it off and when the soonest is so I won't get charged interest, but when I call the number and it asks me to hold to be put through to customer services, the call cuts off to avoid me speaking to anyone.....EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!! It's a cross between that and being told I'm getting put through to customer services...

Review of HFC Bank plc
Advantages: Very friendly staff, who knew what they were talking about, no pressure. Disadvantages: There is only one branch near to where I live!
...12 months ago I bought a lap top computer from a major retailer financed by HFC. My payments had gone out of my bank account each month until this month, the evening before the payment was due I realised I was £1 short for the direct debit and not wanting to be charged a £30 fee by my bank I cancellled the direct debit.
I called into the local branch of HFC the monday following and explained the reason for my cancelled direct debit and saying I wanted to pay the missed payment and set up a new mandate. The young woman I spoke to asked if I was interested in reducing the intrest rate on this load as I was on the high rate offered by the retail finance.
An appointment was made for the next morning. When I arrived I was made very welcome given a coffee ect.
After discussing my needs they offered me a loan to clear not only my lap top but...

Review of HFC Bank plc
Advantages: Great friendly staff. Disadvantages: Could easily get in to debt with them.
...I recently bought my laptop from PC World, at the time I couldn't afford to buy it out right so they set up for me to pay for it on a monthly basis, of course this was through the good old HFC.
I was given what I think was a rather steep interest rate by HFC, I think the rate was around the 20% area, all I know is that I got a £750 laptop and im paying just over £1000 back over 4 years.
Only last week I received a phone call from HFC and they were basically offering me a loan for £1750, I was so tempted to take it but that's not the point. I was told that if I were to settle the payments for my laptop I would not have to pay the interest meaning that I only had to pay around £700 and have £1000 for my self. The man on the phone was the best salesman I have ever come across and that is because he was nothing like a salesman, he...

Review of HFC Bank plc
Advantages: easy to be accepted Disadvantages: very high apr
...A few years ago I received a phone call from HFC bank. I had bought a computer on hp and the 6mths interest free credit had run out. HFC were offering me a loan to pay off the computer and also pay off my credit card. They asked me to come into the branch for a meeting. Very bewildered I went in the next day. I went in taking with me payslips from the last 6mths. At the time I was working two part-time jobs. They accepted me for a loan for £1500, a loan that they gave me a cash-card, and a cheque book!? It was too easy.
They also encouraged me to take out a 5yr life insurance policy. Then they hit me with it, after everything was signed I found out that the interest rate I was paying was 27.9% !! What!!
I had that loan for a couple of years not strong willed enough to not take money out anytime it was someones birthday or I...

Review of HFC Bank plc
Advantages: say what? Disadvantages: pfou! where do I start???
...BACKGROUND
********************
I came across HFC a few days ago, and not directly, but through John Lewis. John Lewis uses HFC bank to deal with the extended credit option, when you want to buy an item in several payments.
SO, WHAT'S WRONG?
****************************
FRIDAY NIGHT: Ok... I wanted to buy a laptop in John Lewis, but I didn't have the full amount. I asked for an extended credit option. They gave me the application form, and told me to bring 2 proofs of address, passport, and that was it.
SATURDAY: After having gathered the documents and filled the form, I went back to JL.
Submitted my form, documents, etc.
About 1 hour later, They told me that I didn't have enough proof of address. I brought a bank statement and a mobile phone bill.
Apparently mobile phone bills are not good enough as a proof of address...
Advantages: None Disadvantages: Pay back more than double what you borrow and worthless insurance
...Legalized loan sharks. Initial loan of £8,782 would cost me £17,867.
Got into financial difficulties, my bank said they'd give me loan. HFC suddenly said they'd kindly reduce APR from 25.9.
My bank then didn't give loan. On hearing this HFC amazingly couldn't reduce rate anymore.
I had to seek debt payment plan. All other creditors froze interest. HFC doubled £9,997 I owed them.
Yes it's my fault I'm in debt etc but this is nigh on theft. Debt chasers call unaware of agreement at all hours. Obviously the one you give details too in day shift doesnt change details on records so the late shift chase me again. Some sort of bonus scheme I imagine.
Despise them with a passion, can't see how these practices are legal....

Review of HFC Bank plc
...A few years ago I bought a stereo & speakers for my car. I was offered an interest free credit agreement through HFC, which seemed acceptable at the time, & so started paying the minimum £20 a month. However I wasn't told just how high the interest rate was after the 6mnths (I know, I know, I should have asked) & so after 2yrs of paying over 27%, I eventually found myself with just one payment left.
I then received a call from my local branch (which had just changed its name to Household Bank) offering me a flexible loan at a 'special' introductory rate of 14% for 6mnths. This was actually a good offer, as I used it to pay of my other store cards, which had double the interest. My total loan was just over £1800. Later that week I received my paperwork, which indicated I had a credit limit of £2000. 'Huh, where did that come from' I...

Review of HFC Bank plc

HSBC / HFC Loans - Beware choosing a career with these people!
This morning, I dragged myself out of bed, carefully ironed my shirt and unfolded my suit. I meticulously applied my makeup and dried my hair with the hairdryer (something I never normally do.) A lot of effort to spend another day watching Neighbours and listening to the hold message for Jobline you might think - but lo and behold, I actually had an interview! This time the company were not scammers on the other side of London, but a respected international company with fantastically local offices. My confirmation call from the agency psyched me up and I was...

Review of HFC Bank plc
Advantages: Flexibility and approachable, great customer service Disadvantages: Not many branches in the High Street
...My partner and I were introduced to HFC Bank when we purchased a PC through Dixon's on Hire Purchase.
The interest rates were very reasonable and the service recieved from HFC bank was very good.
A few weeks later the bank contacted us with regard to a new account that they were launching that would save us money with lower interest rates on our lending.
We arranged to meet our bank manager to discuss the benefits in more detail.
He arranged a new account whereby our account was like a huge overdraft with a £1000 credit limit. With the loan account we had a bank card supplied so we may withdraw additional funds from any ATM and also a cheque book.
Part of the package included credit cards. We agreed on a credit limit of £500 each on both my partner and myself's cards.
You can imagine the embarrasment when shopping in...

Review of HSBC
Advantages: Small, compact, easy to use, many functions Disadvantages: Thermal copier, faxing two or more pages
...eventually the Philips HFC 171 was purchased from Staples for the reasonable price of £99.99, however some stores sold it for as much as £129.99. This machine can be found in a wide range of shops including, Sainsburys, Currys, Staples and many other similiar shops. At the time it didn't seem altogether bad value but it seemed even better when the enormous amount of extra features was realised.
The machine is black with light blue keys which are made from a tough jelly. The machine doesn't look sleek but it looks modern and compact. There is a main keypad, seperate answerphone controls and other keys that can used for a variety of functions. Some buttons are green including the play button of the answerphone and the start button for the copier. The reciever is small and light.
It was taken home, plugged into the two necessary ports...
