Yewdale Hotel , Coniston : Food and drinks review.

Advantages: Could not be better positioned at the heart of Coniston.
Disadvantages: Service was slow but friendly.

...We recently spent a few glorious days walking in the Lake District and had forgotten just how beautiful it is there. Based in Coniston and renting one of the Coppermines cottages we had plenty to do during our short stay including walking up the Old Man of Coniston - thats a mountain by the way! - We also spent one day walking from Lake Coniston up into the hills to Tarn Hows which is a simply lovely mountain lake surrounded by hills and woodland. On the way back it started to rain just as we got into Coniston and so we ducked into the Yewdale Hotel and decided to have a couple of drinks and dinner while we waited out the rain. Wonderful walking boots for snow-terrains

Advantages: Comfortable, warm, suitable for the purpose
Disadvantages: Only really useful in snowy / icy weather

If possible, there should be a pull-string round the ankle, so that a snug fit can be achieved, preventing snow from slipping inside your boots. 8. If possible, they need to look stylish, smart enough to wear round town as well as when striding across snow-covered terrain. 9. They need to be affordable, good enough to meet the purpose without breaking the bank. My solution? I have invested in a pair of Hi-tec St. Moritz 200 brown / cream boots, which I bought at the local Outdoor shop. I recommend that you buy them at a specialist outdoors shop, so that you can try them on with suitable socks, to check their fit and level of comfort. ...My review is specifically about the gorgeous village of Coniston. My fiancee and I go up to Coniston about 4 times a year and have been doing for nearly five years now, so it can't be bad! The village of Coniston is situated at the North-western tip of Coniston Water, the lake where Donald Campbell famously crashed and died while attempting to break the water speed record. Unlike its more overstated neighbours (Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside), Coniston is almost unspoilt by tourism / commercialism, but that's not to say it is not a tourist resort. The local community have managed to retain the natural beauty of the town even in the face of all the visitors it receives. The roads are still narrow and winding. An aquarium called a Biorb made by a company called Reef One. With this aquarium there was a difference. The Biorb combines the looks of a traditional gold fish bowl with the performance of a hi-tech aquarium. Advantages: Single varietal bottle conditioned beer from a Lake District microbrewery. Now easily available at your local supermarket
Disadvantages: A touch bitter for my delicate palate - but that's only a personal view

A point and shoot for professional results

...Like all point and shoot cameras the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 has it's limitations, but in my opinion that is a good selling point. As a professional photographer I sometimes need the simplicity of a P&S to help capture a moment without over complicating it with loads of hi-tec equipment. The DCM-TZ3 is one of the easiest cameras I have ever used and the image quality is easily good enough for anything the home user would need and more. I took one of these on a trip to South America recently and I'm earning money from those picures already. The 7.2 megapixel sensor means you can print up to poster size photos with good definition and the X10 zoom lens is remarkable for a camera that can still fit in your pocket. Utterly Brilliant

Advantages: You never need to go on your pc again.
Disadvantages: Not for the technophobic amongst us!

You can have a work scene (with the 7 pages of relevant widgets), a social scene ( with links to your chums, facebook bebo, flikr etc etc), a travel scene (with weather, road reports, Google maps etc) It just goes on and on. Basically, I just want to run around the country handing them out to everyone. However, at £400 a pop, maybe not. The phone seems expensive to me. £400 for a mobile that will be redundant in a year is outrageous. But then all these hi-tec phones are outrageously expensive. It's not actually JUST a phone anyway, it's a mini computer. And an addiction....
