...Upon acquiring our first cichlids we weren't real sure what to feed them aside from the obvious feeder fish they ate at the pet store. Feeders for two oscars can be pretty expensive, so looking into pellet food was something we chose to do. We tried many brands, but our two picky fish put their noses up at these pellets and the water became cloudy. We were cleaning our tank each week and purchasing expensive feeders just so our fish would eat, further ruining the water quality with carcasses. Soon we noticed a thick wall of fuzz on the back glass that we later found out was bacterial growth from too much left-over poor quality food. As a last ditch effort we tried Hikari Cichlid Gold pellets. We noticed that instead of just two sizes of pellets offered as in most brands, they offered four--large, medium, mini and baby sizes...

...Having tried many different Algae wafers in my tanks i have thus far found Hikari to be by far the best. Their pack size choices are great and the size wafers to match the needs of your aquatic inhabitants. Unlike some cheaper algae wafers on the market i have found that The hikari brand do not soil the water in the same way. They stick together pretty well to give the fish their time to eat it. All of my fish have a taste for these from my Angels to my zebra loaches. I use their standard algae wafer and the micro wafer in my tanks. My plecos have been known to refuse other brands so i decided to stick with what i know they love, my 16" gibbiceps pleco can devour 3 or 4 of these a day as if he had not been fed for a month. My ancistrus between the 4 of them will eat 2 a day. I feed the micro wafer to my invert tank...
