This was very much in the same vein as the likes of Resident Evil (1996) in that it is within the 'survival horror' games genre. Unlike Resident Evil, Silent Hill was very much less in the gamers' face, with more emphasis on a subtle approach to the scares and monsters which made for an extremely ominous atmosphere with a level of suspense that made Silent Hill an experience that the player wouldn't forget in a hurry - particularly when they had just switched out the light at bed-time. Sweet dreams! The original Silent Hill game sadly looks a little rough around the edges these days as it is on the PS1... Read review

...I knew Silent Hill for the first time when the game for PSOne console was out on the market, and being a fan of survival horror game I tried the game and proven to be one of the scariest survival horror game ever made. And when I heard it was going to be made into a movie, I couldn't wait to watch it though I had a thought that "it will be disappointing", so I did (few times in fact he..he..he..he) boy I was wrong !!!. Based on a video game for Playstation console with the same tittle "Silent Hill", the movie really represents the game, but with real actors. And it managed to make me a fan of Silent Hill game series to say..... "Wow!" On West Virginia there's a town called Silent Hill. ...My taste in music is simple. I know what I like, end of story. I'm not keen on being boxed in a genre, I may naturally lean to the more rock, indie and guitar based music, no doubt influenced by my own feeble attempts at the guitar in my youth. Send the music on and I will give it a listen and come to a simple yeah or nah decision. Simple is as simple does I suppose. I did not buy the CD 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill' until two years after its 1998 release. Oh yes, I am one of those old fashioned people who won't part with her cash for an album until she's been convinced by the single releases - well what do you expect from someone who remembers vinyl? ...So, i wake up one morning, finding a leaflet from SKY (Sky digital) saying that since we are good customers, they decided to let us have one sky box office film, for free. ...I first visited Robin Hill was I was about seven years old. My family and a collection of our friends and relatives used to embark on a risky adventure every Sunday, which involved sneaking through the hedge to avoid paying the ticket price! A crowd of us used to gather along Briddlesford Road near Robin Hill and scamper through the bushes. One adult used to drive in and pay the admission fee complete with the car laden with picnic items, chairs, blankets and an assortment of cricket accessories. I thought this was highly exciting and terribly naughty! Our adventures mainly involved the adults playing cricket, then drinking in the pub attached to the attraction, while the children ran off playing on the adventure park and visiting the reptile house. These hills and mountains form the bottom part of the mountain range known as the Pennines, that vertically dissects England like a scar. These mountains vary greatly in both shape and height, with the dark, barren plateaux and peaks generally being referred to as the "Dark Peak" and the higher more mountainous areas being referred to as the "High Peak". ...A few years ago my husband had a play station game called Silent Hill. He loved the game and I watched him play and complete all three of the Silent Hill games. All the while I was thinking, this is the sickest game I have ever seen and who ever thought it up should be locked up. Then they made it a film. This is with out a doubt the weirdest, sickest, goriest film I have ever seen. I wont mention the game again as the film is quite different and this is a DVD review. The main story Rose (Radha Mitchell) and Christopher (Sean Bean) adopted a baby girl called Sharon and bring her up as her own, however Sharon has problems. ...A Scottish friend of mine described the Malaysian hill resort of Fraser's Hill as " A nice wee place, a lot like the Highlands of Scotland but with much better weather." ...Silent Hill had, and always will, divide peoples opinions like no other game. Many have described it as a truly shocking modern masterpiece, whilst others not only claimed it wasn't the least bit scary but criticised some of it's more innovative features - one being a radio that crackles with static when monsters are nearby. Well in 2001 Silent Hill was back, radio and all. A survival-horror game from Konami, Silent Hill 2 (SH2) sees you taking the role of James Sunderland, who has travelled to Silent Hill after recieving a letter from his dead wife Mary (it must be genuine you see, because it's her handwriting!) telling him to go to their 'special place'.
