A very nice hotel - Hilton's London Metropole

Advantages: A really nice good quality hotel
Disadvantages: Room could be updated a little

The view out of the window was nothing great, of a police station but in central London I have found very few hotels can offer a good view, and at least this one was not of a brick wall two feet away! There wasn't all that much space, but the room was well designed. The beds were definitely designed for a good night's sleep, with plenty of pillows and a very comfortable matress. The only thing I would say is that the decor was a little dated - but I know the hotel was being refurbished while we were there so maybe they are better now. We were booked into the hotel's restaurant for dinner on our first night as part of our room package, and the meal we had was way above the standard I expected for such a bargain. ...We booked the room online at www.Hilton.co.uk, Hilton guarantee that their best rates are available online. We booked a few months in advance and got a really good rate. Rates do change, at the moment double roms are £110 per night with guest room plus rooms £134. Because I boked well in advance i got a double plus room (gets a sea view, fluffy bath robes etc) for under £100. The Wbsite has info about the hotel including pictures of rooms etc The hotel is relatively modern with lots of car parking. When we checked in Reception was busy but was very efficient. All the public areas of the hotel were spotlessly clean On balance a hotel that I'm likely to stay at again. I stayed on a Sunday, arriving in time for Sunday lunch. The Restaurant, the Promenade, has a Carvery which was extremely good with starters of either soup or a help...

...I went to the Hilton for 3 nights from 27th-30th December 08 during the Christmas period. I went with a friend and her family who had gone to the Hilton the previous Christmas. The rooms were £99 per night for 2 people which I thought was very reasonable. (Although I'm aware depending on season this cost can vary) This included bed, breakfast and a 3 course evening meal (the evening meal only on one night) My friend took charge of booking us into the room so I never discovered how easy it was to book yet I never heard any complaints about the process. Arrival and Check-in When we arrived at the hotel we were directed to an underground car-park. I wasn't too keen on the car park which comprised rows of 3 cars tightly parked together actually parking each other in! Our car was at the front yet I'm not sure how the third car back...

Hilton Hotel, Gatwick

Advantages: Right on the Airport doorstep and connected via walkways.
Disadvantages: NOT cheap!

...walk back into the airport to eat and drink if you are staying the day before a trip. Otherwise its the hotel restaurant where they like you to book but you'll get straight in as I never saw it busy! There is a lounge area, with a few dozen tables in the centre area with waitress service. It can be a little slow especially if its busy. Consider signing up for the Hilton Honors card before you go. Its free but will enable you to get to check in or out quicker than other people. BOTTOM LINE: Good Point: You can walk to the airport in about 5 mins so NO fiddleing about with getting curtsey buses! Bad Point: It'll cost a bit more than other hotels but the convenience of the location could well make up for it....

We opted for lamb with roast potatoes, new potatoes and three vegetables. However, my only complaint about the meal was the vegetables; they were a tad on the raw side for my liking. Dessert was for me home made apple pie and cream, while the other half opted for home made cheesecake ? both were consumed without any complaints and very much enjoyed. Hilton - Gatwick Hotel

...I stayed in the Gatwick Hilton for 2 nights; 23rd March and 1st April. As a general overview I wasn't too impressed with the acclaimed Hilton hotel. There was a large group of us (about 30) and we all entered the hotel via the North terminal entrance. This was good as you could walk through a sheltered walkway to the main reception. The reception area itself had about 6 different stations that could have been used for check-in but only 2 of them were in operation (this was at about 6.30 so quite a few people would have been checking in at this time). It took quite a long time to check every one in and our cards were given out. The hotel had only given us 1 key card per room even though 2/3 people were in a room ? as you can imagine this caused problems of people trying to get into their rooms but their room mate not being there. Advantages: Great place to stay.
Disadvantages: Slightly pricey, but still worth it.

...and helpful. They seemed to be mostly made up of Australians, which I assumed were students earning their way. Well I've always liked the Aussies, so I was happy there. Only a very short walk away, was Baker Street and the Sherlock Holmes House. If you're a fan, you can pop in to actually meet them! Also there were some great little shops and lots of Starbucks. These are all great reasons to stay at the Metropole. So, if you're in London, consider staying at this beautiful Hotel. The foyer is very welcoming, there are a few places to eat in there, and it has a swimmingpool and gym if you're into that sort of thing. All in all, a pleasurable and relaxing place to stay! Hilton Coventry Hotel

Advantages: Close to main road network & NEC. Very helpful staff

...An eventful recent (March 2008) visit in order to compile this review, but more about that aspect later. This hotel is part of the international Hilton chain, and was chosen by my wife and I for a winter/spring weekend break for us along with our 16 month-old little boy. We have stayed at numerous Hilton group hotels previously in the UK and in other parts of the world and have usually been pleased with their standards. This was a 'last minute' booking, so we had to take what was available, and on initially being offered 'Coventry' we weren't too keen - we had visions of not talking to one another whilst we were there !! Advantages: Close to tube station, friendly staff, comfortable rooms
