A very nice hotel - Hilton's London Metropole

Advantages: A really nice good quality hotel
Disadvantages: Room could be updated a little

The view out of the window was nothing great, of a police station but in central London I have found very few hotels can offer a good view, and at least this one was not of a brick wall two feet away! There wasn't all that much space, but the room was well designed. The beds were definitely designed for a good night's sleep, with plenty of pillows and a very comfortable matress. The only thing I would say is that the decor was a little dated - but I know the hotel was being refurbished while we were there so maybe they are better now. We were booked into the hotel's restaurant for dinner on our first night as part of our room package, and the meal we had was way above the standard I expected for such a bargain. Advantages: Excellent location

...I went to the Hilton for 3 nights from 27th-30th December 08 during the Christmas period. I went with a friend and her family who had gone to the Hilton the previous Christmas. The rooms were £99 per night for 2 people which I thought was very reasonable. (Although I'm aware depending on season this cost can vary) This included bed, breakfast and a 3 course evening meal (the evening meal only on one night) My friend took charge of booking us into the room so I never discovered how easy it was to book yet I never heard any complaints about the process. Arrival and Check-in When we arrived at the hotel we were directed to an underground car-park. I wasn't too keen on the car park which comprised rows of 3 cars tightly parked together actually parking each other in! Our car was at the front yet I'm not sure how the third car back...

Hilton Hotel, Gatwick

Advantages: Right on the Airport doorstep and connected via walkways.
Disadvantages: NOT cheap!

...walk back into the airport to eat and drink if you are staying the day before a trip. Otherwise its the hotel restaurant where they like you to book but you'll get straight in as I never saw it busy! There is a lounge area, with a few dozen tables in the centre area with waitress service. It can be a little slow especially if its busy. Consider signing up for the Hilton Honors card before you go. Its free but will enable you to get to check in or out quicker than other people. BOTTOM LINE: Good Point: You can walk to the airport in about 5 mins so NO fiddleing about with getting curtsey buses! Bad Point: It'll cost a bit more than other hotels but the convenience of the location could well make up for it....

Central London Budget Hotel

Advantages: Great location, Comfortable beds.
Disadvantages: Grubby

...of the word clean. +++Prices+++++ We paid £99 per night for a triple room including breakfast which is great for Central London. They were happy to take a telephone booking in return for a credit card number. Details of the prices are on the web site. +++Summary++++ Overall it was a nice, friendly, small hotel and if they cleaned it up I would be happy to go back again. Otherwise I will not be going back! There are lots of other hotels in the same road which might be worth considering....

Briliant Value In Central London

..., probably because Friends and Will and Grace are more appealing that the cartoons they were showing on the other channels that day, what with it being shortly after Christmas (the photo on the website implies you'll be munching away to the BBC Breakfast?) The breakfast room could seat about 20 people and most of the tables were full while we were there, dispelling the myth that we were the only guests in residence. So how much did a night in this remarkably acceptable central London hotel cost? A mere £65 in total for a triple room and breakfast for 3. This, dear reader, is considered a wild bargain in m mind, and explains why my expectations were low prior to arrival. The Hilton without a chihuauhua or a range of perfumes

Advantages: Good rail connections, good for the Excel or London City Airport, but not too remote for the city
Disadvantages: It's expensive but by London terms, you get a lot for your money.

...and lots of rather stylish lamps and other lighting. The minibar was stocked with overpriced goodies, the bathroom was stylish and spotlessly clean and the Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries were immediately identified as good enough to take home. Handy for????? I was staying at the hotel as part of a large group using it as a base for going to the Excel exhibition centre. Getting around London can be a nightmare and we were all going to be on our feet all day long so we didn't want to be in central London with a long journey to get to Excel every day. Taxis took about 15 minutes and the Docklands Light Railway could get us there in a similar time, though not necessarily much more cheaply if we put 4 people in each taxi. On our first night we found plenty of options for eating out around Canary Wharf and didn't need to venture too far away...

Hilton - Gatwick Hotel

...I stayed in the Gatwick Hilton for 2 nights; 23rd March and 1st April. As a general overview I wasn't too impressed with the acclaimed Hilton hotel. There was a large group of us (about 30) and we all entered the hotel via the North terminal entrance. This was good as you could walk through a sheltered walkway to the main reception. The reception area itself had about 6 different stations that could have been used for check-in but only 2 of them were in operation (this was at about 6.30 so quite a few people would have been checking in at this time). It took quite a long time to check every one in and our cards were given out. The hotel had only given us 1 key card per room even though 2/3 people were in a room ? as you can imagine this caused problems of people trying to get into their rooms but their room mate not being there. Victoria Park Plaza Hotel, London It's More Than A Hotel!

Advantages: Pleasant Staff, Good Customer Service, Nice Breakfast

...also room for the guest staying for a short break. The food was delicious and the breakfast was plentiful with a range of choice for the continental breakfast. The food was fresh and tasty. It was served at the correct temperature and filled me up for the whole morning. You could eat as much or as little as you wanted and nobody would give you any hassle or rush you. The juice was fresh and tasty and it wasn't out of a carton. There was so much choice and everyone seemed to be enjoying the breakfasts. Victoria Park Plaza is centrally located just 2 minutes from Victoria Underground, Gatwick Express and National Rail station, with direct services to central London, Gatwick Airport and the South of England.
