...Ive hired several times from my Budget branch in Newcastle city centre and always came away with a feeling of contentment.I always know that before I pick up my vehicle I will be driving a quality Ford, that is a new model and it will only be a couple of months old. Ive hired several typres of car and on occasions Transit vans.All vehicles have been cleaner properly and are always ready at the time that I want the rental to start.Even the vans are spotless inside and out. Petsas - A Good Local Alternative for Car Hire in Cyprus

Advantages: Competitive rates. Good service and a well maintained, excellent selection of cars.
Disadvantages: Typically laid back Cypriot attitude. Need to haggle for best prices.

Carjet car hire - absolutely average!

Advantages: You can choose whether to pay up front or on collection
Disadvantages: Read the small print for the hidden charges and then try to find your car!

...For the past 2 years we have spent a week in Nerja on the Costa Del Sol (about a 45 minute drive from Malaga Airport, where we collected and returned our hire car) and on both occasions used Carjet as our car rental supplier. 2006 and we had great service, no deposit, no hidden charges (although we did pay extra insurance - about 15 Euros to cover wheel damage and small "dings") and felt that we had received good value for our money. We rented a Renault Megane Scenic type people carrier car for £129 for the week, including half a tank of petrol, which we were to top up and return to the same and 2 free booster seats for our two young children. 2007 and the operator although still branded as Carjet is now using local firm Goldcar Europa - previously the supplier was Crown. Really Easy Cheap Car Hire

Advantages: Clear no hidden charges, simple booking system
Disadvantages: Difficult to judge how little fuel left in tank

...CarJet's web based car hire system is the best way to hire a car in spain. Just book online (you can pay on arrival if you want) and drop into the office at your destination airport. It's as simple as that. I must admit I was impressed with the clear no nonsense web site which gave prices with no hidden extras. 1CAR1 - EXCELLENT CHOICE AND SERVICE

...We hired a car for 6 weeks and the service from booking to drop off was impecable. 1car1 was the most resonable quote we got and included fully comprehensive insurance. A phone call from the airport on arrival (as directed -Manchester Office) resulted in us being picked up within 10 minutes . We drove a short distance to the office to complete documentation. Everything was very smooth. efficient and the staff were absolutely wonderful. We arrived very late but no complaints from the service staff, infact they were very welcoming . We had a similar experience when we dropped the car off. We highly recommend this company and I think others who had equally satisfying experiences should complete a review. ...After hiring a car with this company last December (07) and being accused of causing additional damage to the vehicle on its return I was stunned to be charged £500 excess and told if there was any money left following the repair it would be refunded to me. After months of letters to 1Car1, their regulator The BVRLA, the office of fair trading etc etc I was able to get sight of the Invoice fpr the repair of the vehicle only to find that I hd been charged for every minor repair to the vehicle in addition to the one which I was accused of causing. I have no doubt that I was not the only customr to have been charged this £500 excess, but was informed that no refund was due as the bill for the repairs was in excess of £500. After a further round of e-mail 1CAR1 have refunded some of the excess, but this has not been pro-rated to...

Good quality Holiday car hire

Disadvantages: Queues-not what you need after a ten hour flight

...Ive now rented with Alamo/National car hire in the states now three time.Each time Ive found no problems at all.Ive found the staff to be very helpful...everyone was offered me a map and directions for journey when first collect the vehicle...some thing thats very welcoming when you are in a strange country. From both Miami and Los Angeles airport locations where I have rented from, the longest I had to wait for a shuttle bus which runs from directly outside any exit was 3 minutes...(even on 1am in the morning). Queues when your waiting to fill in your paperwork to pick up your car can be long(30 minutes), second time I paided about £15.00 for the full rental period and got lots of benefits....express pick up...no cancellation fees...and a full tank of petrol and an additional driver. All cars Ive had, have been new with low...

Budget car hire, budget prices & budget staff

...I have used Budget car hire on a number of occasions from Belfast International Airport over the years. I usually book through an on-line agent called 'Auto Europe' who provide very competitive rates & discounts for regular use. The service provide by Budget staff is at best patchy. I normally book insurance in advance to protect my excess wavier of £600 which Budget charges anything up to £17.50 a day for. My on line charge works out at £3.80 a day for the same cover, when you decline it from the Budget staff they do get a bit tetchy, I guess they must get a percentage from the booking. One day I refused their excess protection & so then they added 'cross border' insurance for travelling to Dublin with. When I queried this charge, again they become very tetchy. I stated that each time I used Budget they ask me where I'm travelling...

Excellent value car hire at Palma airport

Advantages: Best value at Palma airport - no insurance excess
Disadvantages: Fuel policy - no refund for unused fuel

...of comments on the internet grumbling about this policy. It grates for a lot of people that its seems unfair that you should be charged for fuel that you don't use. Holiday Autos use Hiper Rent in Palma airport and they have the same fuel policy. However, I looked at this way. The cheapest rate I found from the international car hire firms was around 160 euros for six days in October. Europa Goldcar were quoting 108. When you're hurrying back to the airport at the end of your holiday you're not going to risk letting the tank fall below about a quarter, especially in a car you're not familiar with and which might not have an accurate fuel gauge. Small cars tend to have tanks of around 40-45 litres. So you're bound to be giving the car back to them with 10-15 euros worth of fuel in it. So that takes the price to around 120 euros - still a lot less...
