..., comic strips, jokes, poems and letters; although I have not checked I would imagine many a technique for encouraging the young to read. The blurb states 'History with the nasty bits left in! They most certainly do have those nasty bits left in but the books are written in such a way that they come across as unbelievable or humorous. The introduction page is in simple language mainly telling the reader that history can be boring at school or history can be horrible, they tempt the child to read because it makes the child think they will learn something that their teachers or adults will not tell them, which is possibly true as most history is generally taught without humour or trivia. I personally do not have a favourite book as they are all so engaging although I do have favourite times in history as I think most of us do. See if...

American History X

Advantages: Great plot, superb characters and a theme that needed to be discussed
Disadvantages: violent

.... However, I would totally defend the film because to me it's actually a good piece of art. Rather than making a lovely dove semi violent movie, the director when for the honest and brutal truth about the Aryan gangs, the racial hatred in the world and what can happen in prison (if you bend down for the soap). Quick Info on the Director: Tony Kaye is actually an English Director born in London, 1952. Unfortunately American History X was his only feature film, which to me was a real shame is this film really bought out the best in the director, but he stuck around directing music videos and continued doing lower key documentaries and so on. ...ranges in topics and covers the majority of history (except the really ancient stuff) so is really interesting. I've always been more inclined to study modern history before, but I've had a good insight into more medieval history as well, which has been a bonus. Apart from the general disorganisation of the place, I think it's fab! The workload is never *too* bad, it just depends how hard you like to push yourself. And the quality of teaching is generally very good!...

Telling the history of the nation with enjoyment

...If this had not been written by one of the best-known journalists and commentators working today, I'd have had my doubts about the title. Sure, the book is what it says on the cover, though a rather dry academic designation like that might put off the more general reader. As long as it doesn't, fine. Because anybody who has read Marr in the papers, seen him on TV, or enjoyed his various historical documentary series, will need little further recommendation from me. With over 600 pages of closely printed text, this one isn't for the faint-hearted and probably not for the casual reader. But though a serious work, it is magnificently researched and written with a pleasing lightness of touch. Marr evidently enjoys telling the chequered story of our nation, and the text is a journey through solid fact and not a few amusing anecdotes about...

...This film is one of the best films ever made the story is exellent and is very true to life, I have bought american history x and i realy enjoy it and its a film that can be watched time and time again, the endin is good because there could have been a follow up but there wasn't one made. American history x is about black and white people back in the day, they did not get on and white men and women joined racist groups, and went on rampages all endin in deaths and jail the story show that times and people both change the film is a realy good watch for 18+ well worth buying, its an older film and is quit cheap to buy....

Generally Chaotic

...I decided to write a review of this seeing as I've never met anyone else who has ever heard of this bar my own brother. we used to while away the time on this simplistic army game. The game is named after one of the storyline's main General's. The conflict in question is between the blue forces of 'General Chaos' and the red troops of 'General Havoc.' The game is a very cartoony offering from EA, released in 1994 on SEGA Mega Drive. It is a mulitplayer compatible game and two players can play either co-op or against each other, and if I'm not mistaken, it was also possible to play 4 player with use of the special multiplayer pads. I no longer own this game and as a result am reviewing this from hazy childhood memory.
