British Army - sorts the men from the boys
Advantages: Good Experience
Disadvantages: Often Dangerous, Underpaid for half the work !
...The British Army provides a real way out for many people, it gives morales and standards to many young people, who otherwise wouldnt have a chance of survival in their home environment.
As an employer, it often neglects its duty of care, and the work environments can be exceptionally challenging, the day to day life often crosses the thin line of ridiculousness, and again, as an employer, the Ministry of Defence fails to protect its employees from several areas of harm that should not be found in the Army.
The Recruitment process usually starts in the Recruiting Station, where a potential recruit will make several visits to discuss their options.
After a few tests, they can choose a trade, in which the Army will train them to be proficient in their undertakings. As time continues the Soldier will gain valuable experience in his...

From Neanderthal to Blair - A British History
Advantages: A humorously irreverent look at British history.
Disadvantages: None for me. Too English for some?
...*** The Author ***
Sean Lang studied history at Oxford, has written conventional history books and reviewed textbooks in The Times Educational Supplement.
He has been teaching history for over twenty years in schools and university, and he thanks his students for helping to inspire him to write this entertaining history book, which is not the kind usually found in school.
Other ?For Dummies? books by this engaging historian that I intend to read are European History and Twentieth Century History.
*** Who Would Appreciate It? ***
I believe that the readers who would appreciate this book most will have the sort of basic knowledge of British history gained by completing a British secondary school education, even if they thought history lessons were tedious and didn?t pay much attention. I would hope this book would...

Bite Into British History
Advantages: Concise, fully-indexed, history of Britain.
Disadvantages: Not as enjoyable or inclusive as British History for Dummies.
... The Author
Judy Parkinson seems to be on a crusade to help us learn and remember academic facts.
In August 2007 it was through the release of her book "i before e".
Then in October 2008 her book Remember, Remember (The Fifth of November) was published.
Her newest effort Spilling the Beans on the Cat's Pyjamas: Popular Expressions - What They Mean and How We Got Them is due in the shops in September 2009.
Contents
In Remember, Remember, the author has broken down British history into A5 sized, one page chunks, with a new heading for each.
The individual pages are bought together into the following chapters: Roman Britain, The Dark Ages, The Late Middle Ages, Tudor Britain, Stuart Britain, Georgian Britain, Victorian Britain, Edwardian Britain, The First World War Years, The Inter-War Years...

A career in the British Army
Advantages: Excellent travel, adventure training
Disadvantages: Miss family and friends
...A career in the British Army ?, One has to think what do you want out of life if you happy with a 9 - 5 job with the family and friends that you have grown up with, then I would not recommend it for you, If you are looking for that something else, that bit of adventure, the advantage of trying out new things in new countrys, top notch, adventure training in the kind of places that you have not ever dreamed of, then I would highly recommend it to you, but it do's not suit everybody people tend to know themselves if they have got it in them. As in life you have to take the rough with the smooth, you can end up in some very nasty places and situations, you can also end up in some fantastic places very rarely seen by other people. It has excellent holidays with 30 days paid leave and bank holidays on top of that. It's main factor is that...

A real sense of history.
Advantages: Superb sense of history, close up view
Disadvantages: crowds
...***Background***
It doesn't seem six months ago that we heard that The Terracotta Army was to leave the shores of China for the first time and take up temporary residence in The British Museum. This was an opportunity that simply could not be wasted as this exhibition may never find it's way to these shores again. We therefore booked tickets on-line and had a wide choice of availability in terms of time slots/dates given we were booking so far in advance.
Tickets cost £12 adults/child under 16 free so for 5 adults and a child it cost £66 including booking fee. Booking was a very simple process and all tickets are for a timed entry slot (ours was 11:30, Sunday 23 March 2008). However, given the exhibition is nearing an end all advanced tickets are sold out although up to 500 tickets (Monday - Friday) or 700 tickets (Weekend) are...

How to be a good wife of
Advantages: social life excellent,
Disadvantages: not good for children
...This is my opinion on being a "wife of" in the British Army, for those of you who don't know this is how the army refer to you officially. This was my only problem with the British Army they see families as excess baggage.
Now I know they don't really have time to worry about the families of service men when there are wars etc. going on but they could make a bit more effort to make us feel wanted after all they usually say happy wives men happy solidiers.
I spent eight years as an army wife, my husband got out after the Gulf war, during this time I did not have any problems as I am quite self sufficient and don't mind spending long periods of time on my own when hubby was of saving the country or someone else's country. However, I should note here that at these times there is the added worry of what if hubby doesn't return and it...

A difficult task
Advantages: Army provides skills and job security, housing, training, chance of travel ...
Disadvantages: ...but you might get killed in some place for the privilege.
...Today's young adults are not like their counterparts forty, thirty or even twenty years ago. They do not like to be bossed about all the time, and obviously this is a part of the Army's very being. I think our culture has been part of the problem here, because we have bowed away from discipline over recent years, and unfortunately you are not going to find anyone who has been undisciplined, suddenly opting for it. This creates a problem in recruiting for any of the military forces, let alone the Army which has always been the most put upon, and least glamourous.
The new ads are hoping to boost recruiting, ut I think they will fail. You will always have those who aspire to be in the military, and those will still enlist. Unless the military makes itself more attractive in other ways, I do not see it improving on its ability to...

British History
Advantages: See Opinion
Disadvantages: See Opinion
...pace of combat interspersed with the boredom and the graveyard humour of the wait until the next attack. One of the ironies of military life, which this film gives one a true glimpse of.
This film is more then just a film its true British history, and I most highly recommend this film to you....

Aldershot Army Show
Advantages: Children are free to enter, gives the public an insight into army life past and present
Disadvantages: Foul toilets, dusty sight, no shade.
...Aldershot Army Show:
On the 16th July, my family and I attended the Aldershot Army Show. This was the second time we had attended and as previously, had a fantastic day out. I would like to share with you some of our experiences and some photographs of the 2006 show.
****** HISTORY OF THE SHOW ******
Aldershot is a military area. In 1918 a horse show was staged here for the first time which saw both officers and civilians compete in certain events. This was known as "The Horse and Hound Show".
By 1930, the show was growing in popularity and it was renamed "The Aldershot Show". In 1961 the Army introduced a new variety of displays. However due to heavy usage of Rushmoor Arena in world war two, it was decided to use Queens Parade as its venue.
The event was known as the KAPE campaign, which means, Keep...

the features of army of two
Advantages: a very violent and enjoyable game with great coop gameplay
Disadvantages: it is shorter than expected
...Army of two is about two rangers, who after their first mission of watching a mercenary in action are offered a job as one. they decide to join and become mercenaries too.
This game is inventive in the way that you can customise your weapons and armour. This varies from the size of the barrel to pimping your gun to make it look cool (make it gold!). But each one of these add-on's affects your damage, range, magazine cap. and aggro.
This brings me too the most important feature of the game which makes it stand out from most other games. Aggro: this is where the focus of fire is concentrated more on one person. This means they have the "aggro". The reason aggro is important for this game is that your strategy in the game is based mainly around it.
For example, if one person takes the "aggro" then the other player can sneak round...
