Reviews of hitachi dv
Good value
Review of Hitachi DV-P250e by
Howitza
Advantages: Price and quality, and options
Disadvantages: None
...I bought this DVD player for £300 and now it is selling for £400 - Hitachi have obviously realised that they have undersold this highly-well received player. Voted the best DVD player in the under £300 category when it originally appeared on the marketplace its classy silver exterior is a sure sign of its high calibre. Numerous options including multi-region capabilities and multiple speeds along with a great zoom function make for a very comprehensive list of additional features. The picture playback is where this little gem really shines however - you won't be disappointed with the sharp, crisp images...

throw away the vcr
Review of Hitachi DV-P 305 by
agentcooper59
Advantages: easy to use inexpensive top features
Disadvantages: none found yet
...I have recently purchased the hitachi dvd player dv -p305, the purchase price was £229.95, i had been told that the dvd was far superior in picture quality to that of a vcr.
How right they where ,needless to say the video is now in the skip, the picture quality of the dvd is beyond belief.
Setting the unit up was a piece of cake, just plug in and play, controls on the unit where very easy to understand and not to close together,so anyone with a disability should have no problem using it.
The handset is quite slim, but the buttons are arranged for ease of use
On the rear of the set is ample aux/scart sockets for every type of in home entertainment i can think of,i have connected mine via the hi fi so now i can enjoy full cinema sound,at a fraction of the cost.
The menue from the onset give you ample variations on screen layout ,so if like...

Don't all DVD player pictures look the same
Review of Hitachi DV-P 305 by
dnh9
Advantages: What you get for the price.
Disadvantages: Not multi-region(?) - if that matters to you.
.... I was reluctant to go for the cheapest one there, and the Hitachi had a nice silvery look to it. It cost me £199 on 26 Jan 01.
It supports VideoCD and CD as well as DVD. I played a compact disc, and it sounded fine to me through my TV's nicam stereo speakers.
I like the handset. It has straightforward buttons for navigation, rather than one of those fiddly joysticks I've tried elsewhere.
The player has options for zoom (x2 and x4) from any of 64 positions over the screen. It can play back up to x32 speed. You can repeat a particular segment over and over; you can bookmark up to three positions, to which you can easily return; and you can set it to play DVD scenes (or CD tracks) in any order you choose. But for all I know, most other players will do this too.
One thing that surprised me was the output behaviour. Coming from 10...

Simple and solid
Review of Hitachi DV-P250e by
Guzman
Advantages: Excellent playback and simple interface
Disadvantages: Perhaps not ideal for an entry level machine
...Having purchased my Hitachi DVP-250 back in November 1999 I don’t have any real complaints at all. At the time I purchased the player it was exceptionally good value for money as not only can it handle Dolby 5.1 it is multi-regional and has DTS capability something not widely available at the time.
The main attraction was the multi-regional capability as films are one of my real loves and I wanted to buy Region 1 DVD’s for two main reasons. The first was the early release dates and the second was the extra features on the Region 1 DVD’s.
The only downer was that I had to have the player in a brushed chrome/silver colour but that was a small price to pay for the quality of the machine. It has the normal SCART connections and more than sufficient input/output ports to satisfy all but the most picky of people...

Smooth Sophistication with lots of Style
Review of Hitachi DV-RX 7000 by
Starseeker1
Advantages: Looks Good and is Very Easy to Use
Disadvantages: Sometimes stops recording for no reason
...We had this DVD Recorder for just over a year, and we were very cautious as to which one to go for. After much deliberation we thought we would go for the Hitachi DVD Recorder, which we bought from Argos at around £350.00.
I have always rated Hitachi very highly, and most of there stuff does ooze quality, as does this DVD recorder. We were very impressed with it. It looks real sophisicated. It is very slim and stylish and would fit almost anywhere.
-----------------------------
Some of its Features:
It has lots of connection points, which is always good, and can be used with scart leads, coaxial cables and rgb scart etc. Some Televisions only have maybe one scart lead socket, so if this is the case, you can always connect up via the DVD recorders coaxial cable sockets. I must add though that this does alter the quality...

Cost-effective DVD recorder
Review of Hitachi DV-DS 161 E by
yassarikhan786
Advantages: Record many hours of video, upload and view (photos, music and video)
Disadvantages: Inability to use 'Timer' function with HDD.
...I have to admit when i first saw the specifications of this DVD recorder, I was impressed at what it had to offer. So i decided to buy it and give it a go, my initial reactions to the DVD recorder were great, and stayed that way for a while until it became just another piece of electronic hardware.
It was for £300-£400 when it came out about 1-2 years ago, it was well worth the price due to its range of features. I do not know if the price of this particular DVD recorder has dropped. I recently checked the Google website for prices and was not successful. Maybe Hitachi have stopped producing this model as Blu-ray technology is slowly taking over the video media world. E bay are currently selling this model, but they are not labeled "Buy Now", so you would have to bid in order to get one. You might get lucky and gain a bargain.
Now...

End of Cassttes, TDK Mini DV Tapes, Superb
Review of TDK DVM 60ME Mini DV 60 min by
qasem121
Advantages: Record over and over again, high quality, Compact
Disadvantages: 2 play in video you need a dv casstee convertor
...Mini DV tapes are great... And the best thing is you can record over them as many times as you like over and over again and you still get a high quality picture.
Well what about my experience:
Having brought a DV Camcorder I wanted to buy DV Tapes..
So rather than just buying any DV Tape I started to do my research like I normally do when I buy any of my products.
I searched online (Googling IT) for DV Tapes that where of a high quality and which had a perfect playback quality.
While searching over the net I came across a few DV Tape makes such as Fuji, DVC, Sony, Maxell & TDK
Having read reviews about the products like I normally do, I decided to go down to my local Argos store and buy TDK DVM-60 MiniDV Tapes for £7.99. I was expecting to buy just 1 for that price but I got 2 for that price. What a bargin!
Now to my experience...

Customer Service 2ND to None
Review of Hitachi - Customer Service by
vestyboy
Advantages: Swift, friendly and efficient service
Disadvantages: NONE
...I feel i have to write this as i have just experienced the EXCELLENT customer service department of Hitachi.
I won a 28" TV in a Sky Digital prize draw, with the TV being delevered direct from Hitachi. I was contacted to arrange a conveinient delivery time, which was met by the couriers. When the TV arrived it did not include a stand, and the TV was too big to go on the stand i already had.
I rang Hitachi direct who advised the stand for the model TV i had won could be purchased direct from Hitachi for £24.95, which i thought was more than reasonable. They advised the address to send the cheque.
I posted the chque and was amazed when the stand turned up within only 3 days of me posting the letter, not even enough time for them to make sure the cheque cleared.
So i set up the TV and it didn't work. I rand Hitachi again at 2.00pm...

Drives us crazy!
Review of Hitachi PowerHouse 1100 by
rlacey
Advantages: Excellent Sucking! - Good on edges
Disadvantages: Attachments keep coming off
...The Hitachi Powerhouse 1100 "To the Edge" hoover has to be one of the worst we have ever purchased. Whilst the suction is ample enough to excite!, the built in attachments simply are not practical. This includes.
1. Too Short
2. Breaks easily
3. Keeps coming out of the bottom.
The hoover is also very heavy, and because of this, my wife refuses to use it. Consequently I end up having to do the hoovering, which although I enjoy, can sometimes get tedious when doing the stairs with the short attachments.
The attachments coming out of the bottom tend to be a real pain as you have to keep bending over. This gives rise to back pain, which at my age I cannot tolerate!
Come on Hitachi, get your act together and give us a hoover with longer attachments....
