...I love this idea, whoever thought this up is a genius. A lot of families have storage problems my main pain in the backside is lack of room for excess bedding that i keep spare for guests and what not, So this is magnificent, how the air can be sucked out of the bag with any pipe vacuum cleaner and reduce the size of package to less than a quarter of the size. Brilliant for duvets and pillows i might add and to top it all off it keeps all those bugs away and when you do unpack them they smell as good as the day you washed them and put the items in there. Excellent I would rate these to anybody you can even use them for going abroad and storing your much loved items and reducing space which we all know must happen when traveling on a plane think of the goodies you can bring back !! ...We purchased a Hitachi 28" Pure Flat Screen TV in the January 2003 sales. A bargain reduced from £600 to £389. Unfortunately by February 2004 we had a problem with it. A grey screen with wavey diagonal lines and it kept turning itself off after about 5 seconds. Anyway - stupid like we didnt take the extended guarantee - which i would advise everyone to do - if you can afford it obviously. The TV was taken away by a local engineer and basically needed some extensive welding and it cost us £170 and we were left without the TV for 3 weeks. Well we werent happy as you can imagine so we tried to contact Hitachi. We telephoned our local Miller Brothers store who supplied it and they only had a fax number for Hitachi - nothing else !!! So I searched the web and found a few addresses and forward the original reciept...

Huge storage and cheap price

Advantages: Big storage, quite quiet
Disadvantages: None after 1 month of use

...I bought this drive to replace my old 250gb western digital and 320gb samsung hard drives. I chose this Hitachi drive as at the time it was the best value drive I could find, and for the £58 I paid (from a company called overclockers) it offered a massive amount of storage at 1TB. So far I've been using it for a month and no problems to report yet. It isn't the quietest drive I've used, but it is certainly by no means a noisy drive and also seems to have nice quick access times compared to my older SATA drives. Im using it as my only drive, with windows on a separate partition and all my other documents and programs on the remainder of the drive. The boot up time for windows seems quick at the moment, however i am sure with time it will slow down as all drives do when they get full of user files and related junk! As far as...

Storage For The Masses

Advantages: A decent capacity, pretty cheap, vertically mounted
Disadvantages: Not really all that portable, can be a bit noisy for a bedroom, it's grey!

...one thing it doesn't support (or at least with me) is a Vista function called ReadyBoost. If you don't know what it is then don't worry about it as you probably don't use it. It's usually used with flash RAM devices anyway. It's spin speed is around 7200RPM so it's not exactly slow and has a seek time of around 9ms so accessing files is pretty quick. On the transfer stakes it does a good job. I can transfer a 1.5gb movie file in around 1 minute 30 seconds, and small files are also just as fast. It's also helped by the fact that it's USB 2.0 so the theory is you can transfer 480Mb per second. So what's the downside of it? Well first up, as I said, it's grey.
