Advantages: The look. The portability. The games. The films. The accessories. Pretty much the whole package.
Disadvantages: Not out in the UK yet!!!! Battery life. Loading times

...it. Forget the Nintendo DS, Gizmondo or Nokia N-Gage -they are all truly abysmal compared to the Sony PSP. What's more - is that the Sony PSP is in early development stage - so it's only going to get better and better and better. Also - the sound is a real surpise. Even the stereo speakers sound OK, but when you plug in the headphones, you really notice a huge difference. The sound quality whilst not cinema like - is still very very good, and amazing considering it's coming out of a handheld device. Gaming on the PSP is just like gaming on the Playstation. The only thing that might aggravate some people are the loading times , but to be honest the wait is well worth it, so I'm not too bothered about it! For gaming - I can envisage the PSP destroying the competition - because it is so great. Sony's rivals will have to come up...

Advantages: Clear screen, lots of features, easy to use and a large range of games and movies.
Disadvantages: Can't be used with strong light and quite easy to damage/scratch

...The Sony PSP is a gaming device made for on the go gamers. There is a very wide range of games you can play on the PSP, and these mainly consist of previous PlayStation 2 games such as Grand Theft Auto Vice City and other classic games. The PSP is set out like a PlayStation controller but with a 4.3 inch screen in the middle. The console itself is a great size and does not weight very much. The screen also is very good - it delivers a clear picture and depending on the game, not bad graphics. The games are stored on a UMD disk which stands for Universal Media Disks which consist of 1.8GB. As well as buying games on the UMD disks, you can also buy popular films such as Spiderman and watch them on the go. ...We purchased a Hitachi 28" Pure Flat Screen TV in the January 2003 sales. A bargain reduced from £600 to £389. Unfortunately by February 2004 we had a problem with it. A grey screen with wavey diagonal lines and it kept turning itself off after about 5 seconds. Anyway - stupid like we didnt take the extended guarantee - which i would advise everyone to do - if you can afford it obviously. The TV was taken away by a local engineer and basically needed some extensive welding and it cost us £170 and we were left without the TV for 3 weeks. Well we werent happy as you can imagine so we tried to contact Hitachi. We telephoned our local Miller Brothers store who supplied it and they only had a fax number for Hitachi - nothing else !!! So I searched the web and found a few addresses and forward the original reciept...

Hitachi PDV-302 Portable DVD player

Advantages: Small, Light,7" widescreen, Easy to use, Various features, battery pack and mains adapter
Disadvantages: Battery only lasts 3 hours

...I had been after a Portable DVD player for a while but hadn't really seen one which caught my eye, until i found this one. It is small and light unlike all the other bulkier models that i have seen on the market. I had a look on their website and decided that this would be a reasonable investment. and i was right. The model is just perfect for what i need it for, its small enough to fit in a dash of a car but large enough for 2 people to watch with ease as it has a 7" widescreen TFT screen. You can even watch with head phones as there are 2 sockets on the side. It will play CD-R and CD-RW also JPEG and MP3. You can even connect it to a TV and it comes with all the cables to do so. The battery itself only last about 3 hours and takes 3 hours to charge although I'm sure you can purchase battery packs for it....

The screen is a good size for handheld games console (4.3 inches) and has a processor speed of 333 MHz.. ...I love my PSP, but I'm still playing games I bought 2 or 3 years ago for my original PSP-1000. For a new user, especially, the lack of new games is enough to make anyone worry about investing in one. The 4.3-inch LCD wide screen remains, and it's been tweaked. Sony says the new screen now delivers better color reproduction, reduced glare, and reduced "ghosting" on high-motion scenes. When compared with the 2000, the PSP 3000 does, indeed, deliver better color vibrancy (you can toggle between "wide" and "standard" color in the options to see the difference). As for glare reduction: we didn't find there to be a huge difference. Don't expect to play in direct sunlight, for instance. But you might have better luck with fewer distractions from indoor light sources....

Mine rarely leaves my side as it can play music, store pictures, play games, surf the internet wirelessly, play movies and many more things. PRICE The price of the PSP and its accessories have dropped alot since the inital release so now is a good time to get one. When the PSP was launced just over a year ago now it was around £180-£250 depending on how many extras you wanted.
