...We purchased a Hitachi 28" Pure Flat Screen TV in the January 2003 sales. A bargain reduced from £600 to £389. Unfortunately by February 2004 we had a problem with it. A grey screen with wavey diagonal lines and it kept turning itself off after about 5 seconds. Anyway - stupid like we didnt take the extended guarantee - which i would advise everyone to do - if you can afford it obviously. The TV was taken away by a local engineer and basically needed some extensive welding and it cost us £170 and we were left without the TV for 3 weeks. Well we werent happy as you can imagine so we tried to contact Hitachi. We telephoned our local Miller Brothers store who supplied it and they only had a fax number for Hitachi - nothing else !!! So I searched the web and found a few addresses and forward the original reciept...

Hitachi HDR161 - Very handy!

Advantages: Lots of room for recordings, tapes 2 shows at the same time, can pause live TV
Disadvantages: Your restricted to what you can receive through your aerial, no digital PDC alternative

...Freeview set top boxes that come with a built in hard drive, allowing you to record programmes from any channel the box can receive through your current aerial, through the Freeview platform, onto the hard drive. This model comes with a good size hard drive of, well the model number pretty much gives it away, you guessed it, 160gb! which, Argos says (as does the manual), is the equivalent of approxiemately 80 hours of recordings. It currently costs £129.99 and there is also a cheaper 80gb model which gives you half that space, so about 40 hours of recording time. I guess I was a bit greedy going for the larger model but if I really use it, I want to have room to store some films and TV shows for the weeks ahead and know I can still tape other things for some time to come... the space hasn't been a problem at all so far, I've got about 18...

This Hitachi punches above its weight

Operated by CSC Media Group, it replaced the music channel 'Minx' in November 2007 - which is odd as I believe Minx was more a pop music channel that indie. Scoring a Hit-achi With The Scullery Maid

Advantages: Very neat - seemingly a lot of kit for the money

Hitachi CX68 MP3/CD + Radio - Tough Little Beast

...I wanted a portable CD player for my home-office desk, because I found that playing CDs on my computer whilst I was working seemed to use up memory and sometimes caused my computer to crash. Hitachi, well done fab camera.

Advantages: Good quality, cool features, allows DVD RAM disks.

...I still live with my parents and this is the TV magazine that they buy. I don't see the point in buying another TV magazine just for me. I read this magazine more than I actually watch the television. Due to exams, drama, sign language and ciao I don't watch very much television. However, every now and then I do sit down and watch an episode of Eastenders or Coronation Street, with my mam. I don't need to watch every episode to know what is going on. Apart from the fact that usually nothing much is happening, I can read the TV quick to catch up. TV Quick come out weekly and costs 70p. We get it delivered from our local newsagents with our newspaper. We usually get it on the Tuesday, before the TV listings in the magazine starts. ...'The TV show', is in a sense Channel 4's answer to 'Points of View'. It's on monthly, on channel4 and addresses viewers opinions regarding what has been on television that month, and any complaints that have derived from viewing. It is presented by Channel4 news presenter, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, and the show is handled in more of chat show debate forum (Trisha style) rather than reading out letters a la Terry Wogan on POV. They often invite producers (or other relevant people) of whichever shows have created controversy that month. Review of The TV show

My TV Guide Of Choice.

Advantages: only 30p - not anymore it's now 33p
Disadvantages: not all digital channels listed

...First of all I will state that there are no plot spoilers included in this review although there may be mention of new series starting in the week that I am reviewing this magazine for. I promise not to give anything away though and if I do you have my permission to slap my bottom. Hang on though I may enjoy that!!! Back to the review. I don't really buy many newspapers - it's not that I don't keep up to date with the news - I just prefer to watch it on TV or look online to find out what is going on in the world. I also pop in to see my mum every day as her house is close to the school where my daughter's attend and it beats trying to find a space outside the gates, as well as getting the chance for a cuppa and a gossip. She buys a local newspaper so I'm able to have a quick look at that to find anything going on in the area...
