...Great unit Better picture quality than the sonys and hitachis that I looked at. Only the Elite Pioneers were equal to it in performance but much higher in price. Could not be happier with it. Paired it with a Toshiba DVD 5109 and a Pioneer Elite tx26 and WOW what a blow you out of your socks system! Got mine in December. Only problem was a slight convergence irregularity which the defective part was replaced promptly All who have seen this unit comment on how it does not looke like a rear projection unit. I cannot see any scan lines at all even at close distances...

...We purchased a Hitachi 28" Pure Flat Screen TV in the January 2003 sales. A bargain reduced from £600 to £389. Unfortunately by February 2004 we had a problem with it. A grey screen with wavey diagonal lines and it kept turning itself off after about 5 seconds. Anyway - stupid like we didnt take the extended guarantee - which i would advise everyone to do - if you can afford it obviously. The TV was taken away by a local engineer and basically needed some extensive welding and it cost us £170 and we were left without the TV for 3 weeks. Well we werent happy as you can imagine so we tried to contact Hitachi. We telephoned our local Miller Brothers store who supplied it and they only had a fax number for Hitachi - nothing else !!! So I searched the web and found a few addresses and forward the original reciept...

Hitachi HDR161 - Very handy!

Advantages: Lots of room for recordings, tapes 2 shows at the same time, can pause live TV
Disadvantages: Your restricted to what you can receive through your aerial, no digital PDC alternative

...Freeview set top boxes that come with a built in hard drive, allowing you to record programmes from any channel the box can receive through your current aerial, through the Freeview platform, onto the hard drive. This model comes with a good size hard drive of, well the model number pretty much gives it away, you guessed it, 160gb! which, Argos says (as does the manual), is the equivalent of approxiemately 80 hours of recordings. It currently costs £129.99 and there is also a cheaper 80gb model which gives you half that space, so about 40 hours of recording time. I guess I was a bit greedy going for the larger model but if I really use it, I want to have room to store some films and TV shows for the weeks ahead and know I can still tape other things for some time to come... the space hasn't been a problem at all so far, I've got about 18...

Sagem Projection tv 45"

Advantages: Clear picture, widescreen, amazing sound
Disadvantages: hard to see screen at an angle or in bright light

...i got the Sagem projection tv from a store that i can pay in installments, up untill then i'd never heard of a back projection tv. Its HD ready, resolution of 1280x720, 1 million pixels per colour, with two speakers on it that are 60 watts. its AV input/output is s-video x1, scart x3, and composite video x1. it supports NICAM stereo. My tv is silver, but comes in black too, it looks really nice and the remote is easy to work out, but a bit oversized. the remote takes 2 AA batterys. The telly has quite a large back, with a bigger flat screen which sits on a curved base that looks like the speakers. It looks like a flatscreen TV from the front, from the side it looks like a flatscreen with something attatched to the back. The tv cost £3000 in the store i got it from including tv stand, i'm paying £3400 as its in installments...

...I'm an individual who enjoys a good bit of music. Any genre will generally do if it's 'good' - by that I mean not some terrible cheesy pop song, but generally I'll stick to my indie/rock malarkey. So it's ideal then that the New Music Express has introduced their own TV station - NME TV... Operated by CSC Media Group, it replaced the music channel 'Minx' in November 2007 - which is odd as I believe Minx was more a pop music channel that indie. Upon it's launch, the first song it played was 'Up The Bracket' by the Libertines, so a perfect indication of what this channel would be playing. ...The Exorcist DVD sits on my shelf, i watch it only during daylight hours and only then if it is really sunny and i expect to see friends later, hopefully not having time to dwell too much on what i have watched... to hear that the Blair Witch Project was the scariest film ever, well that was a pretty substantial claim that needed looking into. I came to the film long, long after all the hype had died down, and unusually for me watched it with a pretty open mind. I resent the fact that i will never get those 70 or so minutes of my life back, what a poor piece of film this is. I was irritated within 5 minutes of it having started, to alienate your audience by having such annoyingly stupid characters is rather foolish if you ask me. I was rooting for the evil presence to despatch these idiots the minute they set foot in the woods...
